#Constantly freezing and disconnecting from matches

I played some 1v1s earlier in the day just fine, but this evening I did some ranked 5s and my game froze. First time I killed the process so I could try to hop back in as quickly as possible, but then it happened again shortly after and I got a short leaver penalty. I took that time to update my graphics drivers (geforce game ready 591.44->591.86) and verify game files (no problems). I also lowered settings from ultra to medium. I jumped into 1v1 again to not disrupt full teams in ranked, but it's still crashing after a few minutes of play.

Everything on screen freezes, and then if I wait a minute or so I end up back in the lobby. It also froze a few times in the menu while I was messing with settings.

I was watching my task manager and core temp readings during some of the crashes, and didn't see any abonormally high usage.

Log attached.

Thanks for the report and for attaching the runtime log.

From your log, the game is not crashing; it’s getting disconnected due to a ConnectionTimeout after a long stall on the client (the log shows DriverTime: 111.70s, which indicates the client stopped ticking/responding long enough to time out).
If you have crash logs, I would like to get those as well.

What you can do to reduce the stall:

  • Disable Frame Generation / Frame Interpolation and upscalers temporarily
  • Disable overlays/hook tools (Overwolf, Discord, GeForce overlay, etc.)
    • I have seen Overwolf causing problems for many games.
  • Clear GPU shader caches (NVIDIA shader cache + game cache) and reboot.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Ooh that's good to know. I'll try those things and get back to you

I have disabled steam, discord, and nvidia overlays (i dont have overwolf).

I disabled the in-game upscaler, and confirmed that i don't have any frame gen enabled in my nvidia settings.

I have also cleared my shader cache, and confirmed that i have plenty of room on both the drive that holds the cache and the drive that holds the game installation.

It seemed to be doing slightly better only after clearing the shader cache (i tested between steps), but then the problem returned and I'm having the issue again. The first I was able to rejoin and finish. I tried again and i didn't fully get disconnected but after the screen unfroze the animations got all weird; players were floating around, floating into the sky and skinking into the ground.

I don't see any crash logs, but that makes sense if it's not crashing as you said. If there would be crash logs in a different location let me know.

I also checked my logs again from my testing today and i see the same GameNetDriver connection timeout with drivertime 140

#

I see it mention networknext on that line of the log. Could that be the issue? I'll try disabling it.

#

Nope, no change with network next disabled.

Hello, thank you for the report and trying things out !
Would it be possible to get a video of the issue so we may have a better understanding of what's happening ?
I'm currently not sure if you are being disconnected because of the freeze, or if it's the other way around.

Appreciate the follow up. I'll get some video of it. I'll be away from home for the weekend though, so it'll be next week.

Here is a clip of the issue https://youtu.be/0vNRr4zzyDU
I'm not sure how helpful it'll be, but the game was running smoothly and normally up until around where the clips starts. At around 5 seconds, it freezes and you can hear the music for a bit. Then it cuts out and you just hear my character breathing. This lasts until around 37 seconds when it cuts to the loading screen. I finally make it back to the menu at 1:27. I immediately try to reconnect, but then the game is over from mercy rule a few seconds after I get back in.
