well here's a fact: the fights are largely repetitive and have little to no incentive. there is a reason people avoid trainers and use repels in pokemon, its because there is no meaningful incentive to the fight, and there is no differentiation between each of the fights. this causes the game to feel repetitive.
in hollow knight, i loved every fight, and found myself engaging most enemies i came across. this is because every enemy is vastly different, not only the bosses but the small enemies, too. there was no incentice to do this other than a couple geo, but the fights were genuinely fun.
in ToTK, i also loved fighting enemies, however this was because of the incentive of each fight. even though every fight boiled down to either dodging and flurry rushing, or parrying and wailing on them, the horns you get from dead enemies are a useful material that i always liked picking up.
in omori, there is nether incentive nor innovation in the fights. the optimal strategy always boiled down to make enemy happy, make omori sad, stab stab stab. later you unlock new abilities, but then that just means theres a new optimal strategy that is slightly different.
simultaneously, there is almost no incentive. i get like a few clams, and sometimes a food.
also when i said its bad i meant the gameplay is bad, not like the story.
i know the actual gameplay isnt the main focus of the game. its a horror game and the story is the important part

Iām gonna comment on the hollow knight example cause thatās the only one I have actual experience with: just as you enjoyed the fights in hollow knight, there are people who enjoy the fights in omori, and just as you didnāt like the fights in omori, there are people who didnāt like the fights in hollow knight. It is really just a matter of opinion and the only reason Iām really arguing is cause you are portraying this as though itās a simple fact that the gameplay of omori is bad. And also, on the comment about wanting less gameplay and more story, there is a reason for all of that gameplay that seems pointless that would become evident if you did actually finish the game, which is why I donāt like when people try to critique games objectively that they havenāt played through. it seems mari and sunny were the only ones who really took care of her, and with sunny completely traumatized and mari dead she probably wouldnt have been taken care of. sunnys dad left, so the only remaining person is his mom and I think it's unlikely she took care of mewo
if mewo didn't run away, she died. it has really not been long enough unless mewo got some fatal disease or something, because mewo couldn't have been very old as she was mentioned as maris "new kitten" in a few places
I don't quite know what to make of the mewo stuff in black space, so I'm gonna ignore that completely for now. I think it's most likely unrelated to her fate||
