After some back and forth with lawyers DIstrokid agreed to keep my music online for 5 years for no fees and to pay compensation. Top Music Attorney (links at #🗣️┃chill-chat message) pointed out how suspicious TuneCore and Symphonic TOS are because they state the company will retain your royalty if your account is terminated for whatever reason, which could be as little as a baseless user complaint

The problem is that Distrokid blatantly breaches it’s own Terms and Distribution agreement and because it is not super big amount of money that they steal you don’t deal with the pain of suing them or hire an attorney. In terms of service provided for the value, I’m thrilled with them ~4 months in.

I know there's strong feelings stemming from some interactions from distributors, so again, I'd never dissuade you from sharing those stories, because that's your truth. I'm glad that we're able to agree to disagree while still respecting each other's takes on the matter.

To be fair, I was so enamored with DistroKid as my "first love" that I never really thought about the concept of needing to move my content to another distributor because things "aren't broken" at the moment, but hearing that there's instances of "hiccups" down the line, it gives me reason to more closely consider which companies I partner with, and why. Just because DistroKid works for me at the moment, it would be a disservice to myself to not read about some competing services and occasionally readdress if a different platform wouldn't be a better fit.

As for now, I'm sure you're face-palming very hard that the other company I'm exploring is also one you have a speckled past with, but they made a compelling case for me to give them a chance 😂

I use Soundrop as my primary distributor, it's 99 cents per track and no subscriptions needed, they do take 15% though which I am fine with because they have been so stable. I am experimenting with BandLab right now and first release went fine, time will tell how good they are

I just saw a couple Flux LoRA models posted on Reddit today, so the rumours of Flux not being trainable don't seem to be entirely accurate.

That said, it's a 22gb model, it takes a LONG time to generate if you're able to generate it on a 12gb card, so I haven't had a chance to play with it locally in the same way.

There's face-swapping AI tools that might be helpful in your use case for generating a body with Flux then swapping the face out with that?

Alternatively, it's possible to train a LoRA of yourself and use that with SDXL for custom portraits or styles, like my profile picture and this goofy-lookin' dude

Jon Fly and I did a prompt experiment playlist for spatial audio tags like "wide-spectrum" and "dobly-atmos" and didn't find there was any discernable difference.

I tried to pick audio tags that would have had a notable difference between professionally recorded tracks that use those methods, but I realize that just using 2 prompts doesn't make a really compelling or informative experiment.

If you have familiarity with these prompts, could you suggest 1~3 that you feel have the most impact on your generations?

(100% not trying to swat down people using things that I haven't been able to make work in my own tracks, just trying to think how I can build on existing tests that I have instead of just thinking of new ones 🙏 )

with Soundful I grab my files and stems and import them right into Logic Pro and can work on tracks, couldn't do that on a phone

they're real stems, a 3 minute track gives you about 1.2GB of files all in WAV format, all the MIDI and a mixed and a mixed and mastered version of the finished track

Suno started off as the "chirp" bot in this Discord -- Chirp was for making music, Bark was for text-to-speech. They open-sourced Bark and spun Chirp off into Suno.com

After they made the website, they turned off the ability to make music through Discord, but there's still old documentation available that talks about the discord commands, or people are using older unofficial tutorials that worked at the time.

I had early-access to Microsoft's Bing AI, and that was a serious life-changer for me early 2023 -- eventually they added plugins (...and then gave up on the whole idea), but Suno was the late addition that actually made it interesting.

It basically was like Simple Mode with a hangover, but that simple addition was pure gold in terms of brand recognition -- later when AI comedy music started getting popular, my interest was piqued because I genuinely enjoyed those songs more than most content on the radio, and that, as they say, was that.
