there’s a really big problem with volley prio which is causing people this boring missile meta. Currently performing a volley will sometimes steal priority from anything that isnt goalie hands, Even if the defender perfectly tracks the ball and even gets his animation off first there is too many instances of a volley cutting off and stealing priority from the defender you can literally see the person doing the volley glide across your screen unnaturally and take the priority from you. Its one of the biggest complaints at the highest level and needs to be addressed

Devs look like they are not going to do nothing about, we didnt heard a word from them about this prio stuff, it is boring.. people only bang the ball forward and the fact that the keeper get to keep more time the ball than the attackers is outrageous..
Sorry im not understanding the problem...I'm an elite 2k points, from my experience its all good, do u use extra effort? Cause is all based on the extra priority it gives. The classic priorities are (keeper > head touch > kick shot) but using extra effort u got 2 buff (1- lock on the ball so the player will slide following the ball , 2- it adds a +1 priority) so with this in mind, both players MUST use effort and from now on it all becomes a "who better position himself and trigger correctly the effort".
i play as a keeper ina full stack team, never saw or heard my mates complaining about this, and they win 80% of 50/50s in the air
Ps: effort + pass (doing it to shoot on net) cause of the +1 priority beat goalkeeper dive priority, literally free goals till expert ranks 👍🏻
You might not experience the meta on ranked queues, as sbmm doesn't work the same way as in other games. But you can watch a community hosted tournament, even the best teams in NA are abusing missiles every game.
im so curious to see what are u talking about, im watching on twitch "esport rematch" hope is the right channel....could u describe exactly what is the mechanic being abused?
Defenders/Goalies sending a longball to the strikers even when they're being marked, and the strikers manage to perform a volley despite the interference of opposing defender
It can happen with crosses too, not specifically longballs
oooh i see, i receive that a lot....again may be luck, maybe they are not as good , i dont know...in my game i found many cant defend that, by imo inst that difficult, tricky but not difficult, as a keeper , if the attacker is at least "in my area" i sprint in his face , wait his kick animation and just press neutral dive (the keeper will automatically jump left or right to automatically catch ball
while if hge is just outside my area i just go all the way back to my net and try to predict....so far , in my expericne (i repoet this might be just pure luck for me) seems to work fine
Yes keepers can intercept the passes if they are in range
But for defenders losing one aerial duel means a shot is going to go through
imo is a great mechanics, cause is counterable, so as long as a team can manage to counter it , can stay in the game for me
infact lately i started to play more dinamically , i often stay out of net, watching radar to know where to insta extra effort running to go in the face of atkers and neutral jump....after i do so few times the game becomes a mind game, where atkers know i can blokc it and try to fake it, so i try too to not insta neutral jump
in my experince is so fun playing like this,m compered to the classic "static in the net keeper"
With neutral dive you mean just press the dive button without direction? What do you do when there are 2 attackers fairly close to each other? It is a risk to block one of them if the other can also get the same ball.
How do you block when they try to do headers instead? They often teleport a few meters with EE to get to the ball.
Ye what Kosan said sounds right.. If you just ee out to facecheck attacker 1, attacker 2 can just use EE shot and teleport to the ball - u are now fucked xD
I've not changed my mind on this prio situation. It's garbage currently
maybe if netcode and servers were atleast half-decent it would be more acceptable
but as it is, the system just feels terrible 🤷
Crosses into the box into an instantly charged shot just need to be stamped out imo. It's a boring meta that is quite obviously in favour of the attacker. Yes it's defendable, but it's way harder to defend than it is to execute.
cross volleys need to be outside the box plays. Not because you CANT do them inside the box, but because if you are being marked closely it just shouldnt be a viable option.
and so you need to be fully unmarked imo for this shot to be acceptable.
**SOLUTION: if you are marking the attacker inside the box and are being physical with him **(Defensive stance grabbing) you and the attacker should have massively reduced priority on any crosses. (EE can be used to breakfree / counter. (attacker can EE to free himself and gain prio on the cross when timed right, Defender can EE to counter attackers EE, defender can buffer the EE so the only time attacker should be able to regain prio is when the defender has already messed up and does not have EE up)
It's the correct solution imo 🤷
Do an extra effort header yourself, though imo this animation should be a punch and have extra height to reach above any headers. Still seem to get priority more often than not as the keeper.
