You already share IP to billion of nodes in Internet by everyday use. IP is information that every node and server gets at every packet to know where to send response back to. Just by visiting one website, hundreds nodes and devices gets your IP address (can read from packet header).

#

But fine, if it's rule to not share IP here, I will respect it.

#

Even though I think it's nonsense rule.

Even before I knew internet safety, I understood that making your IP known to everyone, publically was not a good idea

# gleaming fern Yet, you gave your IP to at least 100 nodes by just sending this message to Disc...

We all know what an IP address is. Sharing IP addresses is not allowed on our server. While IP addresses can be used to find a user's location, a website you visit doesn't need to abuse your IP or dox you. However, sharing your IP publicly in a server with 100k members is not good. Everyone can find your country or city, and they could even DDoS your IP, disconnecting you from the internet for hours or even days. This is just a simple example—many other bad things can be done with your IP address. So, sharing IP addresses is not allowed here.

That's problem of ISP, their firewall, your router configuration and so on... uh and most IP addresses are behind NAT. Not really reachable from Internet.

But as I said, fine... rules are rules. I will respect it. Just explaining.

Btw. about Discord bot configuration, I know it automatically removes messages containing IP adress, but the problem is it also blocks localhost IP and local network IPs, like 192.168.x.x, maybe you could change and allow at least these IPs in bot filtering.

I'm okay with blocking others IPs, it's your server, your rules.

#

But I really think you should think about how it limits users sometimes.
