#Question about Dune: Awakening Server Waves (June 5 vs June 10)

Hello, I’m planning to pre-order a private server for Dune: Awakening, but I need clarification first.

Funcom is launching two waves:

June 5: Early Access with DeepDesert official servers.

June 10: Full release with new DeepDesert servers opening for new players.

Will GPortal follow the same model?
In other words:
Will players starting on June 10 be placed in new DeepDesert worlds, or will they join the same DeepDesert worlds opened on June 5?

This info is essential before committing to a server. Thanks in advance

Thanks again — just to clarify my question, because I think there might be some confusion:

We do not want to play on a DeepDesert battlegroup that opens on June 5.

We want to start only on June 10, and only if there's a brand-new DeepDesert battlegroup that also opens on June 10, with no players from the June 5 launch.

So my real question is:

➡️ Will private server customers be able to select a DeepDesert battlegroup that opens freshly on June 10, just like Funcom is doing for official servers?

That detail is really important to us before pre-ordering.

Just to explain why this is so important for us:

We're a structured guild with a dedicated rush group that has over 700 hours of playtime during the beta. We've trained specifically to reach the DeepDesert as fast as possible at launch, to secure an early foothold and make our early-game progression easier.

However, we also have newer players in the guild who barely touched the game, except for the 2-day open beta. We want to give them time to explore the game at their own pace during the 5 days of Early Access on official servers.

Then, on June 10, we plan to all start together, on our private (Sietch) server, and go full rush mode.

But for this plan to work, we absolutely need to start on a brand-new DeepDesert battlegroup, one that was not available on June 5.
If we end up on a battlegroup that already has players with 5 days of head start, the rush is meaningless — the early control of zones, resources, and dominance will already be gone.

That’s why this question is crucial for us before committing to a server provider.

@rich harness Hi, I noticed that the maximum number of slots for private servers seems to have changed.

Yesterday I saw that it went up to 100 slots, but now it's limited to 40.
Can you confirm if this is a temporary change, a display issue, or an intentional limitation?

We need this information before finalizing our server order.

No problem, here’s a quick recap of our main question:

Funcom is opening DeepDesert Battlegroups in two waves:

On June 5 for Early Access players.

On June 10 for the full release, with new DeepDesert instances opening for new players.

What we need to know is this:

➡️ If we create our private server (Sietch) on June 10, will it be connected to a brand-new Battlegroup opened on the 10th,
or will it be attached to a Battlegroup that has already been active since June 5?

Our goal is to avoid playing in a world where players already have a 5-day head start — we want a completely fresh environment starting June 10.

On that I'm not 100% sure, but you should be able to select a battlegroup that only contains servers starting on the 10th

not a 100% on this but i believe the plan was to make seperate battlegroups for 5th and 10th to keep it balanced

it is very important for us because we want rush the start to be first in the deepdesert. We trained in the closed beta for this 😉

This may be the rational behind the 40-player limit. Here is a snippet from a larger article (link included).

"What’s important to note is that while a Hagga Basin server can support 40 people playing concurrently, the way populations ebb and flow over the course of a day means that it still supports several hundred people picking that server as their home."
