Hi Sof! Sorry for the inconvenience on Voiceover. I just fixed it and it should be available once we release an update (within a day or two).

About other languages - we're on it! Will keep you posted.

Could you please consider implementing the VoiceOver's "magic tap" gesture to be able to play/pause using a 2-fingers double-tap from anywhere? Moreover, we have a few ulabeled buttons in the Player screen. Thanks.

#

With VoiceOver, there's apparently no way to change the default voice, I'm stuck on Brian. I can play other voices, but I cannot switch to it.

TY! Accessibility is one of our priorities, so I already fixed missed labels. Again, it will be available within the next release cycle.
It should also fix voice switch (it will be available on player screen when we add this missing labels).

Wow I can already see the fixes for the seek back/forward buttons and also the «select voice» one! This one is not activable though. Maybe in the next beta.

@vale musk „use” button is not clickable through voiceover or another one? If the latest fix doesn’t fix that, I must look further.

Thanks for confirming. I see - we didn't added necessary labels for voice list that is popping up. I added labels and they should be available today 🙂 (And will make sure to review other screens too!)

Ok, this should also be addressed with new update coming soon

vale musk
#

Again on the VoiceOver topic, could you please manage that the Play button will be labeled "pause" during playback and "play" when it's not? thanks

quasi kernel
#

@vale musk sure! The new update is coming today, it will include enhanced labels and... 🥁 🥁 🥁 magic gesture tap for pausing 🙂
Update: still waiting for apple review (there may be a one-day delay with update)

vale musk
#

Waiting impatiently for it! One more thing for the next one: It would be great to have the playback speed control adjustable so one can swipe up and down to modify the speed and having a value or two below 1 x would be grat to slow down the playback a bit. 🙂 Thanks again for your work.

@vale musk update is in testflight! Looking forward for your feedback ✌️

vale musk
quasi kernel
#

Ah yes, it may take some time to propagate.

#

I'm especially interested in your feedback on hand warmer update - is it still that hot 🙂

vale musk
#

Got it. I'll test later today if it's still hand warming. So far that controls are correctly labeled but butons are still not activable when VO is on: so far "Import", "select voices" in the player screen... and when I hit the "play" button, I'm still waiting for playback and there's no way to know if the app is doing something or not since the button is always called "Play".

quasi kernel
#

Ah I see - loader on the play button was not covered. I will add this.

#

For import and "select voices", I think it might be a problem with a bottom sheet we open - it's not that accessible as we thought.

vale musk
#

if I "click" this "import" button when VO screen recognition is on, I can indeed see some kind of popup with a "close" button" and the ability to import a file and this works. But in VO normal mode, I can only see the "close" button but not the rest of the import screen dialog

quasi kernel
#

I have found this is a known issue with a library we use. I will look for a replacement.

vale musk
#

I still can't say if the phone is as hot as before since I need to test more but in terms of accessibility, I'm sorry to say that the Magic tap is not working (I think you said it should). In VO screen recognition mode, I've found out that the reading percentage is displayed in the library screen. It would be great to have it with VO too.
In the playback screen, there's a slider to seek back/forward in the book but it's not visible with VO although this slider doesn't seem to move that much in the book. maybe it has something to do with buffering concerns. I may have other similar VO glitches but I don't want to overflow you 🙂

quasi kernel
#

Hm, Magic Tap should work. I will push an update, just with another method. Also, I wrapped a slider with better accessibility label, so it will report on progress and duration.

#

About buffering - yes, we show "duration" only for the part we downloaded, so it's not a duration of a whole content. For longer contents we have "chapters", which are accessed from the chapters buttons at the top 🙂

Hey, sorry to hear that we broke it. We're still in beta mode trying to get better without breaking other parts. I just pushed a new instant update, there should be now accessible import, voice selector and more.

The loader is OK too on the «play» button. Thanks

vale musk
#

The way how the progress is displayed in the playback screen is better indeed! Would it be possible to make it adjustable (slider) to be able to move in the book more quickly?

quasi kernel
#

Yeah, beta cycle is crucial for us to make it stable. Really appreciate your help @vale musk !
We'll think of some better seeking, now it's just available for the content that was buffered (and not ahead).

@quasi kernel Hi. I've imported another book and the chapters button is not accessible! As for the magic tap, it's weird. It worked just now, within the appn but not when I put the app in the backbround. Then I tried to choose one of the new voices (matilda), restarted the playback, and the magic tap doesn't work anymore.

quasi kernel
#

@vale musk we surely have to look into how we process books - some of them don't have chapters after we parse them. For magic tap we need bit more investigation as well - it's not stable enough yet.

vale musk
#

Also, during playback, VoiceOver navigation is slightly less responsive as before.

#

and one more thing, when double-taping the Delete button to remove a book from the library, it opens the reader view instead of displaying a deletion confirmation.

quasi kernel
#

@vale musk with "slightly less responsive" you mean that some labels are misplaced or is it slower to react?

#

I will look into deleting action

quasi kernel
#

Ok, I improved the delete action accesibility, it will be there on next update 🙂

#

Magic tap can take a bit longer

vale musk
#

It also seems that you have decided to hide the text displayed in the reader, which is a good thing with VoiceOver, as before we could only read one word at a time, not practical. However, if you manage to display it in a way that allows line by line scanning, that could be good.

quasi kernel
#

Yes, we disabled displayed text, as the app is itself a voiceover. We would probably rely more on progress slider, where we should be able to scroll through the whole content (and not just loaded content as it is now).

vale musk
#

Version 1.0.0 (34): Thanks for the accessibility improvements regarding files deletion, it's OK now. It now seems that the displayed progression is global now (not buffer-based anymore). As a reminder, the progress slider is no actionable using VoiceOver for now. While the book is being played, navigating using VoiceOver is still quite sluggish, although this should be confirmed a device newer than iPhone 11. And, can't wait for French voices!

quasi kernel
#

Thanks for feedback @vale musk ! In about 1 hour there will be a quick update (the one that applies automatically) that will add slider actions, so seeking by 5, 10 and 20 percent. Hope it helps!

vale musk

Now, since the "text content" is no longer visible using VoiceOver, may you have the "text content" ignored by VoiceOver, unless you plan to make it visible again? If not, this would avoid an extra swipe 🙂

quasi kernel
#

Good point - we'll remove text content label 👍

#

Update is on the way (~1hr and it will be there)

vale musk

Hey @vale musk, I’ll look into that tomorrow. We disabled the displayed text from VO, not sure why it’s there again. Definitely a bug, not a feature.

quasi kernel
#

@vale musk we had to restore label for that text content to forbid VO from accessing it's content. It's additional step, but should be definitely more usable. Update is already there 👍
