Rise against is a Chicago band and they currently are in the middle of a break before they up back on tour next month

Maybe I’m forgetting but did it seem to anyone else like Emily spent very little time at her “post” once they’d flipped sides for the back 40% of the show? It seemed like after one or two songs she ended up spending all her time on the ends of the stage, only coming back for water between songs and the occasional verse/chorus. I’ve come away from the show feeling very satisfied with the amount of Mike I got but it feels like I barely got to see Emily.

VIP = Very Inadequate Package

I regret doing the Heavy is the Crown package (and have the same for LA)... As stated, the "limited edition" posters don't include a tube (you get a rubber band), the "commemorative ticket" is a magnet that doesn't look anything like a ticket (so much for adding it to my LP ticket collage), and it didn't even get us in early. The bag is nice, and I like the poster, but it was 100% not worth the cost when I could've done GA and used my LPU EE to get in early.

Thankfully, my brother was able to hold a place at the rail for us.

LPU memberships used to actually mean something. When I pay extra for a ticket, I think it should still mean something.

For future reference, it's unclear but you can do LPU EE while having a VIP package that doesn't include Early Entry.

Not to invalidate your feelings, I do feel they could have done a better job of making some of the lower level VIP packages better value-for-money.

And IMO the LPU membership is still very much worth the money if you go to shows because of the presale and early entry which gets you an experience very similar to the most expensive VIP package (most of the time early entry and merch shopping unless you're at a very in-demand show).

yeah, they've not done very many fan meets this tour. A good portion of the band is new and I think they're still getting used to the degree of celebrity and engaging on their own unstructured terms right now (eg colin at barricade, appearing randomly at popups, etc)

Let's say you show up at 4:30 for LPU EE. At 4:30 (assuming that's the start time for LPU EE) you go inside. Inside there is a desk at which you can get your VIP merch. Once you've got that you can go merch shopping or whatever until they ask you to line up at like 5:45.

I'm really glad to know this now, since I'll obviously be attending LA, too, but they really should've communicated non-Overflow VIP better. The EE email basically said it was for regular GA tickets--I figured that meant mine didn't apply.

My wife was super uncomfortable in the direct sunlight and humidity as we waited to get inside at 6 because we thought we couldn't use our EE with Heavy is the Crown tickets. 😞 We're happy to be going home to the dry heat of Las Vegas.

Just make sure that you show up early, but it sounds like you’re planning to do that anyway. For the current North America show it seems like it’s been pretty low in terms of competition but for New York for example there were maybe five people in line at around 10:30 or 11 so you should be OK.

In Chicago at least on the barricade along the thin side of the stage, it was one of the mildest crowds I’ve ever been in for a major artist. Barely had anyone touch my back and every time I even slightly touched or got touched by the people to my sides, they’d say sorry like they’d done something wrong! Honestly was kind of hard to show how hyped I was and I felt a little bad when I was jumping or head banging. From my understanding the thin area of crowd along front/back of the stage are very mind and larger areas on the sides are where people go to mosh. I really wouldn’t be that bugged about bringing a kid as long as they know they may get bumped a little and the people standing around you are cool.

May depend on the opener too. I would be a lot more cautious if it was one of the shows with Peggy opening based on his crowds (although I’m sure they’re not half as hyped at opening sets where it’s mainly LP fans).

it depends on where you decide to stand and how much your child can take. that is a long time for her to stand around, especially with including early entry. i saw a child about the age of yours that was standing along the outside of the pit that looked utterly exhausted by the end of it.

I’m not an expert but I believe back of the pits have to have a lot of space at the back, to both prevent crushing of those at front and allow safe exit if an emergency.

What do people think are the best spots for in the round for Philly tomorrow?

if you look at the map to orient the directions I'm talking about here, here are my suggestions:

• Top and bottom will be basically the same. Half way through the show they rotate the stage so everybody will see everybody. Mike and Em move around so much between sides that it doesn't matter. For early entry, they will line LPU up against one (the bottom in our case) and VIP against the other (top in our case). Not sure if which one it is changes per show. In my personal opinion the best spot is the dead center of the top and bottom, but that's not going to be easy to get, especially if you don't have early entry. In terms of moshing, these areas will have very little moshing as their tiny and people are trying to keep their spots.
• Left, right, and corners are good spots, and have really good viewing, Mike and Em spend a decent amount of time there but I would imagine it's harder to see Joe and Colin super well as they're consistently oriented towards either the top or bottom. Moshing is significantly more common here, my friends who love moshing had a great time in the corners.

It wasn't too bad, i wasn't really pushed around but you also know im built like a linebacker.... most of the moshing i saw was behind us that where right against the barricade.

He has to hit them hard because they're pressure sensitive and play different synth drums depending on how hard he hits them!

He mentions it in an interview that they did it to give the synth drums more of a "played live" feel

Their whole setup is highly Digital, I've seen some of the interviews with the techs guitars route through a case of processers and out, no amps, and from what i gathered they use a software called Ableton for the effects.

That won’t stop you! Since your vip has a pit ticket with NO early entry included you can still use LPU early entry. But you should try to pick up your vip merch as soon as you get inside if you can- you can even email [e-mail] and ask questions. They usually keep the vip check in open until 8pm
