#Darker skin tones? [Sensitive topic - Comments are locked]

It’s western medieval Poland bro
Sure. But just on the off chance that people want their avatar to approximate their own skin tones? No dice?
Hypothetically you could have a wide range even in such an isolated community.
there is a broad-ish skin tone, the character I play atm is quite black - though not african-looking.
And? Even if you want to argue they’re all white, white people tanned extremely dark when we had no protection from the sun.
Also, fictional game based on a time period.
A game that wants to stay as accurate as possible to History though.
I don’t really care about that at all when they literally already added dark skin.
Make the customization of the dark skinned character’s, they already added black customization.
Well they add plate armor who got "invented" around 1200AD, but i must agree with Bella
They already added dark skin tones so any opinions regarding making those skin tones more realistically adaptable I’m not interested in hearing.. especially when the game isn’t historical but rather story based with plate armour being one of the more recent adaptations but there’s plenty more to name. If they already added black people, atleast make it realistic. I don’t see why this is controversial.
They already added black so why not?
they added some tanned skin tone, but not "black".... And, as I already said, the game want to stay as accurate as possible to History and they are working with Historians to make sure of that. Yes, they added armors and some other things that don't fit exactly with 1080AD, but there's a limit imo. Having people with asian looks or "black" people doesn't fit with Poland around 1080AD and even if we extend to 1200AD.
And I remind you that everyone can give their opinion. There's no controversy atm, just people saying that it doesn't fit with History. And I won't accept that you try to silence opinions that differs from yours. It's unacceptable. If you're not able to accept others opinions, maybe you should read comments once you gave your opinion on a suggestion.
Asiatic features would actually be more historic than Sub-Saharan. There where peoples like the Avars, Bulgars, Huns, Scythians, Cumins, etc moving through that area for centuries prior and during this time frame.
It’s literally black, there’s no debate.
This is what I’m tryna say but people are mad about the color “black,” being mentioned… I’m sorry but us white people do NOT tan that dark… not even the Italians. Scythians moved from Iran (from what we believe historically speaking) Cumins spain, etc… we had trade routes with south Asians (which do have black/reddish skin tones depending on the area) I really don’t believe the developers of the game added the skin tone black/reddish/brown in order to depict that white peoples turn those tones… we don’t… I don’t see the stipulation with adding black/asian features to a VIDEO GAME… but I dunno I guess all the historical evidence of Africans/South Asians/Arabs isn’t enough for some…
My Dad is full blooded Scottish and darker than most Creole people (people of mixed backgrounds i.e. french, african and native american) so that is simply not true.
Dear lord, I really don’t get the hate with adding character customization but ig pop off?
Im referring to the part of your comment "im sorry but us white people do NOT tan that dark..."
Ive arged in favor of darker skin tones
Anyways…
And? You just going to pretend like you didnt say that? Then attack me for something I did not say?
Did i misunderstand you or are you being intentionally obstinate?
please remain civil, people...
There's mismatched armor, a windmill that's too modern, the 4th wall is broken, the NPC texts are a memegame, a female player can build the village as a woman.
Anyone who rejects the presence of all skin colors despite everything because of some historical correctness should really question themselves. At the end of the day, it's a video game and every player, regardless of gender, hair or skin color, wants to see themselves reflected in the character they create. That's why character creation was added to the game in the first place.
if you disagree, just 👎
what you do just adds drama, and I'm not paid for that
(I'm not paid at all, I'm a volunteer, like all mods ^^)
Fair enough...though I'm more facepalming that this is even a heated debate than the suggestion itself.
The armor is only 20-50 years to "modern". Windmills have existed since antiquity. Blah blah npcs say silly things. Women have always been a part of tbe labor pool. The restriction for female labor is a misconception based on Victorian aristocratic society and its social norms thay only applied to women of status.
You forgot the part where the point is that every player wants to create a suitable character, that's why character creation was added, and that it doesn't hurt you one bit if someone else creates a black character in their game. (And I seem to remember the devs mentioning that the windmill was a few hundred years too early for the area. Since they consult with historians, I believe that).
I intentionally did not react to that part as i agree with allowing people to be creative in a single payer game.
I only intended to dispell your misconceptions.
Add: if you read i have commented in favor of darker skin tones and different face types.
I never heard of a female peasant that built and managed entire communities during the middle ages. Curious to hear about that.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for player agency and options for representation, but this game is not historically accurate and that is totally fine. The devs can add dark skin tones, modern plate armor or same sex marriage, but please stop changing the narrative regarding historical accuracy as it benefits your opinion. This is such an exhausting part of the community to me.
You are no mere peasant. You are a builder sent to help build a community and the local leader is trying to recoup his losses so gives you orders to build a new community.
[Edited]. I suggest you re-read what i have wrote as I make no changing of any historical narratives to support my case. I support the dev striving for Historical Authenticity as Historical Accuracy is not possible.
there were some, but history is written by the winners, so a lot of them were forgotten.
and again, you can have 'good' reasons to disagree with the suggestion, but all pros and cons have already been said here, so arguing about it won't bring anything new.
This is not Twitter, people ^^
My church honors many women who built communities (monasteries) and churches. Alot of people just don't know or don't learn about these women anymore.
It was decided that the thread will be locked to avoid having a new problematic thread here. We saw what it was with other threads (2 were locked already for the same reason). It is clear that all that had to be said was said and people are now arguing with each other.
