These characters aren't even an xpac old, and they're already being devalued as something you can literally just copy paste print and reiterate on. None of the individuals of these realms matter, just their cosmic roles.

I think they make a good point.

In an attempt to seem grandiose and smart, they're writing something foolish and untraceable, unless you also read the books. An outside source should never be the source of storytelling for an RPG.

It's an issue with the writing staff itself. Either, they're too focused on creating ten dailies for you to burn through in thirty minutes, or they're writing an expansion wide narrative, tunnel-visioning on the larger plot rather than the characters. WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THE PLOT.

I'll give Baine once again as an example. He sits.

Son of one of the best Warcraft 3 characters. Sits in Oribos and probably farts every ten seconds while nobody can hear him.

Doesn't even get a conclusion with Cairne, who is probably in Maldraxxus.

And what is Warcraft if not its characters? They all used to ooze so much personality and class fantasy. Jaina, the sassy mage. Arthas, the cold, calculated death knight, Uther, the mentor paladin.

"Shh, I'm trying to think here." is one of the best voice lines from Jaina because it just fits her character in such a way. Now, she just says generic stuff like "For Kul Tiras."

#

And like that, you turned a fan favorite character into a plot device to get Kul Tiras back into the plot.

At least Jaina kept some of her sass in the Maw intro.

is that they have a complete storyarc from beginning to end at launch,with some unresolved plot threads,that dont stop the main storyarc from happening, then during the first 2 patches( x.1 and x.2),you resolve the storythreads from launch,
then during those 2 patches culminating in the third patch (x.3) you setup storythreads for the following 2 patches(x.4, x.5), which establish the next expansion

WoW is trying to tell its story in a character driven plot type of storytelling. But it doesn't work since the characters would not interact with each other the way they do, unless there are plot contrivences.

Take for example, Taelia and Calia. Two characters, recently established in the story. Would Taelia really not be by her father's side in Korthia after being away from him her whole life?

Calia would likewise go to the Maw and try rescuing her brother's soul from an eternity of damnation. Nah, all good.

#

Baine would go meet his old man to ask for guidance on how to sit for an entire expansion without getting hemorrhoids. Nah.

At least Darion and Alexandros got a happy ending. Your time's fuckin' coming, Mograines.

I swear, Amber Kearning got more of a resolution than these recently introduced protagonists.

And nobody even remembers her, unless they play a rogue and somehow stumbled upon her in Maldraxxus.

Maybe we should go talk to the Eternal Ones. Ask them to fucking fix family drama storylines in WoW. They're too many, and they're never addressed unless it benefits the larger plot.
