retail has decades old graphics too in the oldest zones, but zones from recent expacs have way better graphics
i have played both and i think classic is fine, for a game that old

personally i wouldn't care if they opened all the expansions as classic servers and froze them at their final patch after their life cycle. just let people play what they want to play

Depend on your server... There are PVP server which is imbalance Horde / alliance ratio.. check ironforge before too late.. otherwise just choose PVE servers
The bots are more "vague" and most bots i know are in retail selling WTS run / bus in Lost Ark

you will be replacing most of your gear fairly early on. If you want to gear up anyway, do AV for pvp gear instead which is far more effective (and good gear)

If memory serves me, there was once a period where Tauren were too big for certain mounts.
It's also an extremely redundant way to signal faction mounts versus neutral mounts. I want to say it was Cata when that tooltip was finally thrown out.

This is like a revisit back in time to 2004-2009. The game is mostly the same as it was then
Retail is the live version of the game. Those events in Classic, TBC, and WoTLK already happened. This is the congruent game that has been running since the game first launched.

Classic is the game mostly as it was when those expansions came out with a few QOL things changed that are possible with the current engine version(s). But for the most part you're playing the game as you did back when that version / build was out.

It is nostalgic to some, and new content to others, and is fun to play if you enjoy WoW. Some people believe Classic was the best version of the game.
Retail has better graphics, updated sounds and textures, etc. it is way more forgiving. Classic is much less forgiving to mistakes and the mechanics are different. There is a lot of maintenance and downtime. Making money takes work and time. Retail is more "on demand" fun whereas classic is a slow burn

Yeah, I remember that long long grind to be able to just do 10man NAXX with friends (we weren't a big group, and most of us worked at the same place then). It was a great time, but its the past for me. It doesn't feel the same, as much as I do like the nostalgia hit, and it doesn't have that same weight because those people aren't playing with me.

It's my understanding that Blizzard intended to release the built-in quest tracker (as per the original 3.3 patch), but didn't make it in time for release. Has there been any word on when this will be implemented? I've been kind of holding off coming back to level without the built-in quest tracker. (I can use Questie if I have to, as it's a great add-on, but I'd prefer to not use any add-ons if they do plan on implementing the quest tracker sooner rather than later.)

idk, what you mean by "classic subscription" but WoW base subscription cost allows you to play classic at no additional cost so by subbing to retail you get three games for the price of one Retail/WoW Classic/WotLK Classic. and it's my own opinion but for roughly 50 cents a day i'd say that's pretty worth it.

@fluid hinge well as far as i know, if you play NA than you are fortunate, because on American PVP server Grobbulus is still well balanced between horde and alliance, 8.3k vs 6.6k. People there reroll to other factions just to keep it real

And I heard my boyfriend too while I was a newbie, I was on the first level then and was on my first days of wow. I think Im playing this game wrong - my goal so far has to meet level 60 ASAP through doing quests, dungeons runs etc. What I dont get is why people are running dungeons millions of times over for pieces of gear - when they could be just questing to level higher up in the mean time?! In the time it takes them to obtain there wanted gear > they could have already level 2 or 3 levels higher. There doing the same dungeon over and over. doesnt that get boring? Suggestions ?
