Tbh, I think the game doesn't really need a MP mode. Not like it's gonna be developed during EA. Also, since PikPok isn't exactly a big company, it would probably be difficult for them to manage.

Yeah. This might prove to be difficult. Since having servers managing multiplayer isn't free nor is it cheap. Usually it's expensive. That's just more work for the developers use their time on instead of working on fixing the game for bugs and glitches and fully finishing the game first before anything else.

I don't see how this idea works or really fits in. I already read it and I don't agree with the idea tbh as well.

For the above reason, but i also don't think this game would be the same game it is if it was multiplayer. It would have to change a good amount, and become something else entirely

I don't see it ever working it out in a 2D Game Scroller view. Similar to TWOM but I don't see Multiplayer working out. I can list the problems and concerns with the OP's suggestion/information file.

Especially the goddamn events he included in there....wtf is this? No offense but this sounds like a marketing strategy that has red flags over it.

It does sound interesting and reminds me of state of decay 2 for Multiplayer based on what he said for some parts. Please no, don't ruin this game with Multiplayer or use more of the devs time when they need to polish and finish the game up based on the roadmap given.

So here are my concerns and what problems it has:

  1. This is suppose to be a stealth survival game with narrative driven story involved that's purely for single player only.
  • adding this Multiplayer/co-op feature would be as if you're almost creating a new whole game.

  • The features such as random encounters and base raids would have the devs rewriting core/basic game systems as well. This includes behavior for zombies/hostile survivors, inventory management, the map itself to handle multiplayer/locations, these event triggers that happen at a specific time as he stated in the file, and etc.

#
  1. The base defense and raid mechanics would need an entire rework on physics, the server/co-op management, and even the dynamic environments in this game. I do not think this would work well for the game or the engine for even trying to set this up.
#
  • Unless the developers have a lot of members in the team or aren't a small developing game company than I don't think this will work and don't forget this is not cheap to do.
#
  1. The game itself is a story based (not much atm) game that has some atmosphere to the tone in this case. Random players could ruin this type of immersion or gameplay for the host/other players really. Could you imagine you're just playing the game and looting a random player joins and gets you purposely killed or loots everything, or even trolls you?
  • look even if it becomes fair, most of the time in a Multiplayer game you might get some players who are toxic, aggressive or just too chaotic in this survival stealth genre game. Regardless of offline features or no raids.

  • This feels ridiculous as it needs strict Multiplayer settings or servers being monitored cause of the problems it may have.

#
  1. PikPok is a small developing studio/company. They're not big as other companies/studios. They're also not a AAA team or whatever.
  • They would have to include servers, anti-cheat, way more content updates, and live services which is like a full time job requiring their time in this process. Especially if they need to hire more people. I don't think they would want to invest/spend more money on that.

  • Server maintenance itself is costly, especially private servers.

  • They would need way more funding for this to work like from either outside support or other game publishers. This won't work regardless.

#
  1. Raiding is another issue especially if someone encourages the devs to do things like pay to win or cosmetics or something (please dont).
  • We're also talking about traps, defenses, and upgrades. I'd rather not do this at all. Why would you want players to Raid each other?

  • Now trying to keep the game balance and fair for others might be difficult. Since you always have 2 sides to eveything. Either it's too hard or too easy from one person's opinion.

  • This feels like players might not want to trust other random players at all.

#
  1. Multiplayer as always will split up the community. Where one side might be focused on than the other.
  • Like what gets updated or mostly focused on in a video game. Either single player doesn't feel the same as it gets less content while the Multiplayer gets more attention for example.

  • Multiplayer would need constant updates, maintenances, and balancing it out.

  • I do not think the devs can keep track/work on both game modes since it's small.

  • This will affect the current players and new players who get the game for what gets the most attention or demand....
