Map inspired by real locations in the Ore Mountains. I had to change many places so that most of the map was not just forests. There is an airport, several military bases, many villages and the dominant feature is a dam. I have been working on the map for more than a year, but I am still maybe halfway through. The screenshots are from the course of the year, so some places have already changed as I am still learning. The lighting, which is on most of the screenshots, has already been changed. Since you have posted it here, are you planning on publishing a WIP version?
I remember the photos of the damn. Good to see more progress
Fantastic photos, cant wait to have a look myself through the map. 👍
I've redone the place three times already, I'm still discovering new things and techniques 😀
It will take some more time. It's currently around 200 hours of work. I need to start connecting the individual locations, then I can release a WIP version. I'll keep you informed.
Looks awesome
Looking very good! Keep it up!
Many places in the Ore Mountains disappeared after the expulsion of the German population and the construction of the dam. That’s why even old postcards serve as inspiration for me.
Beautiful, were they expelled after ww2?
Exactly, many villages was destroyed.
That approach to map making is really cool! Your pics look really solid as well. Looking forward to see more of the map : )
@bronze swan
This looks very clean mate
Thank you all!
104km² But there are a few issues right now. First, the terrain is inland, so I'm still hoping BI will add the option to generate terrain outside the map, like in the older Arma games. Second, there's a railway running across the map, and I'm still hoping there will be one on Kolgujev that I can use. I'm working on a WIP version, but I need to connect a few locations to make the map at least somewhat coherent and usable for some scenarios.
There’s somethiping called the outside terrain tool
104km²?
how many gb's
5.41 Gb
WIP labor camp for political prisoners. There were several of them in the Ore Mountains. The prisoners mined uranium for the Soviet Union.
Something like that, I'm still trying to find the perfect combination 😄
Something like that, but the first fence is concrete. There is a space between the fences for security. A gate for vehicles, an entrance for people. Additionally, there is a separate area for soldiers and prisoners. I'm drawing inspiration from photos, but I might have to visit one in person to get a better idea.
Looks grim, nice work
Sorry, my bad 😄
Still don't like the building 😄
What exactly do you mean please?
The terrain is based on a real-life location in the Ore Mountains. However, there are few interesting places for gameplay in this area, so I used old maps and photos to restore some villages, relocated military outposts from the wider region, reinforced the borders a bit, and made similar adjustments. For example, there is nothing in this location. There used to be a mine here a long time ago, but the place no longer exists, so I approached it this way.
Looks sick 🔥
Will there be trenches on this map?
Nice 😎
Is this still being worked on?
yes 😄 but 104km² in one person, takes more time than I expected. Plus I'm looking forward to the new objects from Kolgujev
any chance of a WIP version being released anytime soon?
After the new patch with building destruction drops, I’ll check if everything’s good to go and then release a demo version of the map.
Around 25% of the map will be available, along with some extra sections in Game Master mode.
sounds great

Quick update:
Right now I’m working on connecting areas on the map so it’s at least playable for small scenarios. I’m smoothing out terrain, adding textures, building paths and roads, and finishing up the forests. Luckily, only a few things needed fixing after the update.
very excited to play on this map
Still alive 😀
Will you be using some of the nee Kolgujev assets?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm waiting for
Do you think a WIP release in the near future is realistic? This would be the unmatched king of Eastern European maps
I’d like to release a very basic version after the Kolgujev update comes out. I’d like to use many of the new assets and see how everything works when I publish a WIP version of the map.
Lookin forward to it
The worst part is, I had no idea how much work it would take. It started with “cool, I’ll make the landscape where I live,” but after 275 hours, I’ve got about half of it done 😄
That’s how it goes lmao
Haha yep. Tag me when it releases or if you want beta tester! We're looking for map for our life mod until we get a custom one.
Looks lovely. Keep it up.
The map is set on the East German/Czechoslovak border right?
Is this available?
Yes, in reality there was only one row of fences, and not everywhere. Plus a few military outposts. But I wanted to make the border division more pronounced — even though this particular border was actually a bit further to the west.
The WIP test version will be available after the Kolgujev update is released. I’d like to enhance the map with assets from the new update.
Understand completely. Looks awesome!
Thank you!
I hope all those trees won’t be a problem… Three days of work just making forests 😄
Yeah, looks very good. Has a very realistic feel to it. Making a map at the German border Region of Czechoslovakia is very suitable for the assets that Bohemia provides for Reforger, which makes the map very authentic.
