I had a match where i caught the ball in defensive stance and, as per usual, the player goes through the whole grabbing animation. Someone was pressuring me even while i was on the ground and the least i expected is to, as soon as i got up, to drop the ball to my feet and get tackled.

Please, count the invul ball timer AFTER i could wake up from my animation. Its really infuriating to be tackled right after getting up from an uncancellable anination

ye happened to me as well. Add to that my ping and I was basically stunlocked lol. Another thing that has happened is grabbing the ball on the edge of the box with the same animation occuring, if you are just outside, that's it game over. You don't even get a timer, it's just stun lock animation into instant tackle. I understand it should be risky to take the ball on the edge of the box but it just feels poorly designed to watch a stun lock with an innevitable outcome

there is probably a way to not use that animation but sometimes u just get the ball punted at you without time to react

I think it's decent form of balance.
If you catch ball from your teammate and it gives you little time to decide what to do and gives enemy opportunity to press you it's good system.
If it happen after enemy had possesion of the ball it was probably bug.

And about catching ball on the edge of the box and going off because of animation.
It's high risk high reward kind of play so seems to be working well.

Unless there is another way to catch the ball you are stuck in an animation lock, you cannot input a move

on top of that the netcode is so bad in this game that you will be inside the box, teleport out, get stuck in an animation and its a freeball for the striker. That's not even the main issue though. It's just bad gameplay really. Remove the animation. How is it fair the keeper has 0 time to control the ball? Why even let him grab it lmao

absolutely no point having the animation if it just leads to a dropped ball, you are input locked in animation, timer runs out at the same time as the animation finishes and then stunlocked on tackle. What's the point? If we could atleast impact which animation to use I'd be fine with that system and getting punished for the wrong input. In this case though i don't think there is a way.

And you completely ignored what op said which was with that animation there is no time, you drop the ball as soon as you stand up, depending on how the server feels. If they had amazing netcode sure why not, but we don't have good netcode and shit is inconsistent 🤷

But it's not keeper mechanics fault.
It's entirely on your/op connection and server on which you play.
I never had a bug that instantly dropped ball after animation ended, if you are having it constantly that would be on your connection or server.

I didn't ignore anything, you just don't understand the problem and blame your gameplay issues on something unrelated.

The problem is not netcode, is when the game counts the invulnerability timer, it starts as soon as you catch the ball. The issue is that if you catch it on defensive stance, you will do a longer catching animation than if you just walk over it. If you have 3s of invul, 2.5s are spent on the animation and you only have 0.5s to take a shot right away

And that's why i think it's good balance of the game.
If your team is pressed enough that they need to pass the ball to keeper who is pressured by another enemy it's skill difference between teams.
Your team can't play the ball without keeper switching from 4v4 to 5v4 so you should have some penalty for doing it and there is penalty as keeper can't hold ball too long.

In your case it's probably you playing with bad internet connection + playing on worse performing server or some kind of bug that should be looked into.

If it's really that instant, it could be some kind of bug.

Its not even a balance thibg, i dont even talk about the amount of time, it's when it starts counting. You guys are missing the point of the post tenko

i think i agree with you but im just gonna say what i was gonna say, basically i just think that if im the goalie and i slide or dive and im on the ground with the ball in my hands. that timer should NOT be going down until I get to my feet, the timer needs to be there always so goalies cant just hold the ball for the eniter game or a super long time, and i dont have a problem with how much time is on the timer, it is fully just WHEN the timer is started that is my issue.
