I find it easier to just split the male/female vocals (via repeating in the style section) in different parts (via extend) and clip them together in the end. Less stress (though matching the rhythm can get annoying...)

Unfortunately, the thought process behind AI is very hard to understand. If you try regenerating, it will likely work.

Better yet, add an descriptor like [shredding guitar solo], [plucked guitar solo], etc.

If you are planning to extend it, I would also add something like [guitar interlude] and [shredding guitar break] to help extend the duration in case the AI decides to stop early.

If that still fails, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make some sort of "lyric"/onomatopoeia to represent the shredding, like "shriinng-brriinnngg", maybe even "!!!---!!!^^^"?)... doubt it would work but might help for it to understand the duration... but the above should hopefully work out better

I know there's a lot of discussions over duets. I think I finally found a way to create duets with an acceptable success rate and have control over who sings what.
The process is simple and is somehow based on Suno's limitations 🙂

Start a song with one voice. At some point before you want the second voice to come in, add a short instrumental part. I recommend the instrumental part to be short, you'll see why. DON'T merge them. Continue the instrumental part with a new part having lyrics. Add appropriate tags both in the style and inside the lyrics (eg, female vocals). 95% of the time this will work because you haven't merged the parts and the last one was instrumental so the bot has no memory of any voice. Note: this won't 'sound like' any of the melody before. It's appropriate for example in a bridge. It won't replicate the chorus with a different voice.

Next, merge the parts. Now, the rule is that the first singer's voice shouldn't be more than 1 minute in the past and if you wish to preserve the chorus, it's entirety should still be part of the last minute, so the bridge with the new voice should be pretty short. Its main purpose is to make the bot aware of a new voice. Now, you can add new lyrics and prefix them with male or female vocals. In an acceptable amount of time (maybe 50%?) it will give you the male or female voice.

It's still not a real duet, I know. They still sing separate parts of the song and not together.
But at least it's not such a credit burner.

You can usually get around this by mis-spelling words deliberately

No it's always 2 songs, even for subscription. It seems strange but often there's one you'll like more than the other. The subscription lets you have more songs being created at the same time only if you want to (don't have to wait for songs to finish generating before creating more.) so you won't get 10 each time

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn’t work for me. What worked is when I extend the 1st part where the chorus was generated, it worked just fine but the only problem is I wouldn’t be able to merge all three clips because the 3rd clip extended the 1st clip only

You are probably asking for a genre or have lyrics that to the AI feels like it should be song by a woman. What usually helps is saying it more often in your "style of music" to give it more weight, and also add it in your metatags.

I was having problems making longer song but I found a useful tip.

When you create your first and second part combine them into a whole song. Then extend from the whole song and add each part into a merged song before creating the next part

Instead of just extend>extend>extend
Keeps the song more consistent

But I also noticed that longer songs the vocal quality tends to become slightly static or tinny the longer the song

Any solutions for reducing the loss of quality on longer songs

only stuff like that, adding back in actual song terms depending on the results

Just be sure to document the style prompt when you do this, as if you made changes between the parts and the reflow into whole song it will revert those to whatever the original prompt was in the first part.

Also doing this too many times without enough parts may cause the AI to 'gag' on the song and repeat the previous part like a hallucination ignoring the new parts. So it's a useful tool but like any other it needs to be used appropriately.

with bark ai text to speech, how can I change the final inflection of the tone of the generated voice?
for example, I'm using it to generate very short clips such as "It's 7:30 in the morning." When you think of somebody saying this you think of it ending with a downwards inflection. For some reason instead, almost every single time it's generated it's an upwards inflection which makes it sound very weird and leaves an uneasy feeling. How can I either programmatically fix this or fix it through literal formatting?

Create a variant of whatever voice you are using by trying different text prompts until you get one that reliably speaks with a downwards inflection. in particular this format I had good success with

any musical style that commonly has noise on it, but it's normal, sounds good/is controlled will help keep clarity

since it sort of gives the model "what to do" with its own errors

presumably from the quant

other things that help is to start your voice up at the beginning with "midwest" "midwest emo" or other vocally distinct genres, then switch to your genre in a very fast continuation

but I typically don't do that, although I do always start with something clean and clear, but switching go something opposite will affect the style too strongly. You're not going to get emo into metal that easily (although you might thanks go screamo)

I'm just going by what the developers have said previously (models being frozen - also quality doesn't depend on server load.) To me it seems like the audio quality has always been pretty bad. I listened to some of my older generations yesterday and ones I thought were great at the time don't sound so great to me any more (quality wise). Some songs sound better than others.

