Benghazi before gta6?! Hell yeah
Currently have CIA Annex, US Consulate, and a large chunk of the city completed.
Things to come:
More city
Skyscrapers
Airport
Benghazi Port
Oil Rigs
Rural farmlands
Possibly a made up military base (undecided)
Following satellite imagery of the city as best as possible. Obviously scales of buildings and roads are different in engine and irl.
What's the map size gonna be
I think it's sitting at 24KMx24KM. currently I only have the areas shown completed. Outside of fixing reported issues, I'm looking to add a new section each month.

Most likely it'll be 314 km² of city because that's how big the entire city is irl if he's doing 576km²

The 28th might be premature...been having a hell of a time publishing the map to test things out.
It keeps failing to publish and Monday all my buildings got deleted off the map. Thankfully I had several screen shots and was able to rebuild it all over the last 3 days and save more recent back ups.
Once the publishing issues get resolved, I'll upload it for public testing.

That issue has been resolved. Sadly, The map keeps crashing everytime I try to launch it in game. Trouble shooting it now.

Should be almost due north. It has a swimming pool. I'll try to find an old screen shot that shows them in. Relation to each other.
Fixed the time scale. I had set the geo location on the map but didnt know I could set the time zone. Time zone is corrected. Also added street lights and darkened the sand texture.

I’ve personally never ran into cap limit and I use a ton, usually 140+ loaded up at once, but I get ya
I may have to use this once it's later in development.
Feb update should add quite a bit more area. It's still the biggest city map I've seen so far.

Thanks mate! Means alot as well! i definitely am excited to see some more stuff around the city get added in but overall the city looks great! Some details in the alley ways and side roads could use some details to make it look more "lively" but other than that it looks great, I love the barriers that divide the road! really nice touch of detail right there. keep up the great work mate!

Yeah. I want to go back through and add some debris and trash around the map but I'm worried about possible performance hits. After I build out the port part of the map, I might go back through and add that stuff in.

Every where for me especially around the tarps so I tried just messing with the buildings along the unfinished part of the map and it crashed there as well

Ok. I was worried that might happen. I can remove them in the next update if they're causing issues
only about a 5-6 fps drop on pc but console just been struggling all around after the update
I wonder if it's not a BI thing then? Before .95 I was getting 50 FPS looking at the tarps on series x. Feb update should improve FPS a little bit but may remove them until they fix things.

The city is beautifully done. I do think and this isnt a criticism that this map will end up not being console friendly just due to is sheer size though.

Not played it to its fullest potential yet. I did have a bit of a stress test on the server just to see if i get the usual on the big maps like being disconnected or server crashes.
I spammed the cluster gmfx and also maxed out the inf ai budgets to simulate a large scale firefight, that didn't have much of an effect on fps in gm anyway. Not sure what it was like on the ground.
I think what might put off ppl is the large dependencys but apart from that it's a great start to the map, and great to have some maritime stuff with the ships and oil rigs too.
This map is gonna look so good when stable gets the new update with the new lighting
Only complaint I've heard from xbox players is the fps drops at the greenhouses right next to the annex. No issues on PC. And this was after you removed some of the curtains from half of the greenhouses.
When I made that it was a quick job so don’t expect much I was trying it
I don't think the issue is the greenhouses because I was getting fps drops before they were there. I think it's the bulk of the city is in line w that location and it's all flat there so there's no occluders. I'll try to look into it more and see what I can't find out.
Thats reforger issue also happens on vanilla maps sometimes nothing he can do really I think
How are you tracking your fps? the upper right corner is saying 50-60? I have no control over afghan buildings sadly
I think its about the disapearing building
GeForce overlay was matching the same as the as the ingame fps so yes. Just noticed drops when facing this building in particular.

Yeah Check the parking Garage Building. The spawntime is really Long. How Many Polygons? Occlusions? Ngons in Model? How big is the asset in MB?

