It's OK if you miss session 0. The next session could be half a session 0/half session 1. So what we could do is have a session on Saturday 29th, then have a session on Saturday the 5th but an hour or 2 later. I finish half an hour after the time we would start, so I'd like to give myself time to relax and get prepared once I get home.

Or we generally have 2 session 0's to allow any newcomers to introduce themselves the next time. We might even be able to get into some combat near the end of the sessions anyway.

I only ask because their old job was very merc heavy, meaning they've done jobs for their old boss before leaving, meaning they'd have items left over from it

You can use the money you get with starting equipment to buy extra items if you want to, otherwise just keep the money you have in case you want to buy stuff in-game

So I was wondering is there bounty’s / commissions that gas different difficulties with different prizes (like 1 gold, 1 silver / 5 silvers)?

The bounties/commissions will be level based at first to get you used to it, after that if you did want a difficulty change (harder or easier) I can accommodate for that, as long as everyone else is on the same page. The rewards will be based on the difficulty of the jobs you complete, and how you completed them (killing them doesn't necessarily mean a higher reward). Usually it'll be a monetary reward, but it could change depending on the circumstances of the job.

Idk, I read plus 2 to charisma, but that depends on if Rainy wants use to add ability scores from race

60 feet of dark vision, Resistance to Necrotic and Celestial based attacks, the Light Cantrip, and Healing hands

Those are Race specific abilities

For lvl 1 paladin, you start out with the divine sense, which is the tell see if the creature is a Celestial, Undead, or Fiend ability

Along with Lay on Hands, which is your ability to heal someone based on your paladin level times 5 (so, rn, you would have 6 points to use on someone. You can say "2 points" and have 4 left over. You don't need to use them all.)

Alternatively, for that ability, you can spend 5 of those healing points to cure a single disease or poison from someone

I understand your concern about people cheating with their rolls, but that isn't an obvious concern of their's.

I've also GMed on the past, so I can say that there is a level of trust we have towards our players to not cheat.

If someone wishes to cheat then they're likely not the type we would play with. If we were to find out that someone is consistently cheating then they'll likely be kicked out of the game.

Usually, someone who cheats at D&D isn't the type to play it for very long.

I mean, even in a real game you very rarely see anyone else's rolls. In fact, the GM's rolls are 99% hidden from all players intentionally, so there's nothing to say that there's much difference between in person and online rolling.

but as you can tell, individually the Top most layer is the world itself

so that would be a category named the same name as said world

Followed by the first town Category, if an Area only has 1 Room it's single channel, if a Building has more than one room it becomes it's own category underneath the town's category

with individual Room channels

below that you have the roads between area's Mostly Landmarks nearby the settlements, think Forests, Trails, the works

speaking of trains or modes of transportation.. in order for them to work, you would need to setup a bot to move said train category and channels to individual Town Categories

That sounds really fun! I'm planning to introduce a newsletter system by the end of Saturday's session to make the world feel a little more lively, so this would be great to do as well. It would allow those who aren't available for sessions/aren't confident to speak to get involved in their own way, and also gives opportunities for characters to form friendships outside of the game 😄

biggest question.. what's the age rating?

i used to have a world called Eos.. it was like... weirdly a mix of warring states period Japan, Mixed with Demi races, Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, the works.. and it had a Hell of a Lot of Backstory too

and there were even Modern Amenities based around mixing Magic with materials

that was before it branched out ot the Multiverse Arc, and we kinda moved to a place called Yggdrasil...

So the age rating is going to be a bit ambiguous, because obviously we can't ask every single person to prove their age but we also have to make it user-friendly. I would say let's stick to SFW things and if it comes up that people want 18+ things we can consider it. However, if we did integrate an 18+ thing then there are going to be a lot of things I'm not going to allow that fall under the 18+ bracket.

This is really cool, but I think let's start simple and add things as we move forward, because I don't want to put too much effort into something that might not get much engagement. We also don't want to put in too many things now and expect people to want more when we already have a lot.

Quick recap of yesterday's session for those who were unable to attend the session yesterday, or had to leave halfway through:

After successfully surviving their guild trials, the party was sent to investigate disturbances in Farrow’s Hollow—specifically, a "magical poultry performance" gone wrong.

Upon arrival, they encountered Kreebix the Glorious, a glitter-drenched kobold illusionist, and his massive, slightly confused chicken companion, Titancluck.

Before things could fully escalate, Nafees briefly intervened, putting a sword to Kreebix’s neck to distract him, then disappearing into the crowd as mysteriously as they appeared.

The rest of the party then got creative:

Freilik launched an apple onto the stage, distracting Titancluck with the oldest trick in the book—snack diplomacy.

Tapioca telepathically reached out to Titancluck, politely attempting conversation—only to find the giant chicken had a very limited attention span. (“Giant chicken, where?!”)

Clockwork impressed Kreebix with a stunning magical trick, disappearing into their own hat mid-performance and leaving the kobold starstruck.

Devan, less impressed, fireballed Kreebix into unconsciousness during the chaotic "show," before Clockwork revived him with a healing potion—only to knock him out again when Kreebix became a little too excited about forming a "magic troupe trio."

Following Kreebix’s defeat, Titancluck reverted to normal chicken size, and Tapioca successfully tamed her, adopting her under the new name Minicluck.

