Man wth. I have now modified my des.etx to match yours and still wont work in editor. Im gonna just copy and paste your files now and see.
Your files dont work for me either. The only thing that leads is some editor setting that is different than yours I guess

I also changed respawnonstart to 0 so it loads me right in without having to place a spawn point

yeah but if i switch to scout and kill command. command comes back with different clothes and face
and vice versa
the only way to test the loadout is to change it from the default unit loadout. so i switch to something obvious so that when they repawn I will know if it works
so both command and scout have flight suits (which differs from their default loadout)
when they repawn they have their default loadout

this version I have working on my dedicated server. it works great. just tested it on the server 5 mins ago.
this version DOESNT work in the editor. thats bonkers right?

respawnOnStart if it is 0 or 1 will run onPlayerRespawn.sqf upon start

Okay listen to this strange behaviour. I am testing my old one in hte editor. It doesnt work in there. But if I export it and put in on my server with two computers (both clients) it does work.
it changes because of what you are putting in initPlayerLocal
you are setting the unit, no matter who owns it from your machine
which means every player that joins is also setting that unit for everyone every time
I will export your and put on server right now. I am using FASTER as a dedicated server and I connect with my desktop and laptop to simulate a multiplayer environment
don't fill the slot with AI
make sure mine isn't the one that has your initPlayerLocal edits. needs to be empty
the one I just tested i forgot i changed respawnOnStart = 1; to 0 and it wont let me repawn now. reexporting so its exactly as you have sent
in your mission you have a respawn point right?

aaaaaand it works perfect on the server. Man im so sorry to have wasted you time. I was under the impression that if you write code for dedicated multiplayer servers it should function for local host and single player by extention. whihc is why I always test in the editor first
I dont get why it wont work in the editor but it will on the server...
and just so you know, we put a lot of effort into the wiki, its very rare that it is wrong. when you are trying to impliment an example and it doesn't work, there is something on your end
it does work in the editor, all my testing is done with 1 computer, no dedicated server, multiple instances of arma
and i alt tab between them
you just ignore anything on the host client as it IS the server, so you gotta ignore local stuff on it.

no, you start the host in the editor and select play in multiplayer
the clients you go to multiplayer, LAN and join
oh yeah and disable anticheat.
