It would make his downfall as more tragic, and install also how the dractyrs saw him.
oooo, i like this idea
Me too! I mean, we know from old lore, and even from Legion, that before his corruption, Neltharion was the good guy. Acting sometimes strange, tired, but really noble, wise, wanting the best, and actively changing the earth, rivers, to make better grounds for the mortals.
And this the side the dracthyr saw of him, when he created them. A benevolent father and commander.
I am very interested in what kind of nightmares N'zoth sent to Neltharion, that Neltharion break and succumbed to madness. Neltharion resisted for 10 thousand years, that's a lot. Xalatath's phrase that "the strongest, but it was the easiest to break" is very interesting.
And all the info about his damage is just "you will rule them all". Well, like, for a character like Neltharion, it looks stupid.
Maybe after obvious paranoia, he had this desire, but not before
idk the accuracy or if official art but thats from his wowpedia page
Corruption
Although he was revered as a Dragon Aspect, Neltharion silently chafed at what he felt was a burden that had been inflicted on him; though he could command the entire weight of Azeroth itself, that same weight constantly pressed on his body every waking moment, the load making him feel suffocated to the point that he felt his very spirit unraveling. Neltharion believed that he must bear this burden alone, but ultimately found it to be too much, and began to resent the charge placed upon him. The belief that the titans viewed Azeroth as an experiment only fueled his bitterness. During his conversation with Thrall millennia later, he admitted that he served the Old Gods largely because he believed that they would free him from this burden.

Deathwing returned to his lair in what would later be known as Highmountain. His proximity to the Demon Soul was ripping his body apart, so goblin smiths forged an armor of adamantium steel to serve as a vessel to contain Deathwing's raging powers and keep them in check, which were then placed on his body by the drogbar, whom he had enslaved.[24] Only the adamantium plates bolted to his spine kept the power from destroying his body.
So that explains our need to rip the plates off him (an earlier topic)
Tho I dont recall anyone in game telling us thats why we needed to do it.
I'm gonna be honest a lot of my knowledge on Neltharion's lore came from the Nixxiom True Story of Deathwing video 😅
But from what you just posted it really makes me like Neltharion a heck of a lot more. That's a pretty sad story. He tried to do the right thing but just couldn't do it. It makes me feel bad for the guy
It's from the old TCG, so official as it could be at the period. :)
easiest because he was in pain. :)
His power, so strong as it was, rendered him really vulnerable, like Malfurion is OP because of the Dream, but that make him vulnerable versus the Nightmare.
Wowpedia has TONS of info on all the aspects, they pretty much summarize and catalogue everything from games and books in chronological order
Many rocks are extremely hard and resists scratches and damage, but hit it the right way and it'll cleave.
Yup. Here, it's pressure, and internal corruption.
He is the world, feel the world. So, feel the DTA behind.
That was not really toughtful from the Titans, actually...
Of course the DTA underground could have an easy access to him.
I'm guessing he could constantly hear cthun and yogg saron in their underground prisons too.
Yes, that would make the most sense, considering he could heard all the stones and suffering, voices...
Imagine being aware of every mantid, nerubian, and qiraji
DTA?
also- for ayone wanting a deep read
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Deathwing
Its LEANGTHY
Deathwing the Destroyer, formerly known as Neltharion the Earth-Warder (pronounced "nehl-THAW-ree-uhn"), was one of the five Dragon Aspects and leader of the black dragonflight. Ages ago, Neltharion was empowered by the Pantheon with dominion over the earth and the deep places of Azeroth. However, driven mad by the Old Gods, he turned against th...
I really hope in the Dracthyr origin cinematic we can see how Neltharion looked in-game and the kind of guy he was before Deathwing. We’ve heard stories but haven’t ever seen it play out visually
Are they sure about that second syllable? I don't think even the devs say thaw vs thair
also, fun fact (for anyone that wasnt active during cataclysm)
The achievement you can get in the DS raid for dying (Stood in the Flames)
Used to be a pre Cata event.
They actually had a full size Deathwing they would spawn whereever the hell they wanted, and hed kill the entire zone. Granting the achievement.
Theres super old vids on youtube where theres a mass of people standing around then -
Flop
EVERYONE dead, and an achievement on screen.
Actually was all through cata
They added it to the raid since they planned to stop the event
So i'm just chilling in Ramkahen in Uldum with my buddy Gala, when the sky turns red and I hear this loud roar, which can only mean one thing.....Deathwing be trollin'.
nice, i didnt play during cata myself. So wasnt aware it went through the whole expac
I didnt play until early pandaria
Yeah, was annoying when levelling and you had the dragon head buff
It was annoying but really fun
We will be
there are cinematics for the origins of the dracthyr and the creation of the aspects
Yeah I was just watching the Taliesin video about the dawn of aspects cinematic. Im very excited to see all of them. I hope 1 of them also explains what’s the deal with Raszageth and her pals
that seems to be a bit of an intentional secret
that the aspects hid away from the world
I really hope Neltharion gets a unique model and isn’t a generic design too lol
I’ve heard theories about a potential 6th aspect being Raszageth
Nah, they explicitly oppose the aspects and serving the titans
they were locked away to prevent a full dragon civil war
There’s also lines about Kalec potentially having a history with Raszageth but I don’t remember exactly what he says in regards to it
She's basically just the equivalent of Arthas atm, main threat of the xpac drawing us to the Isles, showing up in all of the zones (including the new class starting zone) and causing havoc, to keep her as a prescient villain
but unlike Arthas she seems to just be the 10.0 villain
she's the only one of the four Primal Incarnates currently released
And of course she breaks into Vault of the Incarnates where the other 3 are imprisoned. But the other 3 incarnates doesn’t seem right as a final boss does it?
