For some reason, despite not using my API key, chatting with the bot still deducts my credits. Am I doing something wrong?

If credits are being deducted even when you’re not using your personal API key, it's likely that you’ve previously set up your API key on a website or application. Many browsers, bots, and third-party sites (like JanitorAI, ChubAI, VenusChatAI, etc.) will continue to send requests using your saved key in the background—even if you’re not directly “chatting” using it now.

Here’s how this can happen:

  • If you signed in or pasted your key into a site, it might auto-connect and send requests whenever the page reloads or you open a chat.
  • Some sites save your API key to your browser storage and use it until you manually remove or change it.

What should you do?

  1. Log out or delete your API key from all sites you’ve used it on.
  2. Clear your browser cache/cookies related to those sites or reset API settings on the websites.
  3. Consider changing your API key by generating a new one (run the /key command in #🤖𝐁𝐨𝐭).
  4. Visit the /info command in the bot channel to track your credit usage.

Good to know:

  • Credits are only deducted when your API key is used to make requests.
  • If unsure which site is using your key, change your key immediately and only use it on trusted sites.
  • Never share your API key—treat it like a password.

If you need to investigate further, use the /info command or create a support ticket for help.
