I've managed to make a couple of things with Udio. It's not awful but a lot of it can be uninspiring or easily forgettable. Wouldn't say it's trash though. It also handles weird prompts fairly well. I made something with intentional screaming in it. Not singing to music just horrific screaming. New trim feature is useful.

Suno is a great tool to find the best tune for my lyrics. It makes it really easy. Specifically the lyrics my friend writes, he writes poems, not lyrics.
Really hard to hit the meters with those. Suno makes miracles.

For changing a middle part of the song that I dislike later, I usually do this:

When you do a an outro re-start the song from start and hope that verses and chorus repeat.
Then you can change the lyrics, mix and match... did that in a few songs of mine. Hard, but works... get ready to burn some credits.

Or if the song is repeating with same instruments, you can always do it later.

It works well with changing male to female vocals.

That's how I feel about it, too. Vocal performance and mix quality is good, it sounds very polished. They added a "trim" feature yesterday so you can now at least cut the song at a part that you like and try different extensions from there (rather than only being able to do this from the end.)

It's definitely not a "Suno killer" like people were hyping about, but it's still very good considering it's a beta.

You can expect differences when Chirp between clips from before March 22 (moving from V3A -> V3) and after that date (and maybe also in songs continued from before that date V3A -> V3, the same way V2 - > V3 songs are not typical of pure V3 songs) but after that there should not be intentional changes. Of course software can have bugs, but at least on purpose, far as I know not intended to be

More like I think it happens more when you extend a song, get 2 options, decide you don't like them, and press extend again before its even finished the two it gave you. Doing this over time feels like it leads to lower quality. Sometimes even outright giving as low as 4 second extends to frequently under 20 seconds. If we could trim audio in suno they could set a minmum extend and that would help with that issue.

I don't think stereo sound is much more expensive to generate (even Suno gives that, but Udio seems to have a "wider" mix.) The overall generation quality is probably the biggie.

I've been happy with Suno even with all of it's quirks, Udio seems to simply lack consistency from what I've heard, which doesn't suit my needs. Suno also leads in user-friendly interfaces. More importantly, I appreciate Suno for delegating the rights and responsibilities of intellectual property and fair usage properly.

Neutrally, neither are acceptable with their strengths and weaknesses. Overall, it comes down to your intent with songmaking.

Though personally I choose Suno for all of my needs.

Through writing this peer review I'm not versed with Udio so I can only speak for Suno at this time, but will be broadening my horizons a little and have more first person experience than from other research

I saw a couple of people trying to be constructive in the discussions. It's really not worth it. A couple of users got timed out or banned here before (not just for questioning quality) and are disgruntled by that. V3a vs V3 is at least a reasonable comparison as they are noticeably different.

I've tried here to explain quality varying including quoting developers stating the models don't change (between versions) and that they don't change quality based on server load. Apparently that's a lie. I've got into an argument with people over this. If people don't trust the developers, well I don't know what to say really lol

I mean there are issues. Like noise accumulation and such but that's just the nature of the model. Just don't extend a noisy clip.. or well at least work around it by trying to insert a break or silence. And I won't say I never had "The Choir" apear but I think the main issue is that harmonics and choir is just so common in most music you need to specifically prompt against it. (and no "no choir" will not help it will probably increase choir because well.. "choir" is in that promot now)

Having spent a significant amount of time the past few days curating really nice hallucinated vocals in Udio, I want to generate some percussion. This is where it seems to struggle. It sounds like the percussion is being played in a tub of water. Suno seems much crisper for this. That's probably why Suno vocals are more scratchy (I often describe Suno's sound as "grainy" in general.) Vocals and instruments with longer attack/release times probably need handling differently to percussion and other short attack/release instruments.