I feel like it should either be the four incarnates or none of them at all
I doubt they will be, they'll probably be our reason to go to the "Dragon Isles Underground" in 10.1
Council fight council fight!
since she's the air/lightning incarnate, they are all fire, earth, and water respectively
Everyone loves those right? 😂
But really it would be cool if they get released and then they are world bosses from then on
Honestly that could be pretty cool. I’d love to see world events where one element takes over a certain area in the isles. For instance a massive blizzard appears in the Azure Span, molten lava starts seeping into the Waking Shore even more than it already has, and the Ohn’ahran plains are faced with some crazy earthquake
I would really love to see the new underground zone integrated into the pre-existing dragon isles. Like giant sinkholes and ravines opening up across the Isles giving access to the land below.
It'll be interesting to see how they do an underground zone. They had always wanted to do one, and then they got to do Deepholm, which felt very unique as it was an absolutely giant, vast sort of dome. But it also got some design complaints for being "just" that and nothing else, and didn't hit the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" vibe. I wonder if this is what they'll be aiming for with 10.1 because Dragon Isles is basically Journey to Un'Goro.
I'm honestly more interested in the technical side of it all, I have no doubt the artists will knock it out of the park
but thye couldn't manage to do a zone on top of a zone well enough back in Wrath, tech's come a long way since then
they could so an oribos style flying from zone to zone of us going sorta auto pilot once we hit the like cusp of the hole into the underground zone
that zone separation was pretty widely despised though, so I doubt they'd want to do more of it
i mean, if that's what they technically have to do to make a big underground zone where WE get to fly through it instead of taking a FP i'd much rather that then get a loading screen or ala teleport.
It could also be a Maw type of situation where you jump in -> loading screen -> superhero landing
And that's all assuming the access to the underground is open-air
i dont think it will be on top and i dont think it will be a loading screen
i think its going to be sorta similar to nazjatar
big hole in the world we dive down into
probably in the huge area next to the ohnaran plains
A dive would def be a fun potential local for a race thing
Hit all the rings while dive bombing and tweaking direction
whats ptr
public test realm
whats special about it
you can test things before they are officially out, also they discuss story related things before they become common knowledge, mostly right now this channel is flooding with DF speculation since DF alpha is out and only limited people get into it
PTR is different than DF alpha too
PTR will be the next patch for retail
Not for mortals, but for dragons. He protected everyone, but always put aspects above others. That's why he created dracthyr. He was never evil, but he had to protect the planet, so he relied on the strongest races
No no, I really meant for mortals. He relied on the strongest races, for sure, but what I am referring to is how he shaped the world, the mountains, the rivers, to benefit the mortals races (beasts and humanoid alike), to offer them shelters and food.
Obviously, the aspects were the protectors of the world, and themselves needed to be protected. Rising tensions with the primalists led to the dracthyr, inspired by the amazing powers of each flight, and the spark of ingeniosity the mortals have. But here I was more talking about the mythos of Neltharion, his feat that gained him the admiration of mortals in the same way the drogbars saw him, before his corruption, as a really cool guy.
this quest sounds cool
people getting so serious though wtf
somebody was saying this
which I found hilarious
alliance and horde cooperate sinse wrath
everything is ok
alliance and horde want to stop a war
ppl get mad
"we aren't defined by our previous actions we can grow and make new allies without falling into the sterotype of big bad evil orc who takes demon blood"
grommash hold, the throne of the horde
is named after a guy who wanted to atone for his sins
People are so bloodlusted sometimes they don't even read the quest they declare as absurd.
I do agree. WoW is about adventure, saving the world, helping people in quests, doing fun things.
There is many dramas in the lore, but it is the objective to grow beyond that.
There is a classical moral retold in a game I do like that many forget, despite liking his "strenght".
warcraft has always been about multiple sides, and exploring not only fantastical places but also the fantastical people
also it's WORLD of warcraft
not war of worldcraft
There are those that hone in on the "warcraft" like it's a definition for the game and not simply named after the warcraft single player games
As all kids aha. But I do agree.. 😁
This game is phenomenal, and also show the remorses of Kratos.
Yeah, like the ones that say "it's MINEcraft... so mine".. 😁
Forgetting it's because well.. you recognize much easier the game that way. "World of Azeroth" would have been less recgonizable that" Oh yeah, this game is set in the universe/world of warcraft the game, good"
Aahah, could be, could be. The reactions of players are really interesting.
but also it ain't just war
it's warcraft
war isn't just people killing eachother
even going back to the OG games
to wage war you need resources, buildings
people
leaders
research
and WoW in essence, explores that
explores the WORLD of all the warcraft
though now I'm starting to sound like an artsy fartsy essay writer
Yup, and even back to the game, there were some story of it, some lore and not war for war. x)
But I understand what you want to say, BigSaint.
Excuse me what? Thalyssra and Lor'themar are married now?!
I'm both excited, and upset
excited cuz yay, new lore building, and Lor'themar and Thalyssra seem like a genuine good fit
but upset cuz, we didnt get a cutscene or small in game animatic, or even a tiny quest for the wedding or anything
Thank god someone understands my pain
wait till he realizes there's a timeskip in that text
Oh no, that I saw lol
just curious if Thalyssra and Lor'themar can have kids, cuz if they can, then thats TECHNICALLY the first step at re-unification of the night elves/nightborn and the blood elves/high elves
not really reuinification between night elves/ nightborne
or the other one
high elves/ blood elves are still pretty close
so I reckon they can have kids
I'd be REALLY surprised if they couldn't
especially considering how some blood elves have turned back into high elves pretty much, blue eyes and all
but nightborne are just arcane fueled night elves, but it's changed their biology because it's been so extended
whereas blood elves were from a brief period of fel infusion that seemingly only changed their eye colour
fair enough, common ancestry might still be a playable part in that tho, at least, I hope it is.