The handling of lyrics is probably something they can tweak (there was a weird glitch where songs kept having the word "start" in them, or would cut short.) But in general, there's always been the chance that it ignores lyrics when provided them, or sings nonsense when you want an instrumental, and its unwillingness to do outros and endings is an ongoing thing that is often commented on. It even ignores styles a lot of the time. It can be frustrating at times but these aren't new behaviours.

It'd be quite annoying if the model evolved over time.

Two languages, yes, but they must be written in the language you want sung (e.g.Use English for English verses and Mandarin/Cantonese for Chinese verses).

Getting duets though... that is more luck than anything else. Try to use male and female sounding names in tags, that might help, but it is still hard to achieve.

Example with English and French (the language in the tags are useless, they are there for people reading the lyrics)

Again, getting it working on purpose is hard. It is much easier to make something like an Instrumental part 1 then Extend it twice (one extension where you specify for male vocals, the other for females) then edit them together in a DAW.

This is still bogus. If you limit the hardware it will only compute slower not worse. The only way the quality decreases is if you change the models parameters to lower values. The LLM itself does not "try" anything it is only a very complex algorithm that gets executed. And said execution will lead to the same quality independent of if you execute it on Nvida H100 or a toaster. The toaster will just take 10 years to finish.

Again in a deathspiral, but financial. Now this would matter generally in 2 scenarios: debt financing or M&A negotiations. Both are looking keenly at your ebitda-%, not your sales increase %, because it matters only HOW you are growing (ie. sustainable growth). If your model is too powerful for its own good and decreasing the number of GPU does not materially impact your sales, it's smart to degrade the model to make the company more attractive to both debt financers and possible buyers.

This is unfortunately the nature of AI continuation. Reverb noise can build up, and actually block the dynamic range.

It a genre thing, but also a bit of luck
metal and shoegaze suffer the most (because reverb and guitars and often vocals all around the same frequency), RnB and Electro don't have it much at all (because they don't stay in that frequency)

The best way to avoid it is to ruthlessly avoid any clips that start to have 'that sound', but genre tweaks might also help.... I'm not a big Rock person, so I'd think others may have better genre/prompt advice

Based on what you said in #💡┃suggestions-web message , it looks like you are trying to set the "Extend From" to 02:30? If so, of course it won't work, the base generation goes up to 02:00

It is asking where in the base/Part 1 song you want to continue from for the next part. The next part will continue after that time point. In order to get the entire thing together, you do Get Whole Song in Part 2+ which will combine the derived parts together

Hello all, I'm using V3 and have some time noticing that when start creating the song {voice melody and style} it start ok but after the second extended song it degrade the quality big time, by the 3 or 4 extended song there is a lot of interference electronic ghosting and the voice immerse in the interference hope you understand what I mean.

1a) Does your song have the exact lyrics as the other song? You certainly are violating copyright and there is likely almost nothing you can do other than contacting the original holder and getting a license to use that copyrighted material.

2. Is the song a cover? You still need a license - I believe it was called the mechanical or synchronization license, you will need to look into it.

3a) Copyright music? See point 1 if it sounds identical (i.e. taken from that source).

3b) Sounds similar but is quite distinctively different? You will likely want to do an appeal but be sure to look more into this and have evidence ready to be provided. It will likely take some time to resolve.

5. Another scenario? Please explain further.

Note that these were from searches I have done, you need to do your own research, and I am not a lawyer, not legal advise, etc.

E.g. if you have taken the lyrics from another material, even if you had written it up in Word, you knowing took the exact same lyrics (which is someone's copyright) and thus are in violation of it.

If you randomly got a music that very similar to the other person music, see my points 3a and 3b... you are better off regenerating though in this case

The general advice is to try changing up the way you Extend in cases like that. Specifically, instead of using the end of the clip, start backing up by 5, 10, 15 seconds more. And adjust the lyrics prompt to add back in any lines of lyrics that are now missing. It's often best to try and find a time that is during a natural pause in the song, like at the end of a line of lyrics.

okay query to the general public here about generating specific ~feelings of songs

So I'm terrible at describing the sound of things. I took a music theory/history class once upon a time and learned things like "Ah, this is polyphonic, this is baroque era, this uses blah blah blah" but I remember almost nothing of it, and a lot of it isn't the kind of music I would be trying to describe now anyway.

