#Make Everyone Bi (Romance)
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I don't think all survivors should be bi, especially cuz you have survivors like Lester, Hudson and ||bowman|| who look like they'd yell slurs at the sight of a queer person-
You’d be surprised at queer people doing the same exact thing to queer people LOL
We can murder other survivors for the fun of it and that’s not lawful ykno
I can definitely see a mod being made to make all survivors bi, but I highly doubt it'd be a official option ingame
The number of queer survivors in game feels realistic, and it makes me appreciate them more
I’m on the other side of the spectrum, everyone being bi means you can just make them love whoever, it could be an option in the run-maker menu
Like I already deal with enough of majority of game casts only being cishet so it would just be refreshing
I mean... It's 1980
I know trans people have existed for ages
But it'd make sense to not have openly trans characters, considering how prejudice the decade was
With zombies,
Do the zombies get the pass.
I explode
Like I'd be more than happy to see a openly trans survivor, but I can also understand the lack of one
One of the bigger issues of the game is having each survivor feel distinct from one another + making them feel like actual people. Making everyone bi would just make survivors feel like play dolls more than human beings, option or not.
And yet I can make whoever I want be friends with each other, and they never have any instance where they’re just like “I can’t stand this person but for the sake of the group I’ll shut up”, and etc?
They’re already play dolls, like I’m making them drink coffee and sleep when they’re tired, yada yada
But there is?
People don’t get along with others
Yeah but they get over it
There is literally a curveball calling Aubrey annoying
I meant in the way of like they’ll just go back to normal anyway; especially if you modify your relationship difficulty
The morale and relationship systems will likely be improved to the point where certain people are more likely to not be friendly with one another/form too many relationships (cause we're in Early Access). Besides, there are already curveballs and descriptions for survivors that would tell us that certain people are unfriendly.
It could atleast be an option, there’s no harm in it. We have zombies and people reanimating from infectious bites and scratches but a choice to put anyone together optionally is too much?

Also making everyone bi would kinda be gay/lesbian erasure-
Franks canonically won't date women and Barb canonically won't date men
I’m a gay man myself and I personally would not really mind it. I respect your onion tho
You might not mind, but it means the world to me that Barb is canonically a lesbian, as I myself am a lesbian
I was meaning as a “romance difficulty” slider or smth (I lack the word for it) and you can set it as “Static” or “Dynamic”. I genuinely just view it as harmless.
If you really want to reinforce how different each of the survivors are from each other then I don't think it would be a good idea either way, option or not.
That’s why it would be an option
That must be chosen as a modifier before you start your run
Regardless, I think it's highly unlikely a change like this would happen in the main game.
Maybe in a mod of ODD.
Thank you
Bowman and Barb would be a crazy power couple though ngl LOL
They're both badasses.
Not saying Barb being lesbian is a bad thing, I think it's hype, just saying they'd probably take over the world xD
I think fan service like this is rather reductive especially to LGBTQ+ representation as it devolves it to fanfic writing
You guys probably already gave opinions and all
but that's my opinion
Understandable. And yeah, if they add modding support I'd be surprised if something like this doesn't get added. But it's being canon? Eh, I think it doesn't fit very well. It's not a bad thing, love who ya love, but yeah I agree it takes away from gay and lesbian characters if everyone loves everyone
If the game wants to go into it then it would be cool but only if its treated on its fundamentals and not dolls kissing
If you want smth like that just mod it. Not everyone has to be bi in the game.
I have nothing against it, I mean I’m fine with character like Barb and Frank being gay, but to a realistic standpoint it doesn’t make sense for everyone to be bi.
I think the fascination with shipping culture is because ODD is still underdeveloped at this point
So people don't have much to work with and are building their own
But realistically virtually every survivor has some sort of trauma
Yeah. That's one thing about romance in early apocalypse games, everyone has lost someone close to them, romance would definitely be last on a long list of worries I'd have in the apocalypse
Especially people like Michelle
And Hector, technically
yeah
Who is surprisingly bi.
His wife didn't die to the outbreak but should still be grieving
Honestly, good for him
so I can put my dolls together and make them friends or romance them with whoever (bar the 4 gay people, 2 wlw and 2 mlm) but the majority being heterosexual (yet again) isn't reductive?
idk
I should explain that it's shrimply a personal gripe with majority of games doing that, there's no harm in it!
I mean nothing is being said with that statement of romance beyond "awh shucks they smooch"
Its doing the opposite
If there is no depth in a relationship and it is just a variable like hunger is it exists only to validate what fans want the game to look like
i steal your wallet
There's actually 6 queer survivors-
There might be more
Uhm can I hae it back
But people haven't tested it out yet
im just being terribly greedy by wanting something so apparently unrealistic in a zombie game

I think its more-so how it provides value to the game
is there value in limitations for an optional and non-required thing, naur
i explode like pipe bomb
Its kinda silly though
thank you
I know but like it was said earlier that should be smth that is modded
Just a reminder:
**No real world politics or religion. **Conversations regarding the lore of Into the Dead politics or religion are permitted inside their respective game channel spaces, but keep conversations productive and respectful. Otherwise please steer away from real world politics.
What are you talking about
Ogey
Since the topic is getting a bit sensitive
Me too
Just reminding
ok
Please don’t argue with the mods
Fair
um..
That was just clarifying
ok
Gay representation in media is good but having it as a radiant aspect that can be traded like a deck of cards cheapens the emotional value of it. Especially since this is the 1980s this is the era of awareness
Smth like Larry actually being Frank's boyfriend would be substantive
Idk from looking at other threads, none of them are getting the same level of attention as an idea regarding removing the limitations for something ultimately harmless (to which i'm not surprised it's regarding romance that you have to push using a resource in the game to even pursue). But everyone is entitled to their opinion!
It was fun to entertain is all.
Kinda implying something with that but I don't want to be smited so I'll leave it here
Nuh uh, it's not personal I assure you
It's an overarching thing in most video game communities
I feel like this discussion need to be LOCKED and never seen again
