Two: the more interesting option. All the call backs to Warcraft 3 imo are priming us for a major callback going forwards. Sylvanas worked closely with the Dreadlords in WC3, not by her own choice. In Legion’s 8.3.5 PTR, Lothraxion specifically mentions how not all demons will give up so easily, but they removed it at launch.
What if Sylvanas is working with the Dreadlord brothers again for some unknown purpose, and Zekhan himself is a dreadlord? As weird as it sounds, he shows up at the most convenient times.

Two: his line would tip people off early.

This isn’t a out there idea. They almost did it with Jar Jar in Star Wars, but Lucas chickened out because fans lashed out at the character so hard before the reveal.

As for the book, Chronicle didn't necessarily "rewrite" them, though obviously almost none of those "rules" are commonly respected going off the portal-creation-examples we have. To be fair this is mostly a joke book so its canonicity is a tiny bit loose, but you could argue it's similar to some real life laws or guidelines which are rarely respected or enforced.

I think it's a great idea though I think it should not be just limited to a party with a friend but all levels or maybe at least a certain bracket of level say till 110 or something. I like to enjoy doing older content and scale down without killing greys.
