a lot of songs simply have too many words... not just in quantity, but variety... a lot of songs have too many choruses/verses, or too many lines... etc... if a song can get in and out in 2-3mins, and leave more of an impression, thats usually better for me... although its pretty easy to make a 'good' song in the 3-4 min range, thats where they can also noticeably start dragging on too long if they're filled with stuff thats not really... helpful