So my first attempt (beyond just describing "male vocalist, guitar, melancholy") to get an idea of how to describe things was by asking another AI. I tried both ChatGPT and Copilot (copilot didn't believe me when I asked for a BRIEF description, so it ended up being largely ChatGPT) to describe the genre/sound of songs that I liked the feel of.

Another person mentioned using Udio, typing in "in the style of ____" and looking at what tags Udio used to replace the artist, then copying them over.

Still another person recommended sonoteller.ai, which breaks things down into genres and subgenres but otherwise just describes the song in a long-winded, human way that's unhelpful for the limited number of characters we have to describe the musical style.

Does anyone have any tips?

Using existing artists or song titles will likely be ignored, if not censored. Very likely such information was stripped out from the training to avoid lawsuits (assuming if they were included in the first place).

You will need to use style keywords in custom mode to get as close to the genres you want.

E.g. you may want to try Ibiza Trance as one of the styles for ATB-like music (https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/atb)

Though I recommend looking at a specific song for more accurate styles. There are other sites as well to identify song genres like https://sonoteller.ai and Chosic's music genre finder (Spotify only, <

and as a bonus if you'd like, ask it for a picture in the style box as well

Depending on where you extend from you'll get 10~ or so seconds where the song should end. Plus if you asked for it, a nice picture

Hello Everyone. Is there a guide to using Suno somewhere that gives you the step-by-step? I'd like to create a song providing specific information, but not actual lyrics. I've spent an hour trying to figure it out, but no joy. 🤔

ahhhh... I got it... the "Extend from" dialog box seems to default poulate is the end time code of the song, and the song I was trying to extend ended in silence for the last few seconds. Moved the time back into the song a little and it worked.

Exactly. And you can go back as much as you want, get a few new outcomes, and mix if needed.
I specifically do that for "wrong" lyrics on "good" verses or chorus. I repeat it after the wrong one, and get the correct lyrics.

You get a nice variation on the lyrics with this format. You can use [hook] for repeating lyrics.

There are a lot of tags I tried, and got some good songs out of those.
If you do not tag the lyrics, it can re-repeat the same, or come up with a different melody for the same lyrics.

With tags, it gets better. It's just a way of guiding the model as best as possible.

coda - for ending
solo -- add a piano, volca or guitar, not works well, instrument is random.
instrumental -- works similar to interlude
vamp -- think bohemian rhapsody
build-up / drop
fade-in / out
tag -- works well with single word lines
a section / b section -- similar to verse, sometimes works well
modulate / modulation -- can introduce a key change. not working well

"tag" is used to refer to a short, repeated phrase or section at the end of a song... Not using much these days.

I was using "outro" to try and get things to be sung as the outro, and it sometimes made things just fade into silence instead of singing the lines, which took me a bit before I realized it was the tag messing things up for me (even though it hadn't before)

A trick someone mentioned, which I've experimented with it in a very limited fashion - you can add a "mood" to an instrument or voice.

So you could try "depressed cello" or "sad cello" in the style. You might also try provoking the cello to start by putting [cello solo] in the lyrics, and then when you have a part with a cello, extend that, setting the extend time to where the cello starts, and put your real lyrics in the new part.

I've kinda found that, for extensions, it will remember what it was already doing and you can just give it guidance on what you want to happen next. So I tell it minimal information. Literally just "glockenspiel" in the style, and keep trying until it obeys me (or until I give up lol), and then on the next extend, change the prompt to something equally just as specific and short, instead of trying to put it all in the style prompt and hope it understands all of it first time around.

Downside is it uses a lot more credits. But could bring you closer to the result you wanted, quicker, so maybe saves some credits?

Most important thing overall is to find a good starting point / first part as it seems to carry that throughout the whole song. I deliberately extended something that was low-quality because it sounded like an old-fashioned recording. It stayed that way throughout 😄

I've been experimenting with longer songs, and I've noticed a repeatable problem. As a song gets longer, the instruments get more tinny/shallow.
