#Stepovers

During last testing I believe you were able to enter a hyperarmor state where tackles cannot steal the ball right under you. (with a move I have forgot)
Now it's removed. (as I might think) (and no im not talking about stepovers)

Dribbling is so much more difficult than defending as all you have to do is just enter a defensive stance and box up your opponent and do a standing tackle. I promise you multiple people tried proving me wrong on multiple occasions and I have beat them 4-0 in custom matches. I have the receipt.

We should add stepovers, each stepover would cost its own stamina and you could control how much stepovers you do, so you can do 2, 3, or even 6. But it would drain stamina with each stepover. Each stepover enters you in a hyperarmor state where when you get tackled, you do a quick weave animation with the ball.

And for the nae sayers, Standing tackle virtually has no cooldown as you can spam it and it also covers ground making your character push forward with each standing tackle with its above average hitbox.

and before you say

#

"Ooh just pass the ball if someone is guarding you like that"

#

if the team has a brain while playing like this

#

man to man

#

its jo-over

#

even pro players in last beta cup was not doing this because this has been recently introduced

#

last testing it was way more fun because you could actually solo several people and score

Not sure if the stepover thing is the answer to fix this, but defense seems actually OP right now.
"Middle" standing tackle has so much hitbox, it often beats "side stepping" even if you didn't properly aim just because of the hitbox. And the counter to being in defensive mode is supposed to be that you can't "target" the ball meaning you can't stop a "rainbow flick" but since there's no cooldown, windup or endlag to enter or exit defensive mode you can just trap it before the other person gets it.

offense needs a hyperarmor move

#

to negate getting tackled

#

otherwise its just

pass -> pass -> pass -> pass -> Shoot

And the fact that the "attacker" needs to be spending stamina just to get past that "defender" and the "defender" is just standing still waiting for you to waste all of your stamina ends up in a situation where even if you can get past it if you don't immediately get rid of the ball you're still losing the ball just because the "defenders" still have full stamina and you don't

seriously

with ball you entering phase "USELESS" too fast. It's annoying. I like to play through passes but also I want to be able doing something with ball too. Maybe get rid from one defender and gain my team number advantage then make pass, but is nearly impossible in current meta. 🤦‍♂️ 👎 😡

#

Woiuld t the logical conclusion be to nerf standing tackle then

#

Not give hyper armor

#

A notoriously terrible mechanic in any game for balancing

twin geyser
#

or make a funny ragdoll animation

#

yeah actually do that

#

i want to break ankles

strong warren
#

adding another dribbling mechanic will break lower elo even more and make defense useless once again

twin geyser
#

but not having it to do with balancing the game

#

just being another cool thing

cursive sparrow
#

in traditional soccer you can actually dribble and beat your defender

strong warren
#

idiot

cursive sparrow
#

no fucking shit

#

the game is based off a sport that is played in the real world idiot

#

its like making a basketball game and making all the dribble moves sucky

#

and making the only to score passes and screens

gloomy locust
#

That just won’t be a good addition because you will just not be able to get tackled if you have that armour

cursive sparrow
#

then how could we balance it out

#

mind you It told you the frames per stepover would be small'

#

and it would take stamina PER stepover
