@spring heath there is two reasons to my knowledge that give you "FATAL DIRECTX error"

one is the one i've got all throughout the leveling,whenever they decided to use any fancy special effects in cutscenes,where black squares would appear instead of the special effect,and if there were too many black squares(like the Special effect covered the entire screen) the game would crash

OR

the much more common one,is being petitioned by a lot of players on the forums

and there doesnt seem to be a "catchall" solution to it,currently

it certainly has to do with special effects going on,for example,when i bought a laptop and tried gamin on it without installing the drivers(using the integrated graphics card) it would crash on me all the time with directx errors,which didnt happen at all after i installed drivers

there can be an infinite number of errors that could cause it,my error in particular,is two-fold,in FF14(ONLY in cutscenes) when they used some extra fancy special effects,they would show as black squares instead,and it COULD crash the game,but not always

or,in another game,after some time,the game would just turn to a black screen(sound still playing),and then crash,with windows reporting a "nvidia driver xxxx has been restored" error

i tried all the solutions on the internet,like reverting to a previous version of the driver,but that apparently wasnt my problem,apparently for the "other" game,what the problem was,is that the game really didnt like my new monitor's refresh rate,so if i didnt turn on Vsync,it crashed the game because the I/O was taking too much time to respond