I don't know where the nelf part came from
since it's a belf and a nightborne
so it's a reunification of them
unless they're having a throuple with a nelf
xd
I mean, nightborne are just pre-sundering night elfs kinda, no? Am I wrong on that history part?
so is tyrande, malfurion, azshara
most of them
nightborne were suramar residents who've transformed over millenia of arcane infusion from the nightwell
shouldve worded it better, nightborne are just highborne night elfs I think
don't even know if they're highborne
if you do the stuff to unlock nightborne, you see tyrande shuns their attempts at peace becuase of them having been attached to a well previously
since they still have some nature/druid connections in their lost culture
She legit turns them down because of what their rulers did
The belfs swoop in like "dont wrry, we understand your struggles and love/accept you"
also unlocking them was a HUGE PITA
idk but id love to knock her off SOME of her highhorses
the whole tree thing? Valid. Snubbing the nightborne because they depended on a well to survive? Yeah ok. Wtf tho?
In the NB storyline you find a lot were not GIVEN THE CHOICE TO LEAVE when the rulers decided to lock them in the bubble
Tyrande dont give a shit and holds them all responsible
The whole issue in not trusting them, iirc, breaksdown to believing they are magic addicted and would do anything illicit to obtain it. Even tho you do an entire questline of building a regime that has broken away from said dependence with your help
Tyrande the type to hold an addiction survivors past problems and struggles over their head for life. Even if the rest of that life is lived healthy and free of addiction.
Pretty much the entirety of Thalyssra's story is how she witnessed the slow fall/decline of her beloved home and her clinging to life by the only means available, in hopes to see said home saved/fixed
Not to generalize but I feel like Blizz is kinda forced into writing Nelfs as these snobby infallible people because of the backlash they get from the Nelf community when they do anything but that
Wanna make a nelf mad? Remind them they used to be trolls. The OG mortal race
I’ve seen quite a few Nelf players say that Blizzard is going out of their way to destroy Night Elves because they, the DEVELOPERS/Fellow Players, hate them. Which makes literally no sense and I don’t understand why there are so many that actually believe this
Tbf
they don't hate night elves
Blizz like "You want unfair? Fine fine." blows up tree
the customisation options and story time say otherwise
they LOVE nelvs
they just aren't wc3 nelf's anymore
They’ve been in the spotlight for the past 3 expansions and it’s just getting annoying imo
Tyrande has always come across as kind of haughty and arrogant, or just royal snobbish
Malfurion seems to be pretty level headed, at least, for the most part, but still has problems, considering druidism and the emerald nightmare
Illidan was the best in my opinion. Was he fanatical and narrow-sighted? Yes, but Illidan legit strikes me as the type of person to care more about what you can do, then who you are
somebody from the fan fic commitee might have gotten into the nelf lore writing team
Undead also lost their city to sylvanas tho, they are just working faster to rebuild (I say this because undead have a questline to remove the blight, while Nelfs have no quest yet)
While undead just get the exact same capital handed back to them, Night Elves are going to get a brand new tree
And honestly Teldrassil was ugly as heck and did not look like a tree. I consider this an upgrade if they do get a new capital, because it’ll actually be, well, a tree with their modern tech
there's also a weird thing to me which is how after MoP, login screens became weird
I agree with you, Illidan got brownie points with the whole "I AM my scars!" bit
Maybe it’s just me but I don’t like the drawn login screens
I hated the BFA screen, and it’s so incredibly forgettable
WoD was dark portal, fine whatever but it was literally destroyed affter the intro. Legion was just a random legion planet with some demons on it, BFA was lordaeron, the prepatch not an actual part of the expansion
SL the veil, same thing
prepatch content
not the xpac
Eh the Veil made sense it was the most iconic thing in the promotion for the expac
Through The Roof of the world being the main theme and all
yeah but it was just kinda dumped after that
Best line in that expansion
the shadowlands/ azeroth veil plotline was dropped because devs just wanted us to explore the SL
so imo the oribos soul stream, or torghast would have been a better login screen
show something that's core to the expansion
like in wrath we saw ICC
cata, deathwing
pandaria, vale of eternal blossoms
a constant of the expansion
I hope and expect that dragonflight will buck that trend
I'm expecting either tyrhold, or the dragon tower
maybe even a wide shot of the dragon isles themselves
but if you look at SL/BfA
then you'd expect the login screen to be uldaman
which is nah no please don't
Could be cool if they did some sort of overlook on the dragon isles with statues of the aspects
Kind of like image 2
I think BfA should have been a 50/50 chance of login screen being kultiras or zandalar
that would have been cooler imo
also yeah I'd like to see some 3D login screens again
especially if it's of the dragon tower
Its such an unhinged thought too
I forget I made a nelf drood and named er Bushrat
Called mine hegemone
Thought I was being funny because hedgefund = hedgemoney
Remembered after that hegemone is actually a word
or what if instead, what if it showed various battle scenes between horde and alliance? Darkshore, Warfront, etc
I think the login will probably be the gate to Valdrakken or Tyr Hold with a dragon in the background sorta like in Wrath or Cata
those are in the new ulduman dungeon
they are pretty neat

It's been a few months since the last update and I wanted to lay out the plan as it is now as it's gone through some changes recently as we get increasingly closer to December. For some use cases there's good news, for others there's bad news. If you have any questions after reading all this, I...
there we go
wow.tools is going to finally shut down soon
Regarding the burning of the nelf Tree -there is no hatred here, it's just the movement of the plot. You can also say that they hate humans, because they destroyed their biggest and greatest kingdom (Lordaeron)
Or do they hate the Orcs, because they destroyed their planet
Exactly. I don't exactly understand why some night elf fans like to perceive the plot moving as a personal targeted attack, but some do and I feel it prevents Blizzard from writing the plot the way they really want to
There comes points in playing videogames where some just need to step back and remind themselves it is indeed, only a game.
Understandable, but still really damn sad
Going to be rough not having such a great and polished tool
wow trace is being worked on
but it has a small team and they arent as competent at coding as marlamin
they need help
if i could code, i would
wowhead MIGHT step up, but that wouldnt be good for their site neccesarily
i think once wow.tools actually stops, people will get motivated to help
why is wow tools shutting down?
what is wowtools?
