Problem with multiplayer

I have the same problem in Ark. I don't know if it's an engine issue, but my friend can't move too far away from me and gets teleported to me, but he didn't move very far there to write about this. _. And I think it's cringe because in Ark, when playing with friends, there's the same problem, and it's a shame that this game also has it

It’s because the server is running on the host pc not on an actual online server. What he generates and you generate can put a huge toll on the hosts PC. That’s why originally they didn’t even have a client max distance option, it was add in the first game update.

Ark has very limited capabilities, and only in Steam's properties can you remove many of the restrictions. It's as if everyone has a computer with hardware from 2004. The funniest thing is that you can't fix it so that the user is on the other side of the map from you; he will still teleport even if you remove the restrictions.

Like I said they implement those mechanics to stop possible bog and lag in game, chunks of the maps are only generated at a time, the whole map is never fully loaded at the same time. Chunks are not loaded until you or someone else goes into that area to get it to load and generate, so imagine having 2 separate areas generate, that can cause terrible lag for the host pc, hence why they have a tether. If you don’t want those problems for ark youll have to get a dedicated server you’d have to pay for, And yes Ark is buggy as hell, I have a high end PC and it can still have issues lol

I understood about this, but the default range from the user is simply too small. My friend literally fell down onto the island, we were 300 blocks apart from each other +- and he was already teleported, which is not that much. _.

They probably made it that small because they didn’t intend on people going that far from each other, the islands themselves ain’t that big, and you only have 1 airship so it’s not like y’all are exploring different islands at a time. People did remark about it and they added an option to make it an option to expand the distance so it looks like they are listening to the community. ^_^.

I’m waiting on the next update, my save is messed up, my wife can’t join me at all and one of the devs said I had to wait till a hot fix update ☠️
