New Gen Rust

Hi G Portal Support,

I saw that upgrades to the new Rust servers are on the way for June 19th, and I wanted to check in about how this transition will work for our existing Rust servers.

Can you provide details on how the upgrade process will go? Specifically:
   •   Will all of our current server data transfer automatically (kits, ban lists, VIP lists, permissions, config files, etc.)?
   •   Is there anything we need to back up or prepare ahead of time?
   •   Will there be downtime or a specific window when the transfer happens?

We just want to make sure nothing gets lost in the process. Any guidance you can give would be appreciated.

Hey there 🙂 we are currently collecting all the questions our community might have, so your text is very helpful!
What I can say for now, is that you will be able to change your server from old gen to new gen, guess with a dropdown menu for „versions“ or something in that direction.

About the other question, I will make sure that we answer them all in time so you all can prepare 🙂
I will post it as an announcement like an FAQ 😊

I wanted to reach out with a few questions about the upcoming Rust server upgrade happening on June 19 and add on to what wonka said . We want to make sure everything is in place on our end and avoid any unexpected issues during the switch.

Will our current server settings (such as map size, seed, decay rate, and plugins) carry over automatically?

Will this upgrade impact scheduled wipes or planned events we already have set?

Is there a way to test the new server setup beforehand or get early access?

Will server performance noticeably improve (e.g. less lag, better stability)?

Will we be able to add a third-party provider or platform for where our server is hosted, to help prevent the servers from getting DDoSed so easily?

So with the current wipe happening today and the next gen update coming on 19th of June. I’m guessing if we upgrade our servers on 19th then all the old gen players will lose access to our servers. Is there any way around this? Or are Gportal considering this scenario? Because a lot of us with popular servers will lose a lot of loyal players and really annoy people just switching mid wipe when they have already committed

Will we be able to change our servers to new gen during pre-release, or will we need to wait until full launch?
Will blueprints need to be wiped?
Will map seeds be the same?

Im also personally planning on buying a new server as my current one is purchased through xbox and is full of bugs that Gportal tell me is due to that, so when i purchase a new server will the discount still be available around the 19th?

I can't share an exact time just yet but when the New Gen is dropping you should be able to switch your server to New Gen.

So 5am est tomorrow morning is release time. That's what D11 is saying. I'm not just trying to wake up at 5am and not be able to upgrade my servers until 12 noon you know. Trying to get a better idea

I understand this. As with every game update, we'll update servers as close to the release as possible so the delay is as small as possible (if there is even a delay).

So again, the plan is that right after release of the New Gen update you can update your server / the new switch to change the Gen is available for your server.

Not sure what you mean by permissions excatly but I feel the "Owner, Admin, Mod, VIP Status" point on the "What will be wiped" section is covering this. Same goes with ID but this could be covered by "Server title" and "all other front-end settings in your GPORTAL Webinterface" on the "what will be kept" section. (sorry I'm not that deep into the technical aspects, so this is just my very basic understanding and asumption)