The party returned triumphantly to the Scalesworn Guildhall, where Vessk delivered a gloriously deadpan reward speech. Players received payment, magical items—including the Cloak of Feathery Disguise—and hearty congratulations.

They also forced Vessk to reluctantly read Kreebix’s glitter-covered play aloud in front of the guild (in the flattest monotone possible).

What happened last session:

Part I – The Calm Before the Tea-Storm

• The party was introduced to a bizarre array of Zehzi’s discounted magical gear, including the Bag of Holding (Sort Of) and the ever-judgy Hat of Holding Opinions.

• One party member rolled a natural 20 on their bartering check and secured the Bag of Holding (Sort Of) for free.

• Items were tested (and mildly feared), and the Hat quietly disappeared along with a stealthy party member—Zehzi didn’t object. The hat had “said things.”

Part II – Intimidation by Footwear and Stick

• Upon realizing that Dramatic Stick #3 combined with the Boots of Slight Exaggeration created a theatrical aura that could shake the heavens (or at least Zehzi), Devan encouraged Freilik to wear them all at once.

• Freilik then rolled a natural 20 on Intimidation, and—on Devan’s urging—gave a threatening speech. The climax:

    “Give us everything… or you’ll never have tea again.”
  

• Zehzi screamed, ran, and clutched the teapot like it was her firstborn. The party walked away with all eight prototype items.

• Devan returned later to apologize. In return, Zehzi offered him the teapot—the teapot. The party has not yet realized the full implications of this.

Session 4 Summary

*Ah, nothing warms the heart like the sound of swords clashing in the main hall, awkward flirting, and someone yelling "dog pile!" from atop a fully armored dragonborn.

This week’s gathering began with the reunion of our fine party (and their newest recruit, Twopioca, goblin and chaos goblet). Upon arrival, Twopioca locked eyes on our beloved Brumra and tried his luck in a duel—and in courtship. He fared better with blades than banter. Ma, ever the enabler, encouraged the match while Twopioca earned himself a few nicks and a smoldering line from Brumra:
“You do better with swords than you do words.”
Oof. Right in the dice bag.

Meanwhile, Clockwork returned after time away, bearing adorable grass dolls of Ma and Brumra. Ma was delighted. Brumra stared at hers for an uncomfortably long time, trying to decode its meaning. Art is subjective.

Then came Vessk’s Big Speech—the “you stole from Zehzi and I’m very disappointed but also secretly proud” kind. Frielik hung his head, Clockwork hugged his leg, Ma called a dog pile, and somehow it all ended with laughter and sore ribs. Typical Tuesday.

Later, the group visited Zehzi’s workshop to attempt repairs on Clockwork’s malfunctioning voicebox. Frielik failed, Zehzi failed louder, and Tapioca succeeded quietly with a Mending spell. Clockwork now speaks in complete sentences.
Clockwork and Frielik spent the rest of the session bonding, proving that malfunctioning parts can fix friendships.

Back at the guild, Twopioca struck up conversation with Vorn the cook, convinced him to try rat meat in cabbage stew (gods help us), and began a side quest to acquire said rat meat. He soon stumbled across a strange locked door in a broom closet, and with the help of Tapioca and Devan, managed to open it.

Whatever lies beyond the door… well, that’s a mystery for next time.

The only limit is your imagination (as long as they don't break the rules)

The game can also get one-sided and unfair, depending on how it goes

Rules can change on a whim, you could make it absolute paradise or one player could make it an absolute hellhole for everyone else depending how clever they are (or bribe the DM)

Luck may be on your side, or the wheel of fortune could have a vendetta against you and jails you 20 times in a row. All up in the air depending on the (rather loose) rules and game-setting

You could build up lore from the previous games if you want a connection or decide that making a board into a monopoly game is the better strategy to beat your opponents

In terms of how the game feels for everyone, I think we should enforce a rule that people can influence things to happen in-game, but if someone finds it uncomfortable or it becomes targeted to a certain subject, then we'll have to calm it down.

the priority is to make sure that you win and in the funniest way possible (not necessarily a rule but more so a guideline)
if it's something that's specifically targeted or a certain subject that is just uncomfortable to deal with, it can and will be shot down.

the best way is to not take it seriously at all and the majority of the happenings is really just what the wheel chooses.

But also, please don't complain if the game does start getting unfair for one reason or another. If you feel like you're not enjoying it as much as you thought it would, then you're free to leave whenever you want.

ok so I thought about how participation would work
and I decided that, unless the board game says otherwise, a maximum of 3 players can participate and the others get to watch.

However, those who don't actively participate can put in suggestions and decisions on what could happen (depending on the game itself) and if a player has to go for some reason, another participant can take their place (either temporary or permanently)

if enough players do want to participate, we could do tag teams (2 or more players control 1 figure), but we can discuss that at the meeting time

By the way, would you all like to continue with the scalesworn story or try something a bit different? I would like to try something a little different but I want all of your opinions first. If we went for something different, we could try a new setting, story, new characters (though feel free to keep your existing ones if you want), new theme (like scifi instead of fantasy if you want to be daring).
Let me know if you'd like to explore something new.

Just want to update you all a little, but don't want the whole server to know:
We had a family bereavement on Monday and I'm not doing OK.
It doesn't mean that the game isn't coming back, it'll just mean that the time between now and then will be longer than anticipated. At this moment in time I can't give an estimate of when that will be, but I will let you know when I'm doing better.
