this is a project aiming to bring more fixed winged aircraft into Arma reforger. currently we are working on the Boeing F/A-18 super hornet. the aircraft is not completely ready yet but it is out for testing. we do plan on bringing more in the future but for now this is our main project

hotfix publishing. mostly small fixes. notably should fix the bombs not working on the f-18 and the copilots broken seat. sorry for the inconvenience.
I got in to fly this joker and had no idea what does what. Any chance someone has information of the UI for the F18?
I'll eventually learn how layouts work so I can make a proper HUD for this thing. for now there's only the limited a10 HUD. with your altitude on the left with your aoa on the bottom, and your airspeed on the right side. I'm unsure if it is displayed in metric or imperial. likely metric

do you have any plans to add an air to air missles like an R60 the mig23? if so that would be awesome to have actual air battles between different jets 
also keep us updated with the mig whenever you can. im sure everyone would love to the all the progress you make
as I said before. there's no real way to add pilot fired guided munitions with the current system as you have to be aiming to acquire a lock. I could do a workaround like I did the TGP but it would be janky. I will work to figure out a way tho.
and yes I will post whatever updates I have on the next aircraft. as of now work hasn't started on it as I'm figuring some other stuff out

for that reason I am heavily considering doing the mig35 instead.
basically a two seater mig29 with a Tpod and ground strike capabilities. a perfect counterpoint to the f18

AA missiles may be a bit overpowered but you only get two and they are (supposedly) dodgable with enough speed and maneuverability.
they are not outmaneuver able trust me
also the wso seat is as loud as the outside but no biggy i just turn my effect down

-the entire Right Panel has been modeled
-Upper Left Panel almost completed plus Parking Brake Handle and Landing Gear Handle
-Throttle completed and Throttle Panel almost completed
-Ejection Handles for both Pilot and RIO have been completed, and added
-Arresting Gear Handle completed

the cockpit has a lowrez texture. we are going to make it an actual 3d interactable surface. plan is to make most knobs functional or at least semi functional

How do you access this camera? Is this the copilot?
Go to the RIO seat and look at the right side of the console to interact with the targeting pods camera
Ah. Consoles kinda weird when it comes to looking around in the cockpit.
I figured out how to fix the free look on console. You have to unbind the toggle freelook. I have mine set to hold RB for free look. Works perfect.
I could just disable aircraft controls from the wso seat but I really don't want to. but if it's really that much of a problem for console can be considered.
ops I realized a mistake on the f18. fuel consumption is set to 100 per hour with around 120 of fuel. I'll fix it in the next update. eitherway an hour twenty minutes on a full tank should be enough for most ops.

yes. but to my knowledge most milsims use 4x fuel settings instead of 1x. so fuel could run very early
an hour an 20 by default sounds not bad at all for milsim any fuel consumption lower than that is up to the gms
the way I was planning it at 1x fuel you'd have a semi realistic 6 hours of flight time at full fuel but that'd make the aircraft unbelievably heavy. while at 4x you'd have an hour and a half at full fuel
the btr at 1x runs for about 4 hours
yeah whatever you seem is best. i doubt anyone is going to use the full 6hours tho
my concern is for the players that use 4x fuel. well I'll leave it as is for now. if I receive any complains I'll change it. it's up to y'all anyway.

Flight model
For a first time mod it's actually good
Honestly I’d be willing to donate for higher quality if you have an idea of what works
I think an LHD or LHA that’s functional would be best
flight model uses redlines as a base. for now the flight model is a bit similar to the a10 although slightly tweaked. I will eventually work on it more extensively to make it of a higher fidelity while still fitting Arma.
strider has the Adelaide. I would love to get a better model but honestly it is way too expensive. as of now I'd rather focus on functionality a bit until I'm comfortable with the thought of getting a new model.
also. I'll eventually get rid of the a10 as a dependency once I'm done with animations and sounds. for now a lot of small things are still dependant on it.

