Personally, it's hard to evaluate because I don't understand the lyrics and I evaluate songs on three things:
- General vibe
- Overall sound - and if it's pleasing
- Lyrics - smart, engaging, good flow
I can't really evaluate on #3.
On the other two, I think the original song sounds better to my ears. It's smoother and in a more chill style - which is my vibe. (I also don't care much for heavy metal or harder rock and roll - that's a personal choice obviously as both of those categories are well liked by people)
