hmm ... the first one I sent was unaltered. I've taken to split the files in instruments ( slash vocals) and to add a bit of compression and some light effects. Most of my tracks are from V3a and, whilst it was MUCH better than V3 at general composition and not "inviting the whole neighbourhood amateur choir to join in" on jazz and rock tracks, it DID have dirtier vocals with weird clipping, which can be at least partially smoothed with compression. So far all the tracks passed scrutiny, including the first one

I also made a youtube video on some drum n bass., electro and dubstep type music with some personal lyrics about my hometown as it was the birth of UK dubstep back in the day. I didn't quit make some dubstep, more like liquid DnB and Dub mixed together with lyrics all to do with my part of South London and UK dubstep.

If anyone wants me to post the video, it has about 4 examples of V2 Suno Vs V3 Suno. You can hear the step up in quality for sure. Imagine what top production companies have access to!

So I'm curious about people's thought on this topic. Suno is fantastic, but aren't we just discovering this music? It's like tuning the machine to a frequency and getting out an interesting result, almost like a radio. Sure we may provide some prompts and maybe lyrics (if those aren't AI generated as well). But there's no composer and no performer of this music. It's like there's an infinite lake of mathematical computations out there and all we're doing is mining it for music. Not that that makes it any less impressive or any less good music. But it does bring up some questions like is this music copyrightable? Surely it isn't? Surely whoever happened to stumble upon a good tune shouldn't be able to make money off of it? Or?

Had some fun today replacing instruments and vocals on one of my Suno creations. Doing the instruments by ear (find a sample bank that sounds like what I hear, put the notes in.) Managed to shake off the choir from the vocals by doing a stem split, putting them through a couple of different web services that do vocal replacements but they struggle a bit with some of the pronounciations. So then I recorded my own takes and did a vocal replacement on that using the same voice, and then edited the two resulting audios together. This preserves most of the properties of Suno's original generated vocals (accent, etc.)

I even tried starting my message with "Make a song only using the following lyrics:" and then provided the lyrics I wrote. Then, I wrote that I wanted a calm LoFi style with a good vibe.

You don't know but regarding uploading that is totally irrelevant because of the rights belonging to another individual/organization either way

Anyway, not a lawyer or something so I suggest consulting someone who does know their legal stuff regarding copyright and AI. It's all very complicated because this is all still really new. Maybe you can upload a song and give credits, but I would not count on it. Depends on a whole lot of factors

its been well debated in the US law journals...you cant at present copyright anything AI generated....period. You cant copyright prompts either....the issue is commercial vs noncommercial...and websites are non commercial use as there is no monetization ( charge to listen to it )....however its so easy to just create great prompts no one really needs to help another artist out....and this current case shows that even the NYTimes is not likely to win because of "fair use"...remixing of the material....so I would actually say posting your songs opens you to AI remixing

Does anyone have much knowledge of audio editing? I want to know if there is a way to quiet certain sounds. For instance this clip from a song I generated, you can hear this kind of background echo noise. It is fine for certain parts, but in this clip (and a few other parts of the song) it like totally overpowers the parts of the song I really want to hear and also kind of seems to "grind" on my ears if that makes sense.

I'm relatively 'lucky' since I'm a classical composer. Lyricists and songwriters of modern genres are really taking the hit as a lot of clients seem to think AI can replace them already lol I've tested many different music AI generators and Suno is by far the best. My guess is the functional interface will get more complicated as they allow more and more customization of the track editing process. I think inpainting was on their roadmap for v4 where you could highlight just a section for replacement etc. But it might make sense to have more fine tuned control but yeah might not be target audience there

Yeah I'm sure their team won't make the 'rookie' mistake of letting the AI learn from its own generations. Over time it will become gibberish 😂 Think of a photocopied image being photocopied, so on for 10000 times. Eventually it will become a blurred image

Here's my first attempt at making something a bit up-tempo and EDM with v3. Loving how suno is evolving and found the ability to continue from a specific point of time really useful. My workflow at the moment is:

chatGPT for lyrics -> Suno -> fadr for stems - > Logic for tinkering and mixing -> midjourney + Stability video

Here's the finished thing, very happy with Suno, not so happy with my video making skills, there's a whole lot of very strange lip syncing going on 😉

I should pull my finger out and make a video explaining how I make lyrics with chatGPT but the short-ish version is my experience is the more context you give it the better the results you get. I first ask it to act as an experienced song writer and lyricist and answer yes if it understands, I then ask it to to research a subject, for this one I asked it to research the phrase "time to burn" and it's different meanings, I then ask it to write the lyrics for a song about the topic it's been researching from a male or female perspective, in a style and tell it I want the song to be catchy and anthemic and with a sing along chorus (or whatever you're trying to do). I then give it feedback and tell it things like, improve this line, when I'm happy I tell it to write a "best and final version". That's a brain dump if it doesn't make sense let me know

yes https://fadr.com/ has a free version you can try and the quality is pretty good, if you pay you get more stems, but the free version is worth trying. BUYER BEWARE: it's good but not magic, quality will still depend on the quality of the suno output, how compressed the vocals are etc, but splitting it into stems makes all sorts of tinkering possible 😄
