#Add Deadzone Options

A deadzone would not solve this problem, because this happens when the jump button is pressed before the analog input. So its just down to your muscle memory and making sure you dont panic press the jump button
What they could theoretically do is add a small delay in cases where no analog input was detected during a jump save from the keeper
Don’t ask me why I know this….
But a dead zone would definitely fix the neutral dive
Your analog needs to reach about 50% left or right to register a dive. For example it is possible to be GK, be walking left slowly and press the dive and your player will jump straight up, even tho he is walking left
The reason why i think a deadzone would not fix this issue is because i litterally have a controller with mrt sticks and set to 0 deadzone. I can still neutral dive in the heat of the moment, and when i test it i can reproduce it very easily by pressing the jump button a fraction earlier than any movement input
Why this could happen is beacuse any input is checked in a loop so maybe for a frame the analog registered 0 because it had a delta (change of zero) or a rounding error just before the dive
I promise I know what I’m talking about bro 😭🙏
I get what your saying
Yes. If you press jump first you will always dive upwards. However with the way the dive deadzone is you can be moving left noticeably and still dive upwards
But i think any kind of deadzone at the software level would be useless anyway if your controller is shite to begin with
I mean every controller at the end of the day has a joystick and a deadzone. Could be a 30 dollar Xbox one controller or a 200$ controller in game dead zone works the same on all of them
Some might not have their own apps for further customization
But it doesn’t really matter if there’s an in game deadzone
They probably have this 50% in game deadzone to register a dive to safeguard shite controllers with a lot of noise to dive in unwanted direction, but doing so creating this issue with a neutral dive
But as I said i think most of the neutral dive are due to people clicking the jump button slightly before the analog is registered
Skill issue, git gud
If only he knew
He knew but not anymore
Turtle dive
Bro reacted to his OWN message
vouch, even for outfield players this would make the game feel way more responsive
Vouch
Feels like the deadzones/delay is lower on the gamepass app than steam, even with steam controller deadzones turned off. Maybe because it’s using native controller APIs or something?
Or I could be headcasing
nah i believe it
Thing is that 3rd party dead zone adjustment doesn’t change shit
Also idk if it’s been mentioned, but to trigger a directional dive as keeper requires a bigger directional input then as a fielder. In the field, if your character is moving at all, even as slowly as possible, when u press the dive button u will dive that way, whereas in net, you can be moving in a direction and still get a neutral dive if your stick isn’t far enough in that direction. Sure, I can see the argument where this would make it more playable for sticks with drift or to not have accidental dives that go the wrong way/out of the way when u want a neutral dive. At the end of the day though, given dead zone options, players with stick drift can raise the deadzone to fit their needs and I can lower my deadzone to fit my needs. Why should the game set an important setting to a one size fits all value and not give functionality to the players

real shit
the solution is something similar to rocket league. they have a setting for normal deadzones and another for dodge deadzone. the second setting changes how far the stick needs to move before doing a jump input turns it from a neutral jump into a directional flip. most players have their dodge deadzone pretty high so they can do mechanics like fast aerials without accidentally backflipping so it really shouldnt be hard to implement for this game
I gotchu with the fresh clip @halcyon briar
so explain this
"Jump button pressed before analog input"
