i believe the new ee removes a lot of old creativity you used to have with it. used to be able to push it around a defender etc. the new ee is too fast and people have just been constantly losing the ball.

im not here to shit on any developer or the people working on the game, this is just my personal opinion.

tldr: new ee bad old ee better maybe bring old ee back

I actually believe the opposite. Yes there are some growing pains because it works slightly differently, but the responsiveness is fantastic. When I'm playing recovery, ready to fight for a loose ball on a tackle, I can snap so quickly towards the ball's direction now. Also being able to EE any direction from any dribble is great, adds loads of potential for creating space around a defender.

It’s objectively worse during a dribble

It’s a lot harder to possess the ball during a dribble in this new iteration of EE IMO

placid herald
#

don't entirely understand what you mean by it's harder to possess

#

sorry

#

as in it pushes the ball too far?

cerulean coral
#

First touch most of the time has a new initial knock back

#

Yeah

#

Before you could still maintain possession because the knock back was always fixed and predictable

#

Say what you will about the locomotion, but it made it easier to work with. Now that it’s gone, it feels like the character model goes all over the place.

I’m sure some of this you can just chalk up to growing pains or whatever, but I’m not even sure why it was changed. I don’t think anyone had a problem with it, it was pretty balanced IMO

placid herald
#

I think it was partly changed to be more responsive, which imo it definitely is.

cerulean coral
#

So I can only hypothesize that this change directly buffs defenders and nerfs attacking tbh

placid herald
#

you know changes can be made without the intention of nerfing or buffing anything

cerulean coral
#

Indirectly*

#

Every change has a side effect

placid herald
#

I think it's too early to say it's a clear nerf or buff. Since everyone has access to the same EE, it's about how players use the new version to their advantage.
I find the instant speed you get now no matter what animation you are doing lets me retain posession in situations I wouldn't previously

cerulean coral
#

Fair enough, these are just my subjective takes from my long play session today

placid herald
#

Like I can sprint push, then EE immediately, and either grab the ball and dribble more, or golden boost to change direction

cerulean coral
#

Yeah I’m sure it’s just a change of playstyle. For tight dribbling it’s pretty bad, but using it with the new push ball buffs is probably the move

pallid scroll
#

You legit just lose the ball half the time

#

Its shit

#

You used to be able to get around by slowly changing your body position during ee so you could avoid tackles and change how the bull pushes out

#

Its terrible

#

woohoo more prio ball yep

cerulean coral
#

They just need to remove the new initial knock back, it’s just bad

pallid scroll
#

What was wrong about old ee

cerulean coral
#

I don’t even think you get a diamond off it either so it’s just like.. it’s more for speed than a mix up now

pallid scroll
#

Its harder to get past someone then ever

#

It wouldnt be if old ee was a thing

placid herald
pallid scroll
#

I never really had an issue seems like those people didnt put any time into it

#

this patch is just terrible outright

#

i dont think ive met anyone who likes it

vagrant torrent
#

There are a lot of parts I do like

pallid scroll
#

Its easier to tackle someone then its ever been

vagrant torrent
#

But as usually goes with these patches there are some good things and then some outright awful ones

pallid scroll
#

We went backwards

vagrant torrent
#

New EE is kind of nice for fake runs

#

Direction change is a lot more crisp not as much inertia or having to run weird circles

#

Worse for dribbling doe

pallid scroll
#

yeah and the last thing we should be encouraging is more run left/ run right crosses

#

the game doesnt need it its already stale at a high level

#

all this patch does is encourage that style of play

#

for 5 patches now people have said the same thing

#

if you want to phase this style of play out buff the other options

#

but no

#

we have to nuke everything to the ground

cerulean coral
#

Set play meta will prob still be the strongest way to play this whole season, calling it now

#

So boring

vagrant torrent
#

I agree although I do think ground play was buffed

#

But thats just from playing ranked I can't really form a real opinion on it before PRT today against competent defenders

#

But felt easier to do ground pass play in/around box and dribbling because of lowered defensive hitboxes

#

You will also be more succesful baiting tackles now with no auto assist

#

Or well, reduced auto assist

#

But def think classic setplay will still come out strongest

#

Its just too consistent

placid herald
cerulean coral
#

Player possession hitbox feels smaller But I do agree that ground passes are better because of that

#

As for tackling assist change, I really don’t notice it that much

#

Definitely feels like GK is harder now tho

#

(I’m just writing stream of consciousness thoughts about this patch so far)

vagrant torrent
#

GK for sure harder, I definitely notice the change in tackle from both ends, and yeah dribbling in box is worse as is because you have less options

#

I think quick dribble is stronger in box, extended is worse because of bad options

#

Like no more than 1 or 2 swipes max

cerulean coral
#

Comparing the hitbox data in between patches, the tackle distance looks practically the same but the player model itself moves forward a bit now though

cerulean coral
#

But yeah Extended dribbling in the box is worse for sure I agree

vagrant torrent
#

They made dashes faster
