How do I find animals?

As you explore the map, you will receive notifications in the top-left corner whenever you discover a new animal spawn point.
You can view discovered spawns on the map by enabling the Wild Animals filter. Each discovered spawn will appear as an icon on the map.
At the start of each season, a small random number of animals will appear at each active spawn point.

#

Why are some animal icons greyed out on the map?

A grey icon means all animals at that spawn have been killed.
The spawn will remain empty until the next season begins, when animals respawn.

#

Why have animals stopped spawning?

Animal spawns are refreshed every season, but can be blocked if you build too close to them.

Any player-built object placed within roughly 70 metres of a spawn point can block animals from spawning. This includes:

  • Buildings
  • Roads
  • Small structures like platforms and fences

The spawn will stop producing animals starting the following season.

If the object is removed, the animals will return next season.

Furniture and Decorations will not block animal spawns

**Tip:**Place a map marker on the spawn icon to check your distance using the compass.

Tip: Placing a Hunting Lodge close enough to a Deer or Boar spawns will allow NPCs to hunt these animals. This will not give additional resources. The animal spawn can be emptied this way.

#

Can I reveal animal locations on the map?

Yes. Hunting Vendors and Fishing Vendors can mark all spawn locations for a specific species on your map.
The price depends on the animal. Bears are the most expensive at a price of 5000 coins.

#

How do wild animals behave?

Different animals behave differently. Some species will flee from the player, some will defend themselves if threatened, and some are aggressive predators.

Inspector Mode can be improved with the Tracker skill, allowing you to detect animals in the wild. Animals are colour-coded based on their behaviour.

Aggressive predators

These animals will attack if they spot you. They glow red in Inspector Mode.

  • Wolf
  • Bear
  • Wisent
  • Boar

Defensive animals

These animals usually avoid the player, but may attack if provoked or approached too closely. They glow orange in Inspector Mode.

  • Fox
  • Lynx
  • Badger

Skittish animals

These animals will flee if they see you or are attacked. They glow green in Inspector Mode.

  • Deer
  • Rabbit
  • Moose

All birds and fish are skittish animals and will flee if they see you.

Can I change animal difficulty?

Yes. Under the Customise Game settings, you can adjust:

Animal HP

Changes how much health animals have, affecting how difficult they are to kill.
Minimum: 10%
Maximum: 1000%

Animal Damage

Changes how much damage animals deal to the player.
Minimum: 0%
Maximum: 1000%

The default value for both settings is 100%.

Changes to these settings will be applied after season change.