There is quite the amazing silverlining with wow-tools shutting down tho
Less intensive datamining, meaning less stuff gets spoiled, more stuff gets to be a surprise
well
wowhead still will
and mmo-champ too probably
just makes it harder for normal people who dont have a casc browser
? Doesnt wowhead use wow.tools?
I didnt think they had their own proprietary tools
i think they do
Just avoid media sources that take part in it shrug
blizz is sorta doing that
theyre encrypting more stuff
Not eough
Still letting leveling story be seen and datamined on alpha
smart. Datamining has been a thing in this game so long, its really got its own culture around it. Encrypting what they want a tighter lock on but leaving the rest ensures less outcri
I mean how else are you gonna test leveling
You don’t want the whole leveling experience to not be tested
l'd assume they could blank out quest text maybe
They are on record as saying that is actually their goal
Text errors can occur tho
yea its hard to do
Ion said they want to get to the point where they no longer need ptr/alpha
the current set up needs all of whats currently exposed in alpha, tested
l personally went for not sticking my nose into things l wanna be surprised by
exactly
I’m sorry but that’s never going to happen
Not soon, at least
whenever there's a datamining stream all the background say wowhead so
they use their internal dressing room to view the datamining stuff
It essentially takes that manpower that publicly does alpha tests, being now on the payroll for it
Some stuff they can likely streamline to a point it doesnt need it
I mean if they wanted it to be a surprise they wouldn't let people datamine it
:p
other bits still need testers, even if they are internal
and then you have those internal testers potentially leaking info under codename
I think the biggest blunder with their files has been that map called 10.1 dragon isles underground
Like how pokemon info always ends up leaked, its just a matter of what is real among all the fake stuff
Its not toxic tbh this is literally a channel for PTR spoiler content.
No, you're not. I was having a pleasant disccussion with Peach and you have to come in and say "Dont like it, get out"
even marlamin, the guy who created wow.tools advocated for less datamining
No one said get out tho from what i can see
my point is that if they didn't want use datamining certain things
they wouldn't let us
information isn't harmful
and if they want to withhold information, they can
Is it me or the ring in dragon racing are solid?!
It is heavily implied.
It can ruin the fresh eyed surprise, but normally in the form of content creators using thumbnails or something that just kinda sticks the content out there unfiltered
it really wasn't
like really dude why would I get aggressive towards you just because you said you don't want to be spoiled, I don't want to be spoiled most of the time
I dont hve alpha access so im not aware qwq
Ion recently made a comment in Asmongold’s interview on wanting to better hide certain things (to keep the “sense of discovery and exploration”) in the game while still being able to receive feedback (source). As someone who has been making tools for datamining and using said tools for over a decade, I wanted to share my opinion and what I think...
found it
I was just pointing out that if you don't want to be spoiled for WoW, that the spoiler channel is an odd place to hang out
this is from marlamin, the guy who made wow.tools
Just stopp
about how blizz needs to limit datamining more
because its causing problems
and theyve been doing that
for example, broadcast text is mostly encrypted now
This is typically not true. But it does help prioritizing bugs as they are reported
it's not an issue, I will but just know it ISN'T an issue ok?
I have no gripe
now we move on from this misunderstanding
100%
what kind of problems
thought it was your personal opinion
or find out story beats before the lead up
you were talking about
it ruins it for everyone
i agree with marl
but marl's post is well written
and they have absolutely followed through on hiding story spoilers, like marl suggested
the fact that new broadcast text is almost non-existent, most voice files are encrypted
cutscene descriptions arent even included
I avoid story stuff like the plague, if i can decipher its got impact to main progression
I had at one point started watching a youtubers playthrough of the dracthyr start zone, but within 2 minutes was like "mmmm I shouldnt, I wont pay attention in my own play through if i do this" xD So i closed the vid lol
I like seeing things like the dracthyr themselves and in game mount models.
Ive avoided most environment stuff too, come to think of it
i havent seen much of the story myself since im waiting for alpha
Just seeing the geography (and its variety) is enough to make me shy away from looking at stuff
I'm very much art-centric when it comes to appreciating the game, at least at the top of the list lol
I spoiled myself pretty much but I have the unique talent of still loving something that was spoiled to me.
I mean, i still love the stuff i do look through, when i finally get to play it. Some I just choose to bypass until I can experience it for myself
Understandable, of course! For me the play experience is always so different I still like it.
Hey, I have a question
Are there any void-related models in the alpha?
As in voidborn models
We have one thing that seem to be tied to the black empire map, but no voidborn models yet.
However, we do have a "voidgazer" NPC with a strange aura and model.
I mean some people need to read about movie spoilers before deciding to watch them lol
It's not too different in that regard
We can see it that way, true! :)
100% disagree.
word on the street is
they planned 2 class trees for tomorrow
but i just got news that they changed it to 1 class
no idea which one
lol, we got our first news on DH in DF and its just them saying sinful brand is dead
inside source?
ye
hmmmm
could be that they want to do more tuning on existing classes first
or its just broken
thats happened before
if i had to guess, probably some last minute hiccup
since just a few hours ago it was still 2 classes
in legion when they said they planned to add 2 different classes artifacts during testing, they cut one right before the next test b/c it was crashing or wasnt working right
could definitely be one of those situations
in which case we will see more next week instead
i'm guessing it's likely warrior coming out
since it's the most recent datamined class
i could see that - especially if theyre putting titan grip on like the class tree or something like that
oh lord
2H + shield prot warrior
😆
where holy paladin
Im really intrigued by what Blizz does with the DH trees. I recently redid all my keybindings and started using Bartender, and it really struck me how truly barebones the DH class is in regards to their abilities. I can barely even fill my second bar of keybinds 😂
Well, with the Legion talents (Chaos Blades, for examples), artifact abilities, Azerite and set pieces I guess they have quite a bit to work on. Plus they will add new things, I supposed.
