Suno version 5.5 does seem to improve some important fundamentals. The vocal quality is noticeably better, especially in the singing, cadence, and pronunciation. Parts of the production also sound cleaner, even if there is still some of the familiar noise in the stems.

That said, the overall result feels disappointingly generic. For all its technical polish, much of it comes across as homogenized, Frankenstein-like, and ultimately boring. There is very little character, and almost nothing unexpected or genuinely interesting happens. In trying to sound more refined, it almost feels as though the model has become too literal.

Version 5 may have been the better balance point. Ideally, Suno would keep the stronger voice quality of 5.5 while bringing back some of the creative spark and unpredictability that version 5 seemed to preserve.
