So basically, in bfa we had the neck called heart of azeroth that had artifact power, this artifact power was gained from all levels of content and we needed the highest levels to unlock our azerite armor, this armor had strong passives for every single class, and as minmaxers we ended up having to run thousands of islands ( the best source of AP) to max out our neck to get the armor rings, and so every patch they kept increasing the level requirement ON THE SAME gear so we just had to keep grinding the same exact gear for the duration of a year or so and that was our artifical progression for the expansion lol, then in 8.2 came essences to help make the expansion even a bit more fun(which it did to be fair, I loved essences), we ended up needing to grind our necks from level 50>65, which took up the entire first 3 weeks of the patch basically for anyone genuinely trying to get that neck level up and basically, if you even took a break, you risked falling behind everyone at the top end if you cared about that stuff

GW2 is fascinating in that there's not really quests
it's all about discovery

well there's definitely a story but I had to pay a significant amount more attention than I did in any other mmo

the story for the base game,totally cuts off at a random point midlevelling
and you dont get anymore quests
only "complete zones"
you do get quests and cutscenes,and all that,like in other mmos,and they make you go talk with people and do stuff,but then at some point you stop getting quests at all
and you're supposed to just go complete zones,
this is for basegame,i do not know if the expansions improved the experience or not

there's a girl, I think she's on Alderaan? not sure. Anyways, she's poor and in danger of her and her family starving or being killed or something like that
and the sith warrior comes in and, if you choose to be good, offers her aid, money, to start a new life
and you know what the jedi do? they say no, she's fine the way she is, she doesn't need anything from a filthy sith
they actively enforce the status quo

because here's the thing, a good sith warrior is the best character in the entire game
because they're not actually good, they're definitely not a jedi
but what they do is realize the empire is flawed and broken
and that every time a sith kills an underling that's them doing the republic's work for them
that they could just win this war if they weren't too bus fighting amongst themselves
