#server authorative towing ๐ - still has

@fresh token It uses built in physics system, its just a joint that attaches them. So if you put a heavy vehicle behind a small vehicle it could overpower it when braking and become unstable. Towing just the m15a12 has significant drag on the one out front because of the additional resistance. So a stronger engine/torque delivered to ground does get simulated through normal wheeled simulation
I see
Can this same system potentially be applied to Aircraft?
Slingloading and such
And no, I haven't done any procanims. I can't be bothered finding a good model for an A frame or something to do it properly, so don't care that much.
Dont need a model for a Frame, as most vehicles have tow hooks modeled onto them already
You could tow helicopters for sure. Slingloading behaves way differently than a single joint could simulate. probably could fake it but not something i'm looking to do
Just needs a big thick Cable to attach from here to the attach action on the vehicle being towed
Instead of using the magic of the Force to pull it with sheer willpower
yeah you could do that. but no way to animate cables correctly I believe
6DOF joint should be "good enough" especially with the custom movement component, but doesn't seem determinate so desync is big issue. I always assumed a custom NwkMovement implementation was almost necessary for this, glad to see the progress on this haha.
This is pure vanilla network movement ๐
@mint socket yes-ish. Brakes cannot be set via script on helicopter so you are dragging it unless someone disabled the brakes before you attach it. Second issue is replication settings may not allow for it nicely, but im still playing around with it
Sweet. Finally something good comes of server authoritative vehicles! BI didn't do anything with it yet except make driving less fun.
Well, as an experiment can you hook this up on the Chinook and see what happens? Lol.
Yeah I did, unfortunately I can't get the parameters quite right for it to work nicely in MP
works nicely in SP
I'll keep experimenting, maybe eventually it'll work
My semi one day can come back