I hope some mutually exclusive things in DH Havoc rn to be no longer exclusive, like NEtherwalk and Soulrending
another update:
expect a lot of updates to existing trees
i guess more or less every class/spec will get changes
Compiling info that i've received this evening - the next alpha build will have:
- max level zone
- One new class getting a talent tree
- Inscription & Skinning
- No new dungeons
- Massive changes to existing talent trees
no way they arent rolling out a new dungeon
they have too many to test still
it has to be the burrows
the uh, gnoll and furbolg dungeon in the ohnaran plains
I think their testing focus is classes this week
I'm expecting big changes to druid, mage and priest
best way to encourage testing is the dungeons, is the thing
sure but there's 3 dungeons so far
assuming all 3 are used for M+ Season 1, that leaves out just one more
Theyre testing all of them on heroic regardless
theyre all going to be in the base xpac
just not the season
Also, they still have 4 classes and 1 spec to do
And beta is right around the corner already
While it's not set in stone anywhere, I am kind of expecting 2 classes this week and 2 next week
And I am extremely curious, as a dh main, what in the hell the dh trees will look like
1 class this week
it was supposed to be two classes but yea
gross
shit happens
yeah its alpha
i was expecting monk/warr and then dh/lock as the last 2
im more curious if they're going to respond to the shit storm that is soar feedback
yes, 3 going into 4
right, so they'll do massive changes to current trees this week (including some "problematic" ones)
2-3 classes next week
and one in the last week
if they do 3 next week thatll be it, but if its just 2 therell be 1 left
my guess is warlock or dh will be last
warrior this week
monk and warlock next, then DH last
with changes to everyone in between
Mmm the ones so far are leveling
My understanding is that this one is like, idk, the maw, where all the mobs are max level
Somewhere where you won't level basically
Aren't all the zones leveling zones though? lol
There are parts of the zones that are max level, I've noticed
unless they utilize forbidden reach as a max level zone as well
Which they did state there will be a use for forbidden reach
besides they said thaldrazsus was this week - which I am pretty sure is a leveling zone, but may be the last zone, so you can hit max level
Forbidden reach will be the last zone because of high lvl mobs here
It is forbidden after all
@uncut vault This could interest you: https://www.wowhead.com/beta/spell=383510/activating
Activate the Globe of Rebirth to prepare the way for Ysera. In the Uncategorized Spells category. Added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Always up to date.
It seem, effectively, at least in the alpha, that there is/was a plan to make Ysera come back to life.
For information, the globe is this item :
this kind of irks me because they already set up her daughter to take over the flight
and they even tied up her story like "she might come back one day if we need her but she's stuck in SL"
so it's just weird to like, technically 1 patch later just bring her back
That seem weird, yes, but there is many element that this plotline is in the alpha, even if we don't know what will be. If it is a temporary return, or a definitive one. But "Rebirth" clearly is what it is...
I hope that atleast she's changed
since it's elune bringing her back and requires a whole lot of energy to do it
imagine a ysera model filtered through that look tyrande had in her fight against sylvanas
with all the star elune stuff
and no longer a green ysera just really elune decked out
The whole rebirth of ysera is weird
What was a reason to kill her, if you gonna rebirth her in like ~10 years later in lore
bring her back but don't let her be the green dragonflight aspect anymore
let her daughter lead the green
I hope they will make her the guide spirit and nothing more but there also this spoiler with artbook, and it will mean that ysera will become green leader again
wdym
no spoiler with the artbook
lmao
we haven't even seen the stuff in the artbook
I mean doesn't mean she has to become the green aspect though
just like how wrathion and kalec don't
aspects aren't really a thing anymore anyway
it's a title
Kalec is leader of the blue
no
there is no blue dragonflight
they disbanded
there are blue dragons but no blue dragonflight organisation
since there's probably fewer blue dragons than black aren't there?
though both are regrowing
Then he will become the one
Its clear that on that shot its showing leaders of each dragonflight
I was looking forward to merithra being a new character
Same
But blizzard dont know what to do with her i guess
Where from?
i can't say
AND an alpha invite for me? Wow crazy! 😂
A man can dream ya know
Yikes, assuming I’m an average player
you need either: clout (twitter/yt/twitch) or be like peach - a person that essentially, does free QA for blizzard every PTR/alpha/beta
I mean it was a joke but yeah sure go on ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Doth I smell elitism?!? On a wow chat?! Time to be mad while eating my gummy snaccs.
Debated peeking through the waking shore preview
Im itchy to look but Im (currently) of the mind to wait
it's not elitism it's just realism
They are few and far between but a good portion of randoms have and continure to get into alphas/betas so i mean 🤷

Thought id ask in here cause most of this crowd stays up to date on everything - The exp buff goes until the 4th yes? Not ending with todays maint?
Could've swore it ended for retail today. When S4 begins.
it should go on through pre patch
It should
what better way to see how trees feel/play out during leveling
I do remember seeing a graph during the first alpha data mine and leveling is getting nerfed/buffed. 30 to 60 its gonna require a lot less xp if I'm not mistaken and 10s to 30s will require a bit more.
From what I saw, the amount of XP to get from 1-60 is being nerfed such that it is similar to current 1-50
i wonder how it would effect starting zone exp gain , such as pandaria /dk/dh
oh wow, thats big
You're welcome. ❤️
I looked this morning trough all spells to see. There is two version of the same spell, indicating the same story, with the item existing in the database.
And I know you have way more capacity of reaching trough the community, so that could be fun as a bomb to send, considering the implication (her returning to life, so that would explain the weapons and maybe model)
If you want, you could send this to Twitter (and maybe "credit" me?), to see what would be the players reactions. FR side, they seem to be sceptical, but for me, it is clear they are (or were) planifying something with her. The Ardenweald logo with the spell that was added in 10.0 also tie to "yes, it's not a random thing but a structured spell", with many effects connected to the spell that seem tied to a ingame cutscene or something like that.
