I created a fresh server for valheim, tested vanilla first everything worked no issues with connection, second test I made a singleplayer test world with my selection of mods from Thunderstore using ONLY mods tagged with "ashlands update". it ran perfectly fine, I then transferred the r2modman bepin plugin folder to the server and then launched it and nothing seemed to make me able to connect to it. I did set it to bepinEX on the mod seciton too. So I remade the server wholly and then before launching and restarting I removed all client side only mods still doesnt work. Im new to server owndership so im wondering what the heck do i do to fix this?

I'm not fully versed for the options in this game, but the word "plugin" caught my attention. Are these all mods or are there also plugins?
Plugins aren't able to be used for most games.
BepinEx stores all mods in the plugins folder in the unique BepinEx folder which is the framework that runs mods on valheim

If after removing them all, you still can't get your server to work, you may need to contact GPortal support.
It does work without mods
ive already confirmed as much that its possible to play valheim ashlands without mods, but the server shouldnt have any issues running mods especially with my extremely light configuration of only QoL mods

Singleplayer is not the same thing. But, I would suggest adding the mods back on one at a time to see which is conflicting.

Another question real quick. The way in which you are adding mods, is this the suggested way by GPortal?
@sage river I see something. I guess there is a dropbox where you need to select BepinEx. Did you do this?

well It doesnt give any instrustions so I just added mods via filezilla FTP client to the bepinEx/Plugins/ folder

because the server installs a plugin and core folder when selecting the bepinEx

I guess the server is having an issue with one or more of the mods. At least that is a strong possibility.

Since it's working without mods, something is either not installing correctly or not compatible.
I'm curious. If you add just one and that works, at least you know it's not the process of installing them is not the issue.

what mods do you have installed?
its mostly QoL and a couple buildingpieces
all of these are markes as ashlands update except multiuserchest but that one works fine ona self hosted world

well I wish I had it saved but I'm sure itll error again and Ill have ample time to debug

they do
remove the mods using ftp, verify game files on the server make sure the server is turned off while removing files, load the server with just bepinex, make sure you can join it. if that works add 5 mods at a time until its stable. itll be alot of trail and error and having to turn the server on and off
Okay so I am able to tell when it worked as itll say in the serverlog [Info : Unity Log] 05/16/2024 01:15:44: Game server connected
so if it says that it means everything is successful
everytime its been missing ive ended up not being able to connect as long as i see the log say connected i can join
Alright so the culprits of the crash are either of these 2

You could probably get a hold of the developer or their discord to see if there is something going on with them.
Did this get fixed? I was wanting to use these mods too
