There is currently almost no risk when falling from extreme heights. I tested this by falling from 1000 blocks straight into the water and nothing happened to my character at all. Falling from such a massive height should be incredibly dangerous or at least severely impact the player, even if you land in water.

I agree with Kitty, even if it's unrealistic, imo, every player expect to be safe from falling damage when jumping straight into water, no matter the height. That's a basic core gameplay everyone knows since 30 years

It’s not just about realism, it’s about stakes. If water is a 'get out of jail free' card from any height, the sense of danger while exploring high places is completely gone. There’s no tension if you know water makes you invincible. Honestly the game right now is just to easy to play...