The fact that it was specificallly added in 10.0 alpha builds, and has a description as a player buff definitely means its intentional in some form
plus all the flags associated with it for doing a channel animation
Exactly! The other spell also has the same flags, and was also added in alpha build (but a later build)
So indicating also they are sill working on it.
It's exciting to see her again, and that could explain the appearance on the login screen, if it's Ysera and not Merithra.
(Considering there is also NPC ID with Ysera)
ysera looks like a dragonball z fusion between ysera and tyrande in this loading screen
Im just excited for her to have a new model
Me too, and in the database, we have a green model without any texture, so clearly a new one.
I feel like with the size of her role in SL, its weird they didnt update her already
but i guess if we get some sort of "rebirth" type thing, that would smooth over any huge overhauls
https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=193005/idol-of-the-dreamer there are idols of the aspects it seems as trinkets
This epic trinket of item level 350 goes in the "Trinket" slot. In the Trinkets category. Added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Always up to date.
Exactly, the model has the name "uprez", and encrypted (totally green)
With a heritage phrase, mmh.
heritage phrase?
""Whatever comes, I know you will face it with courage.""
Yup, sounds like that.
There is also the Call of Ysera talent for Dracthyr...
While I get why people wanted Merithra to get some spotlight, Ysera is just so awesome and iconic. I'm glad to have her back for real this time
idk if a talent is worthy of a place in the speculation pile, decent bit of stuff named after gone characters yeah?
there is an idol for each aspect
Decent yes, but that's still something that the dracthyrs would have.
is kalegos not malygos tho
maylog would spit on mortals
This epic trinket of item level 350 goes in the "Trinket" slot. In the Trinkets category. Added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Always up to date.
xD
Effectively...
I didn't see an idol for Nozdormu unless I missed it
Weird..
there is no idol for nuzdormu just yet it seems
even though there is tank/rdps/mdps/healer
Schrodinger's idol
so i dont know where they would put nuzdormu
it exists... somewhen
Maybe an odd question for those with Alpha, but do we know if the Dragonriding mounts can be used in the Old World or is it only the Dragon Isles? Like can I use my Highland Drake for normal 310% flying?
I hope so
gonna be a huge oversight if we cant use the new shiny customizable drakes for normal flight in old zones
I hope so too, I am never going back to those old low res drakes now that we have the new dragon rigs from DF
right
part of me is happy the new city will apparently have an AH, I have a feeling the old maps are gonna become skeletons
Cause, Ill be honest. will be very pleasantly surprised, if the new drakes are usable outside of the isles
for base flight i mean
cause we already know Riding mechs arent a thing at launch
Well they have animations for basic flight along with their advanced flying animations
But yeah I don't think anyone will be leaving the Isles for a while after launch
seeing people enjoy dragonriding, its almost guaranteed it goes baseline
It will hopefully come later, we only know they have said its not something they planned for launch
and what that means is 3 things - they need to go through the old world and add air currents and such to make flying easier, they need to make old mounts compatible, and they need to provide a way to choose which type of flight you use so you can afk fly if you want
I desperately hope dracthyr are given base flight as an option. ill even wait till 70 for it if i have to
I like what ive seen of the new system and all but i enjoy my casual flight to old raids
In the Uncategorized Spells category. Added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Always up to date with the latest patch (10.0.0).
and im gonna be low key blobfish emoji if my dragon with wings has to hitch a ride on SOMETHING ELSE to coast fly
they also have what looks like normal flight animations in the dressing room, considering at present in alpha, they never flap while soaring
this just in, blizz continues to be stinky towards anything not high end content
the exp buff thing
leveling is already stupid easy the buff made it incredibly easy.
I think you're skewing your perception a bit. There is always something not high-end
I was mostly jesting
i mean it doesn't hurt anyone really to keep it live but like level isn't that hard as it is now anyways
No exp buff just means ill do more leveling while in pandaria is all
complete more story on a single toon before the swap to bfa
has there been word on character caps on accounts for DF?
https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=198297/tinker-breath-of-neltharion punchcards are back?
the difference here is mainly because the gem was originally Kalecite on the first build
but they realized it made no sense for kalec to have a gem pre-WotA
yea
is there a character cap atm?
Yes. It's a bit above 50 afaik
right now its 50
Theres not nearly enough classes for me to hit the 50 cap and play them
name ideas, well thats another thing
to each their own, i enjoying leveling so when i'm bored i level something
Def helpful for mog collection id assume
yes, it has perks. a lot with amassing a bunch of gold
I get attached to old characters even if I change servers and stuff
I have a Goblin Warlock from MoP for example I'd be hardpressed to delete
she has a cloak!
blizz should do more winds of wisdom buffs
it incentivizes people to level during certain periods, bringing queue times for leveling content down
Yeah it is
oh dang
theyre starting early
well i have gametime this week
so fingers crossed
Praying for you peach 🤞
im hoping that meets the "subscribed" requirement
it had better 😂
Thankfully I got the final side quests done and screenshotted seconds before they went down lol
it does
Im not subbed, but I got a free year of game time from a friend
Warriors so
Obviously the DH one will be the most complex due to the complexity of the class so that'll be last
When warlock D:
last one will most likely be DH
^ they have to make up a bunch of new stuff
my guess is they might actually look at like - illidan and DH enemies from legion, and possibly even demon abilities and add some of those
comb through tier sets, azerite, artifact, essences
for peachpha
still gotta wait for the build. wave doesnt usually go out before then
early
then
XD
Help Pocopoc defend the Vessel! In the Uncategorized Spells category. Added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Always up to date with the latest patch.
