every mmo is focused about killing the boss as fast as possible. I am not talking like dps not important. I mean simply that FF tanks are just stay there. They don't need to press buttons to survive (on top of doing DPS). They can basically just stay there (if dps not important again) facetanking weak hits, until time for nuke comes where they press 1 (maybe 2) buttons, soak this and continue. You are not in threat of dying from anything aside nuke damage (be it simple boss ability or tank busters).
Like look. In wow if i play pala and not press SoTR in normal rotation healer will just go OOM probably (and your DPS will drop). If you play DK and not press DS, you will just die from white hits, Warr? same. and so on.

your rotation in wow serve both to survive AND do dps. In ff14 it only serve to do dps
