I run the Mate desktop and Gnome has been nibbling away at the corners until its harder and harder to keep doing so. I detest KDE personally (but if people like it, I'm happy for them it's just not for me) and I refuse to use Gnome because of how they've destroyed it since v2.x so since Windows is worse and no good shell replacements exist any more the only real option is OSX.

Besides I like iMovie and there's only one way to use it.

That's my point. They've taken customization away from us.

In the old days you could replace just about everything in Windows and it would look how you wanted it and work better for you. Now there is only the bloated corpse of Explorer on everything. You have no consistency with your billboard operating system.

In Linux the options were even bigger and better. You could theme everything. Then developers started getting pissy about it and they added stuff that could not be themed around and enforced a theme even when using the apps on a different desktop. Inconsistency became the name of the game.

So if I've lost the ability to customize any way I may as well pick the desktop that has the apps I want to use and access to more which I can live with the most.