its tagged DNT
its probably removed
or to be removed
because theres no way theyre going to use pocopoc
since future players dont need to go to the SLs
also that was added in the first DF build
it definitely seems like it isnt important
https://twitter.com/Zorbrix/status/1554556501246627840 - so i think theyre gonna shift to alpha focus now that this is going on
oof i wanted to know what khadgar done in sl
Hung out in oribos
turnip pls
That Pocopoc mission was from Zereth Mortis after you get the new Arbiter body and have to shoot down devourers
yes
They might just be reusing the basic mechanics of the quest and reskinning it to be khadgar and stuff
but thats why it says DNT
Ya
its like how they used the UI for benthic gear for the valor upgrades in Shadowlands
and now the benthic ethereal talks about valor accidentally lol
yes
woah - darkmoon deck box sounds neat
"we are adding a new consumable that aims to give Skinners a new form of gameplay: Creature Baits. Skinners will be able to create and place Creature Baits to lure elusive creatures out of hiding."
doesnt seem like all classes got changes though
guess your guy was wrong
also pop goes the weasel
build is here
(us) VersionsName: 10.0.0.44795 → 10.0.0.44895!
now to wait for the alpha invite wave
I CANT BELIEVE THEY DID IT
took a while last week
XD
yeah considering how rough of a state warrior is in, im thinking a lot of class changes were pushed off to next weak
they also didnt mention the soar change
they should push a small 9.2.7 build just in case
i have no idea if they even followed through on it
no current tree changes either
also finally people will be able to try max level trees
but i dont think a wave has gone out yet
i dont think the realms are even live yet
ah ok
if i still dont get in, im going to be very sad
because at that point, theres nothing more i can do
servers up
ono
ill just watch some more tv and check back in 30-40 min
oh nice, thaldraszus this week instead
that was the plan actually
phase 4 was thaldrazzus
wha-
Oh shit warriors out
lmao
hmm
where are my massive changes to problematic taleants
i see some druid cahnges
paladin changes
priest and mage got super small changes
new renown bonuses to make alt rep easier
" Referrel Bonus I Increase the Dragonscale Expedition reputation gain of characters on your account under Renown 10 by 25%. "
evoker got some talent shuffling which is nice
my understanding is that
you'll be able to mix/match red/blue/green builds
instead of just going into one
tuskarr fishing stuff
That's awesome
Wow Thaldraszus is only 4 chapters long in its story
looks like the gnoll stuff comes from tuskarr rep
also looks like they added barrel roll into the Dragonriding kit
referal bonus goes up to 3
"Referrel Bonus III Increase the Iskaara Tuskarr reputation gain of characters on your account under Renown 30 by 75%."
the devastation talents are definitely a lot less clear as to what is best
It looks like dracthyr can double jump now, doesn't seem intentional though? https://gfycat.com/VapidBlaringAustrianpinscher
thats 100% a bug
i'm 100% a bug
unless the wave hasnt gone out, i didnt get in

again
hoping they havent done a wave yet
since last week it took a few hours
@jade basalt is the soar change in this build?
did they change the cooldown?
no
agreed
The action of soaring itself does still feel pretty fun
But the speed is noticeable
However, it also feels pointless to ever use in the dragon isles even more so now
The only thing its good for is using it as a super jump to get somewhere high up quicker
i think its use in the dragon isles is honestly irrelevant
it doesnt get the talents, so its always going to be inferior
so it needs to be balanced around its use outdoors outside of the isles
which absolutely means it should be slower and needs a cooldown
but i think 5 min is probably too long
i think 3 makes more sense with the speed nerf
especially if the cooldown starts once you cast it
try using the mouse
could be a bug/not working as intended
its probably balanced around 950% speed
so it may be worth reporting if mouse doesnt show any differences
will try it once off cd again
I think I was using the mouse tho, I usually do
Nothing like using all your flight charges to get knocked off your mount with no warning lmao
XD
so wave came 40-60 min after servers came up last week
so if theyre doing one its either just starting or will start soon
i really hate that i cant just ask to have my account flagged anymore
im surprised it wasnt automatically flagged
where is the shifting sands
Got a new dragonriding spell https://i.imgur.com/bAf50Yg.png https://gfycat.com/WelloffOpulentAnole
caverns of time? lol
how long does it last
also nice to see it have a better name than the initial datamined name
valdrakken has a map
its big but not so big that its difficult to see
boralus was huge
seems like a good middle ground between boralus and dazaralor
not all in one spot, but not super spread out
plus auction house is right next to the FP
couldnt see this in the db2s, but races have rewards now!
shifting sands is indeed just a place in thaldrazsus
Found Keeper Freya, as a dream https://i.imgur.com/mw7Fw2h.png

Also questing feels so quick on the alpha, rather, leveling
Was this model datamined before? New boss https://i.imgur.com/1LBfml5.png
Cute
yes
its a new model base for the fluid elemental
i believe it actually has a modified skeleton over the old one theyve been using as well
related to dracthyr - these options were datamined
" Horn Color - None (New)
Jewelry Color - None (New)"
idk how these work in the context of what we have
neat
Dang I find evoker much less fun to play since the last round of changes.
@uncut vault
then give that feedback
it deserves to be fun
Yeah nobody really liked the proposed changes lol
i know WHY they did what they did
but i think they need to look at essence and charged spells and re-evaluate it whole cloth
also undo the changes they did with that spell everyone liked
and just replace the one people didnt instead
yeah its been 50 min now, still no access
i wonder if i somehow did something wrong?
or maybe its because i didnt test 9.2?
😐
I do like the stacked buff on Pyre
I don't know if it's got a limit but I just got it to stack like 20 something stacks and it hurt a lot
And the talent that makes it so that sometimes, you don't consume Essence Burst, meaning you can cast Disintegrate twice for example
so some of the changes are good, some are bad?
And the talent that increases your Essence to 6, so you can cast Disintegrate twice by default (3 Essence each), this one I remember being already there but I didn't take it in favor of the funnier talents which are now gone
I would revert the playstyle back to how it was, but keep some of the new stuff
However I'm not a high-end raider, personally previously I wasn't trying to upkeep the Fire Breath debuff constantly on every mob.