I don't think defender or attacker should matter for priority, it should be all on positioning and timing, and headers having priority over volleys
This would be awesome. It feels so stupid for a gk that can use his hands to have less reach than a header
Put less magnet on the gk, but at least let him get rewarded when he reads the game right
Also, I was legit asking Guglie how to deal with that to learn btw
I think encouraging keeper punches would improve the balance of the game too, currently if the GK catches it then it kills any attack dead and they can boot it up to the other end instantly. Still let the GK catch if they get their dive perfect but have punching more magnetised and lower risk
ye but it just doesnt work out man. Headers do have priority over volleys but the game is just broken lmao
thats why I'd prefer a system where we can actually mark lazy attackers atleast by grabbing them
Often I'll try to head away backboard crosses, the animation will start, I'm closer to the ball yet the attacker does some flying volley 2m in the air. I don't understand it at the moment
the system just feels so annoying.. u either have to run around like a headless chicken with the attacker waiting for the cross to come in so you have the position and speed advantage or you have to just sit infront of the attacker (between the receiving attacker and guy crossing) and pray the game doesnt fuck you because of ping or smth
Ye it's just broken man. It's based on multiple variables
for example, angle to the ball, your speed vs ball speed, height of the ball etc
but this just creates a situation where nobody knows wtf is happening and attackers generally have the advantage because... they are moving forward....
idk, ive had many ppl tell me its not broken including ppl who play in tournies but I just dont see it
ive tried to adapt but honestly i dont think I can. Either im literally just shit, or my ping and the games netcode just makes it more often than not a disadvantaged situation for me even if i think im doing the correct things. idk. feels bad 🤷
one thing that does seem true though is that Lobbed pass has slightly better prio
The thing is it seems to happen even when I "attack" the ball, running towards where it's coming from, meeting the path of it before the attacker buffering the input before the indicator appears. And still lose a header to a bicycle kick. Then other times I'll be out of position, from a standing start and magnetise all the way to the ball and somehow win it. It doesn't feel consistent or learnable, I just try to do what seems to have the best odds of working
Also it feels like if you were to try these bicycle kicks as clearances as a defender, unless you're completely unchallenged you would lose every time to a header so I don't know why it behaves differently depending where you are on the pitch
@hexed epoch obviously isn't a 100% success block, but in my experience i noticed that staying out of the net (in this specific situation + few others) is the best counter possible and i do 2 things:
1- I cancel my momentum constantly in and out of net...when in stance u can do a dash (X/A) in a direction, release stance and start running, doing so u will maintain all the momentum , so u can go straight than immediately go back or left/right with the same exact momentum (without the annoying animation of changing direction) I use this A LOT!!! To bait early pass shot, lob, horizontal pass (where i immeditly change momentum) diving into the feet of the second atker, etc etc. Doing so i counter most of the offensive bullshit...