Nice I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself but when you guys do work on the f-16 I know you will probably use the block-II known for being the double seater but in terms of loadouts based off my knowledge from warthunder the 2 center pylons can carry gbu-12s the next set of pylons can carry 3 mavericks each using the Bru-42 and the last 4 pylons usually carry 4x aim9m (fox-2) or 2x aim7m (fox-1) and 2 aim 9ms will that be the main loadout then again I'm probably getting too excited 😅
we only have the single seat version. no plans on getting that out for now since there'd be no real reason to. no systems like radar and the aim9s are broken.

well i lied. mig35 is out. keep in mind this is the Minimum viable product. the very least that i could do in 4 or so hours since the project file corrupted. so thers only the main gun (temporarily same aas a10). enjoy. ( anims are still broken not much i can do)

The plane will react to wether or not the wheels are up or down. For instance. If you put your wheels up and try to land, regardless of what it looks like on the outside, your wheel brakes won't stop and you'll most likely crash and die. If you're flying and put your wheels down, you'll see it affect your airspeed as it's causing more drag. The physics of the wheels going up and down are there and working. Just not the visuals of it.

that thing is incredibly light at 11k kg, with some huge engines + thrust vectoring. with the pylons added it is slightly heavier (about 5-7k kilos added) won't turn as good but better than the hornet fully loaded.
I just would love an aircraft you can strafe. And pull back around for reattack without having to go around a whole qtr of the map lol. Idk what the IRL comparison is

me and some others pair it with the f22 helmet and one of the f35 visors, if not aslong as your in a cockpit the f22 visor paired with the f22 helmet, you wont see the visor infront of your face very much at all.

The F18 flies good. Just nothings animated like wings and gear. And the wings are heavy af. When you land or take off any movement to the left or right you will tip it over
that seems to be an issue with the landing gear. ill have it somewhat fixed i think

they should work like a 2000lb tow with 5ms of self propulsion. I can't honestly tell if it works as intended as testing on MP vs testing on workbench can wield very different results.

ok so I have messaged the model maker and am waiting for a response. I have also done some research to check if this model was ripped or not. doesn't seem to be tbh due to some small things like renders and the textures on certain parts as well as the model itself not matching 100% with aces.. but still. just to be sure I will be removing the mod from the workshop until I can get confirmation without shadow of a doubt that the model is legit.

im not, the same thing happened with the little bird its just annoying.
some small inconsistencies make me believe that that's the case but at the same time the cockpit texture is pretty much the same. so I am quite worried that could be a possibility.
i just loaded up Ace combat 7 and i cant seem to find a mig-35 anywhere in that game. where did u get that picture from?

ahhh its a DLC plane thats why i didnt see it
one thing that I find strange assuming it is the same model. the cockpit lacks 3d switches on my model. having only the similar textures. that and the worn metal texture on my model vs the clean almost new textures on the ace model. still I am waiting for proof from the model maker that this is infact not ripped. if I can't say for sure the mod will stay removed unfortunately...
also I wasn't able to find images of the wso seat from ace.
the outside textures / livery is definitely not the same. as well as considerable differences in materials. note here. in the images below. how the stars on the wings and the aircraft number located on the engine intake don't quite match. the engine shroud materials aren't quite the same and the pylons textures are different all together. (this and some other differences are consistent across all of the images presented in the website.)
those numbers on the intake are decals and the mesh not aligning perfectly is because the ripped model actually uses a lower lod than the one from ace combat.

also its strange how you guys are making the mig 35 which uses the km 36 ejection seat and the ejection handle does not look like a loop. that is the f-35 ejection handle

I checked DCS forums and there is a mod but it does not boast the same camo and the ejection seat is the accurate one it uses the km-36 like clicks said

100% a rip without a doubt, the cockpit is a lower quality probably because only the external mesh was used for the rip. also who makes a model without landing gear bays ? unless those landing gears came from another mesh.

that's because the original seats were deleted and prefab seats from the other model was used because it was easier to make the animations for one seat than to make it is for multiple types which might clip with the player model.

considering the author is responsible for the contents of the mods that is uploaded to workshop (the author states he has all the rights (ownership/ authorship) over the content and doesn’t infringe on someone elses copyrights on upload) and the two models have the same provenance, there is a high chance that neither are owned by whoever was distributing these.

we have confirmed that the mig35 was very likely ripped and edited by the author. I have since removed both mods from the workshop and we will work on making our own model.

as far as im aware nao didnt get them fixed fully, but they are getting there.
They still blew up on everyone else's screen and chased damage, that was enough for me
bombs have a desynch iissue it seems. my fix worked on sinle player and on vanilla maps
i might eventually make an a10 patch icluding the mavs and stuff.

it makes sense really, everon is too small of a vanilla map to support a huge aircraft that will most likely if modded correctly wont be able to turn fast enough before going outside of the map, i would even say the same thing for modded maps.
i think the only huge aircraft that would make sense would be adams c130
let alone imagine landing a massive plane on any map that gives you a big white foggy circle while in the air only seeing shit ike 300 meters infrot of you.
This reason is why I believe prop planes like the Sky Warden would be the best for Reforger atm.

