studio's EQ options have fixed a lot of issues for me, honestly... a lot of what i would "like" about some gens, was just the way they were EQ'd .... but a lot of times I find what I "like" about the first gen is something like a raw/noisy/damaged aspect of it that i think is 'bad' at first blush, but keeps growing on me the more i try to fix it
