So, even on a new, completely empty project all variables return 0?
And are you on experimental or stable?
I am using latest stable tools, 1.3.0.157.
In a new completely empty project Global Variables work, but if I try to override GlobalVariables.conf and add my own variable to the list then they all return 0.
Same if I create my own variable config file they all return 0.
I have my custom variables.conf like this:
And AudioSystem.GetVariableValue("testvar", "{75083726724E4AFC}variables.conf") returns 0.
GetVariableIDByName returns -1
Does the file have to be in a certain folder?
So turns out if I restart the Workbench after doing any edits to audio variables conf files, it seems to work, at least overriding GlobalVariables and adding my own
I guss I will just do that for now as it is the only way I got it working somewhat
Oh dude, so sorry, forgot to answer! Yes, I think pretty much any config files require a WB restart to be "properly" applied.
Just attempted this as well, and getting -1 as the ID return, and 0 as the value return. I also restarted WB.
Thanks, I got it working with jank just like FinalMix.afm, but clearly something weird is going on as @daring drift has the same experience. Or we just don't know what we are doing

I just overrode GlobalVariables.conf in a new mod on the Stable Tools and added a new Variable. Seems to... work? (GTestVar at the bottom)
(If not, quick step-by-step repro would be neat!)
