if you have an army of thousands of people attacking a city

And your quest is "be one of those thousand people who all together run up to the wall, scale it, hack around on them and in that way help storm the city"

Then if two characters meet and both say "hey, we were part of storming the city", their stories don't exclude eahc others

Im a raider and an RPer and have always wanted WoW to progress like an RPG and not just an MMO that ignores Ive saved the world 4 times now.

Oh, and I play EvE on the side, but that's another topic entirely and a very very different type of game

Since its a game whos story is almost entirely based on social interaction.

Sadly, WoW and other MMOs that copy it won't be that way. Not unless youre in a group.

For me personally, I've made my own little fix for it.

Treat the questing as a completely null thing for all my characters. Like Im reading a book. Then craft the story of what she is actually doing in this area using the events of the questline as a sort of bridge.

Yeah, that's what I also do (also most of my characters are not where the PCs are most of the time)

And I help to organize and participate in our big campaigns, where we "retell" some of the big stories and have the player characters be part of the helping NPC armies, basically

Kinda neat. I dont enjoy those large scale player stuff though. Always creates drama on whos dying and who did what to who to get a few kills.

We mostly use "storytellers"/"Dungeon masters" to play the enemy faction,d escribe them etc.

I guess most fights are against well described raidmarks

Yeah, it's kinda unique (don't know if it's prevalent of any other realms)

But if you have dedicated teams, you can really create many individual groups that all do their small part and it comes back together into the big story

Dunno myself. I roleplay on a private server. Rules are a bit different for what we're capable of doing.

That was a concern, Saurfang had to concede. In the thick of fighting against the Burning Legion, Greymane had launched a mission to kill Sylvanas. It had gotten some of Stormwind’s few remaining airships destroyed.

There were whispers that Greymane had ordered the attack without Anduin’s permission, but as far as Saurfang knew, Greymane had not been punished. The implications of that were troubling, and every possible explanation led to the same conclusion: the old Worgen would always drive the Alliance toward war against the Horde.
