Half the reason I disable voice chat is because I can hear everything under the sun that’s happening at their residence because there is not audio gate for the mic on consoles. I swear I think I overheard someone making a sandwich during the whole game

So long as we can promptly disable it. I don't use the voice chat most of the time because people are more likely to be annoying/useless/toxic than helpful.

I feel this suggestion is going to just add another avenue for the same stuff.

Im not tryna have my teammates stop entirely to talk shit to eachother because the keeper missed one goal and so now everytime the striker (who normally who is the one that initiates the beef) misses, I get 2 teammates standing still taking 30 seconds to flame eachother

the only other kind of ping I would like is to say that you're leaving the ball for your teammate

so when you and your teammate are both trying to fight for the ball, I would like to ping indicating that giving up the ball to them so that I can run away to get open for a pass from them

if you ping when you are open

#

you character says "pass" and depending on where you are, they will say where on the pitch

#

there is also a blue line that leads to you when you ask for a pass

#

if you pass to someone and want them to pass back, you can literally ping after you pass for your character to ask for a 1, 2

#

if you have the ball and are looking for a pass... you character asks for options if you ping

#

and if someone asks for a pass but they arent open you can literally ping and your character will say "make a run"

#

and people always say most people have shit mics when that just aint that true

I can understand quick chats like rocket league, but what your applying with text chat (OP) is on the same level as VC if nobody talks no-one is going to type either. And adding text chat could fuel to the toxicity, you see how toxic people are with the quick chats already when they have the option to talk

Lots more people would type in chat than would talk over mics, because the amount of courage it takes to actually vocalize your thoughts is much greater than typing some bullshit into a chat box. Also you'd "hear" (see?) from a lot of 12 year olds that would never dare share their squeaky tween voice over comms. And no one wants to read that.