as I said the f18 is about 60% - 70%. exterior model (the cockpit is now 3d
) and textures aren't as good tho. I'm working on a different aircraft too. model from Arma 2 and it's a single seat but I believe it's going to be I interesting with the targeting pod stuff. also will add that to the a10 as somebody suggested. more as a temporary solution tho. anyway sorry for the lack of updates. life's pretty hectic (and I admit I've been lazy playing some falcon BMS on my free time

Not necessarily bohemia allows modders to make versions to be compatible with the upcoming updates so it's more or less if the modder has prepared for said update on the experimental version of the game
the a10 is broken which by extension breaks all my planes since they require some of the a10s systems to work. as soon as thats fixed ill be able to work on the harrier again.

I'm currently on vacation. will work on the harrier on Sunday once I'm back. few things need to be reconfigured since the redcore code changed a bit but it should be almost done for a MVP release. no ETA yet.

sadly. balancing these for a large scale pvp server is a nightmare. and also the quality of the aircraft I've put out so far is admittedly not the greatest but we are improving (the f18 was infact my first vehicle modded into AR.)
Well quality isn’t exactly on the forefront of peoples minds in arma, especially when the aircraft are far away, and I do feel like if you looked into it you could balance it with high supply cost, anti air guns, enemy planes, etc

the mig 23 is on indefinite hiatus due to problems with the model. as I said before.
I don't know yet. the model is from Arma 2 with some slight alterations to the cockpit. it is serviceable but I do want to one-day upgrade it to a better one. but I lack the funds to do so.

hey. good news bad news. im having tons of issues with my pc rn which means progress on the harrier has taken a pretty big blow. so i give yall two options. A: i could rush and release the harrier ASAP (currently we have the flares, gun, rocket pods, and dumb bombs) but lacking proper anims, a custom cockpit, and a tgp, i woud have more time and peace of mind to work on it knowing theres a working version out to the public. or B: would you prefer if i took longer and released the harrier with a tgp, anims and a custom cockpit. i would take longer to release it but you guys would have a better quality aircrfat right away

yes the flight characteristics should be noticably different. but there are some quirks with the lift vectors I couldn't figure out.

correct. the only thing it is borrowing from the a10 at this point are animations, sounds and the wreck model. but soon I'll work on replacing those (the a10 will then not be a dependency anymore)

landing gear is done boys. it is not 100% realistic due to a bug I found in redline core. but it works. the flight model has been fixed and you shouldn't fly off the side of the airstrip anymore lol

The harrier flys sweet now man, the take off seems to be pulling right now instead of left, is it a trim issue? It only happens after a certain speed i have noticed
Or it kind of reminds me like a torque issues like its putting to much power and running off in one direction
happens because of the nws. a10 does this as well but barely noticible because of speed
best way to mitigate is turning nws off. or adjusting while taking off. also dont forget to align during taxi to runway

Also there’s an isssue where if you perform a spin and drop bombs you blow yourself up, or even just lean to one side quite often the bombs blow me up

also the pictures can't convey it properly but the armed version should have 4 lau68 rocket pods with 7 rockets each (28 rockets total). two forward facing 50. cannons, and the gay 19 50. on the back left side of the aircraft

Lmao, It looks really good so far and I love the gunship version. From what I've found, it likes to slide across the ground. Also when trying to take off it appears the side flaps will move for pitching left and right, but not up or down and I couldn't get the trim to work either so I wasn't able to pull up and stay in the air, it'll just glide up a little until it inevitably goes back down even at full power. Even still, this is amazing work for fixed wing aircraft
hmm that could be a issue on controller probably? during testing we found it likes to take off at around 120 knots and takes a bit of runway to do so.
I'm using M&K, I can get it to take off, staying in air is the problem lmao

Alright, so the flaps issue was either a mod confliction or just user error the first couple tries. (Probably the latter) although the planes still do like to spin ever so slowly while parked on ground. Just seems to struggle with pulling up a little bit
that's due to it being too light. turning off the wind should resolve it. also yes it does struggle a bit pulling up. it is a flying bus 😅

How do you change weapons on the armed Cessna cuz I try clicking rb but it won’t change to the rockets
try checking your keybinds. we haven't tested it on controller so honestly we don't fully know if there are any issues.
So the server is olay added the harrier and cessna 🙂 but the rocket pods and cannon dont spawn with it sometimes a couple of feet away from the aircraft, its definitely due to mods conflicting but i have no idea what one
on the cessn aswell? if we figure out what mods are conflixting we can ttry to patch it.