What is the size of the map?
~100km²
Solid
How you liking the new kolgujev assets?
Very much, I can’t wait for the update to be released. The mining environment will fit in perfectly here.
Looking great but it looks to me like the satmap is too bright
Looks awesome! Looking forward to playing on it
I lost my satmap, so i must regenerate from current textures, it will be better later
Absolutni nadhera, mapam chybi smysl pro detail velmi casto, uzasna prace ! 👏
Still alive 😄
Have been there already
Here in the Ore Mountains?
Nah, you posted same thing before 🙈
Ohhh @terse pumice when’s this map droppin
satmap looking much cleaner
It will still take a bit more time, but the road network is almost finished. At least a basic version of it.
Right now I’m working on the forest areas, which are about 70% done. Some cities and villages are already finished as well.
But I don’t want to release a version that’s too unfinished — I want it to be possible to play at least some kind of scenario.
what’s the % looking like now?
I’ve now finished the forest areas, and most of the roads and paths are done, at least in a rough form.
I still need to finish the surface textures so I can create my own satmap, and then I can theoretically release version 0.1.
So far, I’ve generated 1,998,635 trees 😄🌲 and manually laid many kilometers of roads.
oh sounds great i js hope it doesn’t lag on console
Looks very nice, I love how authentic it feels so far, like a real place, not just "a map"
Custom dead/swamp forrest
lookin good!
Beautiful 🙂
Planned release date?
Yeah 😄 But I’ll need another month or two for a preview version. I’m making pretty solid progress now since I’ve got a bit more time.
Ingame testing with friend...
dude, impeccable attention to detail👌
any news?
If I manage to solve the AI navmesh by the end of the month, I’ll drop a testing version. It’s definitely a work in progress, but I believe the feedback will help point me in the right direction.
So excited for this, been a while since a good Europe map.
It’s still a long way from being a good map 😄
I finally got the Navmesh working! Now just polishing the final details before the v0.1 release. 🚀
How big is the terrain?
~100km²
Gonna be awesome
I've been following this project, I really can't wait, it looks amazing- I'm not sure, but is this technically the largest map in Reforger? I haven't seen anything bigger than 50 km²
What map is 50?
I was giving a rough estimate, I don't even know if I've seen one that is 50 km². I know for sure I've seen 32 km² or around that with Faircroft Islands
Keep your expectations in check, please! 😅 Most zones are basically just placeholders for future content and there's a lot of unfinished stuff. I mainly want to gather some feedback to guide the development and share what I've built up to this point.
I'd like to release a preview version of the map with GameMaster mode on March 31st. If nothing goes wrong, of course!
Can't wait!
Version 0.0.9 is out now! Enjoy! Please send your feedback. Thanks for the support!
Really like it, looks very natural and organic already. Will this be a train line in the future?
Exactly. I tried the 'Rail Enfusion' mod, but it didn't work very well. I'm still hoping that we'll finally get functional railways, at least once Arma 4 is out.
Been waiting for this one
The map is definitely a gem. It does have quite a lot of forests, I expected it to be more open. But I looked it up on the map, and the area is in fact quite foresty.
What I also saw that some parts of your map are in fact area of the former GDR, not Czech Republic even. That makes it a bit more difficult, because to work realistic, you would have to create the border and create East German assets for it, which would be plenty of work. Of course, you could also pretend it's all Czechoslovakia and use the Bohemia assets only, but my guess was, that you created a pure Czech map close to the border region, to go around this problem.
The sceenshot I posted for example seems to be on the German side (the border seems to be the little river running in the valley in the background).
if you put together some moss textures it would create a cool atmosphere in those big forests
Seeing map creators use mode and old growth would be awesome!
Nice warsaw pact map👍
Yeah, the German part will be tricky, so I’m leaving it for the very end. I’ll definitely add more points of interest instead of just woods, but when I first started, I didn't realize how much work it would actually be! 😀
There might be somebody coming up with east German assets or something, this would be a relieve for you.
I'm working on West-German assets, which will not help you a bit unfortunately.
The only east German item I have on my list is the AKA electric RG28 mixer, because it was exported in large numbers to the West and were very common in household of the Bundesrepublik.
Not fully the same, but veeery similar
The average person in a firefight will not be able to tell the difference
Some tips on DDR assets?
My guess is that someboby will make some at some point. But no idea so far. Nice sign. Unfortunately my czech is bad, so I only understand half of it.
