Ive tried both. Usually if its singing style its something in style causing it. For example ive tried mixing english style, with kanji, a few kanji mixed worh english could ruin everything. Other times is too many tags. Other times its writting style like i am speaking to some one. The best thing is no filler words at all and no spaces, in a comma seperated block. And a meta tag for style or genre at top of style. The best way to write a single portion before a comma is max 3 words, and a hyphen counts that as 1 word.

As a performer, and I have uploads and videos to prove that statement, knowledge of musical theory is learned skill. Using that skill, you can create what you want or need in ai as long as those metatags exist within its training. So, then, someone who learns how to prompt in suno is learning musical theory.

It's knowledge base on music terminology and instruments to get the precise sounds you want followed by, in most cases, creative writing to express or redirect emotions into lyrics. Yes, people don't play the instruments and yes, people don't make the instrumentation in most cases.