The gulf coasts pack wrecks havoc on series S
Unsure what's up with that mod specifically, but it's not helpful for server/player stability
Lower end hardware will ofc have lower quality gameplay
Still, Eastern Conflict buildings don't have the same issue, but it's far more detailed. That's quite a difference.
It seems like the Gulf Coast assets have way more polygons than necessary creating a higher load on the machines.
Not super impressed w the series s. Series X seems to handle things pretty well though

-Removed Kunar as a dependency
-Fixed Floating Walls near University
-Fixed Floating trees at US Consulate
-Added Lights to US Consulate
-Added additional ladders to USS Nimitz (Can now get to deck of Nimitz from water via ladders at back of ship)
-added shallow area to beach to accommodate walking in water.
Let me know what you think about removing kunar as a dependency. I'm on the fence because the asset pack is nearly as big as the kunar map and most people already have kunar downloaded.
I think kunar is 1765 mb and asset pack is just under 1200 mb

They're just cosmetic. You'll have to place your own arsenal boxes

We don’t have the Odin mod on our server
Are you preloading gm scenarios or building them from scratch? I've noticed if I open a saved gm OP, it duplicates all the doors.
We do have the enfusion persistence network mod. But this doesn’t happen with any other map.
It’s probably that. Both the Enfusion persistence mods broke our server, mostly all in game optic sights & some other stuff
Yeah. All our optics got trashed by persistence too.
I'll ask around and see if there is a work around for it but in workbench, there's only one set of doors for them so I'm not sure.
I tried screwing with the load order but nothing seemed to work. Hell, it even screwed up RHS stuff

We have been playing on your map for a bit and at least for my experience as a pilot it's quite difficult to keep frames above 30fps and worse by dark/eventful conditions.
Yeah. That's due to two things. The flat terrain and the density of the city.
The next update will probably be the last update to the city itself unless BI boosts performance which I'm told 1.1 is doing.
The flat terrain means I can't add occluders which prevent the game from rendering anything obstructed from view by terrain.
It's also the most densely populated city in game that I know of. The density I think is challenging on the engine, especially on console.
This was my first map and I've learned a lot to take into my next project. I've considered purchasing non enterable buildings to add to the map to make it feel more full w/o eating up performance but I haven't found any I really like yet and it's a lot of work I just don't have time for currently.

Definitely Eastern European. I try to only use gulf coast when I have to and have been searching for 3d models to replace GC stuff but I haven't found anything I like yet that I can afford.
GC seems to have a very high poly count and very poor textures

At this point, more high rises but I'm open to both. Trying to find a better quality parking garage and oil rigs right now too

I'll just leave it at this in respect to the map, my plans for the March update might be split in half into a March/April update or just solely April update. We will see what I can get finished. By the end of April the city part of the map will likely be finished and I'll work on filling in the more rural areas of the map, adding detail, and attempting to optimize the map somehow.

Had about 30 minutes to test it. I've got Benghazi working on my server on GM. Although I'm now experiencing the bug someone reported a few days ago w double and triple gates. Not sure how to resolve but I'll be looking into it.

UPDATE: I'm not sure what's caused it but somehow every gate, street light, jersey barrier, and car in the map has been duplicated. I'm in the middle of removing all the duplicates.
I'm hoping to push a hot fix by Monday morning. I'm also hoping this greatly improves performance on the map.

Hi mate 0.1.3 isn’t loading the a game fully when players try to load in

Same here. All 1.3 changed was some minor stuff so stay on 1.2 while I try to investigate the issue.

You're all good. We're playing tonight so after we're done I'll move back to 1.3 as well to see what I get. I didn't intentionally delete anything so I'm not certain what the issue is. Everything is working in workbench currently...

Yeah. Something got screwed up between 1.2 and 1.3. I'm investigating the issue but please roll back to 1.2. I'll make a post in here when I get it fixed.