2- to counter the 2 attacker volley/headers i kinda use the same logic as point 1 with few differences:
1- when keeper launches the attacker (with my friend that always try to block them, this is a key factor) if they manage to stay just out of my box, i Watch their body (it's so difficult, but u can understand where they're gona shot based on direction of their torso/leg/head) if they stay inside my box I just use the extra effort to rush in their face, staying exactly in front of him and dive without direction (doing so, if you dive the last second, just right before/after they touch the ball , if u stay close enough, the keeper will literally fracture his spine to catch it sometimes ahah
2- with the same logic , when there are 2 of them (is waayyy harder) but still they will go together kinda in the same spot (coutinf the potential slide they'll do I try to predict where should I stay to trigger the auto block) plus remember I play in a full team, often i talk a lot calling blocks etc, this is a HUGE help not everyone can have, cause often with good position my mates can counter at least 1 of them so I just watch the second, other times I just got scored on but hey, we can't save all
Regsrdels of point 1, I can't stress how good it is, pls start to abuse this!!! All the 1v1 - 2v1 situation, all the time the ball is in 1 corner out of box and the attackers is coming to collect it, when after i contrast the ball is kinda close but I can't reach it before the attacker....in all this situation , doing the forward EE sprint into the stance dash backwards + running u can create soooooo much pressure cause:
1- u don't let attacker all the space he normally have
2- is a good bait, often I collect free block just doing this, with them trying to pass shot me or lob me
3- especially in the corner situation (when they are running too to collect ball) i EE run to make them think I'll challenge, just to immediately shift momentum back in the net once i almost reach the end of my box ornim closer to him (doing so often they do an early wrong cross/pass, they try to boom it in net and I'll catch it , or just make them wait doing some dribble (obtaining the 2 more seconds my mate needed to reach him)
4- all the 1v1 , I constantly go up and back, sometimes try to bait using an EE in the net (literally entering my net) when they are just out my box, letting them think it's free, just to dash back in position a bit out of net e dive to catch It, or just do back and forth till they fucked up doing a lob or similar, or just fake 1 time (coming back to net, using then EE to go in their face AND DO NOTHING) just hold stance, often times they will shot to u or try a pass that u can read going back to net
5- 2v1 is the most difficult situation, almost impossibile to block but using all the 4 points above I manage to block them sometimes
Thanks for the info, it is golden. But I don't think I get the dash cancel
You spam dash and then let it go when it goes out and instantly EE so you get extra momentum?
How do you stop fast if you need to? When you press defensive stance again it keeps running for a bit
1 step at the time , i explained my self wrong, i make 2 type of movment:
1- lets call it "momentum shift":
while in stance (L2 / LT) i do 1 dash (X / A) in any direction, immidiately after i release stance and dash button, pressing right after the running (standrd run, L1 / LT)
- U can do that in any direction as many times as u want, just remember always dash while in stance (to cancel momentum) than maintaining the direction where u dashed u start sprinting...if u want to cancel again the momentum in another direction, u can QUICKLY press L2 + X + direction (just for a brief of a second, just to input the dash) and start running again with L1
i used this to move around my box, useful to bait, repositioning during high pass/cross , or just to bait/gain time running close to the edge of the box (when ball is going to corners) than immeditely dash back running on net
2- quick variation , i used it in very specific situation, lets call it "EE bait":
same as point 1 but (lets say atker is coming in front of u) in stance i dash forward > use EE+sprint (running a bit after the EE, to quickly shorten distance) and immediately dash back + running to go net...doing so often they think im out of net and try to shot, lob/pass or wait (thinking ill go all in on them) doing so, if they shot u MUST react and dive correctly, if lob/pass u got time to repositioning (using the stance cancel+ running) and catch it, if they wait u just gained few seconds letting ur mate reach him.
with this, based on situation, at times i played close to my box, if the ball comes to me (after a contrast, wrong pass etc, but isnt close enough to safely catch it) i fake im going to (without using EE) than dash back and RIGHT AFTER the keeper start to run im safe to press again L1/LT to do EE coming back to net, baiting most of the time a shot or lob for an easy catch
now, the EE into the net, is a thing i do in super specific situations, where sitting in the net or just a bit outside the line, i do a stance+ dash forward > doing a back EE running (triggering the long ass animation of turning around, where ur player goes a bit more forward before running back) but using EE is faster than usual and, based on where i trigger it, sometimes doin it i go inside my net. atakers seen this often shot straight forward...and i (already being in the net) i instantly do the stance (canceling the running, stopping on the line of goal, prepared to dive) or if doing so i enter physically into the net i stance+dash back in the goal line, prepering to dive and catch it
REMEMBER: i use this ONLY after few minutes in (not in every game) after few dash in + neutral dive saves, where atakers may start to not shoot anymore, looking for fakes/pass , so i just give them a "fake opening" (seeming that i messed up the L2+ dash thing) while im more than ready to stance and dive
@hexed epoch puting in words seems soo complex, if needed i can do an instant replay , doing it in training, showing u how easy all is
Sorry that I'm terribly busy, but thanks for all this explaining. Mind if I add you to ask questions? If it's not a bother