But I did like that you could go either Blue or Red, whereas now it looks like they're trying to make you use both Blue and Red.
its weird, they made pyre useful in single target now, which is nice
but now azure strike is kinda just...not useful at all?
it's just filler for on the move
Murozond name-dropped
Sounds like what turns Nozdormu into Murozond is the Bronze Oathstone being corrupted https://i.imgur.com/u7URoW5.png https://i.imgur.com/fpXtFUu.png
Can you see the names of the chapters really quick?
Yeah, I think people complained that it was 'meaningless' before and was just seen as an extra-step to cast Charged Blast, but I quite liked it and it was more interactive, it had two levels of increasing Charged Blast's damage, whereas now it feels totally useless to use Azure Strike, it doesn't do anything at all.
It's the dracthyr intro stuff
Oh. I saw on another stream a Warrior had 4 chapters for Thaldraszus
Was just curious if the names could give us a hint what happens
But I guess you'll find out soon anyways 😅
Big Time Adventurer looks like a song title
Oooh.
There were multiple "Big Time" spells in the uncategorized list.
I wondet if tied to this chapter.
I see no issues hear :> Hunters should be able to do this uwu
honestly it fits them surprisingly well
just the jump with no glide works really smooth
what if they added double jump to every class lol
any streamers doing the new zone?
is this part of the grand time adventure stuff?
is that in this build?
Yup
so what IS it?
like - the grand time adventure
is it an endgame activity?
Gnoll War now and War of the Shifting https://i.imgur.com/qzN1Ye8.png https://i.imgur.com/RaxeXGF.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/9pe66pE.png https://i.imgur.com/gygEEs9.png
What I'm doing right now at least is just part of the questline to save Chromie
Pandaren Revolution and Black Empire https://i.imgur.com/pT0I2JH.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/znXEbnt.png
Ragnaros is fighting Mythrax! https://i.imgur.com/T7vcgAo.png https://i.imgur.com/yKrLmOH.png
Bellular might stream it tomorrow or thursday, going by his previous streams
man i really hope it isnt just a one off quest line
i was hoping there was SOMETHING for the endgame other than WQs and dungeons
Woah so Eternus is a friendly Infinite Dragon?
Or is it just a temporary alliance?
Hopefully they’re hiding something or that first patch comes really soon after launch
probably more like neither of them want the primalists to win
Temporary truce it seems, Eternus is still a servant of Murozond but Nozdormu let her go for now
Ah. I see. So was that the end of the Thaldraszus storyline?
Yup
New shi(p)t incoming obviously is the most important info ever
Titan Shrine side questline https://i.imgur.com/9ppfQZe.png https://i.imgur.com/jdRZyoQ.png https://i.imgur.com/1GgPdr5.png https://i.imgur.com/RoqcnGE.png
But the serious question is what happens after the primalists are defeated? Does Eturnus become a raid boss?
An ally or some sort of "Middle ground" person
Between the Infinite and Bronze?
Wow that was easy
There was a NYI cutscene, and then this https://i.imgur.com/WViFbLS.png https://i.imgur.com/H2Pq8Hk.png
lmao
I mean Ysera is the DREAMer
LMAO stop
Any Wrathion sightings in Thaldraszus btw?
Not easy
F
Mother Oathstone https://i.imgur.com/WQBrvD4.png
Titan-forged are not nice https://i.imgur.com/wZAtR1R.png https://i.imgur.com/zMBrQMn.png
honestly seems like a solid WoW-type story
Vault of the Incarnates https://i.imgur.com/BlFaKSz.png https://i.imgur.com/EwcyQLG.png
Story stops here https://i.imgur.com/ERWwu7y.png https://i.imgur.com/37nB1pz.png
.>
I assume you were trying to enter a raid
I am very sure that the experience I got earlier disappeared
@dense plover no alpha yet? :/
ill double check but last i checked, no
yeah - no alpha
where is this?
and did you see it before the quest to see if it changes how it looks?
because it looks pretty awesome
Green portal mark here https://i.imgur.com/6qkrXCc.png
how does the zone look/feel?
Ah it was you! Yes but I got the wrong person, meant to invite someone else
xd
I got the Vault loading screen and then it spat me right out again
Thaldraszus as a whole?
Found the Tyrhold throne from the cinematic but the dead watcher is missing! https://i.imgur.com/MmmAfGU.png
Yup it was already like this before any quest, and Alex is there
you should report that
yes
It feels and looks quite smaller than the other zones, but then again half the zone is mountains it seems. However it feels super "tall" vertically, lot of elevation. It really feels titan-y. Totally get why this is dragon land.
im guessing they dont want you burning out on the flying zone by having you do all your leveling stuff there since its probably where the initial endgame story takes place
i cant imagine the story just STOPS at the raid
considering thats not how the past expacs worked
there was usually some other story going on at the same time
I think I found one bit that looks potentially unfinished, the lower levels of Tyrhold https://i.imgur.com/LQQOBAF.png
Yeah it's a bit odd cause I didn't get any "Thanks for testing this zone!" screen or anything like you usually get
I feel like you'll probably get one of those popups once you hit max level there that calls you back to Valdrakken to start endgame stuff
At least, I hope. DF needs some max level stuff for solo play. It's been their biggest shortcoming for a while
Does anyone else feel like the zones are kind of short?
seems like it
i think its going to have a bunch of side stories
and faction stories
That makes sense, the main stories are super short atm
and i think a chunk of that might not be apparent since none of it is connected right now
I assume they'll remain that way, the xp you get from the main quests is generally enough
btw can confirm - no alpha again
I don't mind them making the zones shorter and the leveling quicker for DF as long as it means we get more story for endgame
^
Suramar was so good that the lack of it or anything like it has been felt through BFA and SL
They said there would be more frequent content additions in DF
Just realized the Valdrakken map shows in different the colors the various dragonflight subzones https://i.imgur.com/0RlltvE.png
I love how Grandiose the stuff in Valdrakken is. The zone isn't exactly the biggest but the structures are just so incredibly MASSIVE that it still makes you feel small
Take this image I found for instance
its possible they could be doing story stuff shortly post-launch
like a few weeks after when raid comes out we get more story
