I came up with a fun experiment for the year. For each book I read, I'm going to create a song inspired by that book. Sometimes it may be a retelling of part of the book. Sometimes it may be a little "behind the scenes" insight from a specific character's perspective. Sometimes it's a completely original idea that takes place in the universe of the story. That's really the way to think, I feel. It's such an early moment in this whole thing we really have no concept of the future yet. It's like looking at the first mainframe computers in the 1950s and trying to predict the laptop or an iPhone. You might get a few things right but mostly it's such a difference in scale of what was the beginning and what is possible as the tech gets better and more and more applications (pun intended) get made for it that there's just a huge gulf to transcend. We can't really know what it will be like.

tl;dr; about Atmos -- it gets you better audio quality than other formats on certain hardware (more channels than just 2, and better than regular surround sound because the receiver hardware can render the track dynamically based on the room setup it's configured for)