@orchid gate servers up guys can load in only issue we have is placing spawns seems to delay but we had that in 0.1.2 also so I’m guessing it’s a known issue
Yeah. I've been having that issue in Kunar too though it takes longer in Benghazi. I'm not sure if it's due to the density of Benghazi or something wrong w 1.1 update.

I have expanded the city north into the port area. Not sure yet if the port will be completed or not yet but things are looking promising.
Additionally, I have made a small conflict mode for the map. This is a beta version of it for testing so let me know what you all think. How does it play, how is performance, what tweaks would you like to see made to it?
Lastly, I have placed large hills around the outside of the city to hopefully increase performance when outside the city. (Reduces the amount of rendering the engine has to do through the use of occluders. Again, let me know what you think of this idea.

when i load up your Map in the workbench and look at the city its gives me Massive FPS drops is that also gonna happen in the Game on a Server or is there a way to minimize the FPS drops?
There's parts of the city where I get lower FPS. Like the area of tabalino. Oddly enough it seems to be the areas w heavy Kiok building set ups. I'm hoping he updates his building pack like he did his map. This should fix it or at least improve it.
IDK what your system specs are but I get 100-120 fps throughout 90 percent of the map. Tabalino and parts of Al Kish are the only exceptions for me. Hope this helps.
Noticed the size on it, is there any plans to remove some of the dependences? as its 7 gbs with everything
I'll have to look into that. It was around 3 for me last I checked. There's no current plans to remove dependencies as it would delete parts of the map.
Your map alone IS 2.4, Gulf coast buildings are 1.9 Gb Core is 1.4

Totally understand that. Ik Xbox players have a cap on downloads. I play w primarily Xbox users and they just delete maps we aren't using for space. I try to update the servers every Sunday so they can get everything set up for Wednesdays

I meant like try caves mountains just cool unique things ik those aren’t very unique but you know what I mean. Have fun with it, it makes it so much more unique and fun to play on.
Yeah caves are tricky because there's really no way to actually make them. You have to put a trench in the side of a mountain and then cover it with rocks and boulders. It really sticks out but as of right now, May update will add at least one "cave" as I've described.

As for console, there's not a whole lot I can do. Consoles struggle on the density of the city which is why I stopped expanding it and started adding other locations around the map.

I usually try and do a week of testing before I publish an update and I never noticed it lol. Right now Im trying to figure out how to get bridges to show up on the paper map and get the AI to be able to cross the bridges.

Center of the city might see performance hits for Xbox but everywhere else should be good. Xbox might end up in the 20 fps range in the All Kish areas. Apparently Kiok is working on improving the performance of his buildings which should greatly improve this but until then, it is what it is.
Yeah I kinda figured with all the structures and such, some of our guys have issues on fallujah in the city but it is what it is tbh. Still better than arma 3 lol
Facts. There's ships you can board, oil rigs, mountains. Should have a lot of replay ability

How are the nav meshes on the oil rigs? I know that the ai are kinda dumb and will walk off the ledges sometimes
I've never had them do that in internal testing and played 2 ops on them without it happening that I'm aware of. Would be interested to hear If you experience this. If so, I'll add some railings in the next update to keep them safe 😂

I am aware of the Wolf's building pack update. I'm working on fixing the buildings now and hoping to get the September update out by this upcoming Sunday if not before. The upcoming update features something special for fans of the show Seal Team or anyone who likes sneaking into underground bunkers through ventilation shafts. Also working on adding in a refugee camp and smoothing out some roads.

I mainly wonder how they might affect performance, are you able to adjust the color of them at all to make it look more like a dirty/sand dusty?
I am not. From my internal testing they don't appear to have any impact on performance. The tents however might but my laptop is also anemic. Once the update comes out and I can test it more thoroughly, I might redo it w empty tents

No updates this month. Taking a break from Benghazi until April when I plan to start an overhaul to reduce dependencies and download size as well as improve performance if possible.
