Hey Chad! Could you please elaborate?

I tried to share a generated voice to the library. It's not possible. And Vanishing confirmed it's no longer possible, but this change has not been announced.

I see! Yes, synthetic voices are no longer sharable. Those you've already shared will stay for now, but you cannot share new ones.

#

So nothing changes for already existing voices.

my problem is a bit similar. After my account was deleted and then restored, I have around 150 voices that were in the Voice Library which are no longer in the voice library. I'm helping people when I can with direct links. But, I have no way of getting those voices back into the library so that panicked users can find them. Just pointing it out. I'm doing what I can, but some of those voices had huge followings.

I'm not complaining, just pointing out the issue. I'm helping people when I see them ask for the voices in the support chat.

Thanks, Novum. Yeah, I'm sorry—I do know about your very unfortunate situation. I truly appreciate your efforts in helping the community and those trying to find voices.

Thanks for confirming, but you didn't really answer my questions. Why has this change been made and why was it not announced?

I don't have any insight into any internal discussions, but I think it's pretty clear some of the reasons why the ability to add them to the library was disabled.

Number one reason by far is there are now a very large number of Professional Voice Clones available. A couple of the other main reasons is likely the amount of time it took up to approve generated voices before they are added as well as the fact there are a lot of low quality generated voices. Takes a lot of effort generating new voices and properly testing them for consistency/stability, which was often not happening.

The more cynical side of me suspects that users were getting too many 'free' credits. PVC quality control is pretty poor anyway IMO.

Still pretty poor for a company to make such a change and not inform its customers though.

I'm really sorry that this change has affected you so greatly. From what I gather, VAN pretty spot on; the reasoning behind this change mainly revolves around the introduction of Professional Voice Clones and that we now have a substantial number those clones.

While I don't have the specific details on why this wasn't officially announced, I don't think that the feature to share generated generated clones and earn something from that was meant to be a feature in of itself -- just a fun thing we added. It is also a resource sink to verify review in general and with the increasing load of PVCs.

The abundance of professional voice clones now available offers much greater variability compared to what was previously offered with generated voices. Because of this, the decision was made to deprecate the ability to share those generated voices.

Again, I'm sorry to hear you were so greatly affected by this. We did just add 3x rollover for credits so people won't lose them.

Also, we do have a high-quality tag that should generally be of high quality voices.

Thanks. I wouldn't say I've been greatly affected, it was useful in getting extra credits. I do think on the whole though as a company, Eleven Labs needs to improve in communicating changes to its paying customers. As I mentioned earlier, you've still not announced that credits rollover, although I suspect this is deliberate for fairly obvious reasons, IE you don't want people to start hoarding credits.