It's not a mod confliction, it's the same issue that CAS helicopters such as the Apache and Ah-1 cobra have, the issue happens when there is multiple selectable weapon systems with the pilot or co-pilot. I don't remember they're name, but the mod maker of the Apache reborn mod is having the same issue

@cursive wave I've noticed an issue with the flight model, for some reason the plane will begin to roll left and progressively become less and less controllable until it finally just completely forces a continuous barrel roll,this issue seems to persist between planes.

I had this issue but only when I had teleported the plane a bunch
I'm just placing the plane and taking off, sometimes it's manageable but most of the time its pretty bad
Also harrier I noticed if you fully deflect the rudder you will go into an unrecoverable spin
yeah, they've been bouncing around the runway pretty bad, no matter what I do the plane banks left or right really hard the entire length of the runway, as for the harrier it seems to be the worst offender by far, it refuses to go even remotely straight. the Cessna is pretty controllable, the issue is far less pronounced
Yeah landing is really bad if you land sometimes it bounces and you crash
What I noticed with cesna it refuses to climb after you hit about 1000ft
that sounds about right, I haven't paid too much attention to the altimeter
I kinda just let it do what it was gonna do here, but later in the flight it usually starts to roll HARD
I was more referring to take off, haven't tried landing the Cessna or harrier yet
seems to be a prevalent issue with controller. tested on kb&m and haven't had this happen before
probably has to do with Vne speed being reached. afaik the mod uses a dependance created from the base game helicopter flight model so dissymmetry of lift of helicopters is inherited. I dont even know if thats in the game, but thats would be the most logical conclusion. or you have multiple mods which conflict.
that's incorrect. the flight model is completely done from scratch by the redline team. if you remember the a10 was out before 1.0 helicopters were a thing. now for mod confliction I do believe that to be the case. there's also the possibility of it being the controller keybinds overlapping. I am trying to figure out the issue but it's a bit hard since it doesn't seem to happen to me nor anyone on the team...
oh also the Cessna will receive a better flight model in the near future.
its not done by scratch. they take bits of functions of the existing helicopter flight model and create a script for them to act like a fix wing plane.
they don't. the a10 has been out significantly longer before there were even hints of helicopters in game. as you can tell by the dates.
if they did use the helicopter flight model like you're saying. you'd notice it. the a10 is more similar to a car than a helicopter
that's good to hear, they're all dope aircraft but that Cessna takes the cake imo, it's really nice to have a prop driven plane.
the physics is always funky. change one value and your plane flies (not in the good way lmao) but yes we are very happy with the Cessna, more propeller planes will come very soon.

the original a10 mod? and I'll tell you this. getting stuff to sound accurate is pretty hard. it's never going to sound perfect and that's something sometimes you gotta accept.

Here is the problem woth the harrier mate, still cant find out what mod is conflicting to cause this

I experience the same issue w the harrier. I just personally gave up because Ive done the whole trying to deconflict mods ( if that's even a issue ) one to many times. Sometimes the guns will be fine , but then they will just detach and mess up the jet mid flight or be removed before take off
doesn't appear to be a mod issue since it doesn't happen on workbench or with other mods disabled

could you show me the mods you have on? this is almost definitely a confliction issue

on the skywarder there are 15 pylons. the c47 doesn't have weapons yet.

does the cessna not lift up much for anyone else
even with the trim set so that it would help you pull up
flying bus. will revisit the flight model in the future but atm it should be semi realistic. you shouldnt be dogfiighting with it lol
no lol but hard to establish airfields on certain maps with how long a stip you need, but yeah still pretty realistic i suppose

I think these planes in Reforger make way more sense. Like if someone made the A-29 Super Tacono that joker would be hella effective.
agreed fast planes are great but we need a BIG ASS map for it
this plane will be perfect so long as its easy to make small adjustments
I’m not gonna lie I think the sky raider is gonna be the most effective playing in reforger (not even because it’s my favorite plane of all time)
good bomb carrying capacity, long loiter time and is able to stay maneuverable at slower speeds
It’s THE perfect CAS aircraft especially for the size of Reforger maps
it is awesome. if only the bombs and anims weren't giving me such a hard time lol.
