We do realize the arsenal config is broken right now, so you won't be able to find them there right now. You can still place them in the world though, or add them to inventories of prefabs. We should fix that in the next update.

You're going to have to be way, way more specific with your question.

Why the heck does core modify Eden.ent? It just seems to add floating buildings and breaks the AI (they can't climb over walls nor interact with doors).

Reforger has no concept of server or client side mods. Every mod is present on all machines. If you specify it in your server config, the clients will automatically download it when joining the server.
TL;DR to get it working for your server, you have to add it to the server

i did isolate it to this mod, i had nothing else enabled.

Yeah we had to push the update out quick. Quite possible we messed up and included a temporary file that we didn't mean to. I'll have a look at your fix, thanks for taking the initiative to overwrite that
Hey @summer pollen I'm not trying to bug you if you're busy but I've noticed (at least for my server) that the helicopter mods themselves appear to be crashing my server after I shut it down....It doesn't specify which one as it only says R3D_Helicopter as the reason. Any ideas what this is caused by?

Does this project have a road map? If not then will it ever be possible to have a Minigun Emplacement useable and spawnable by GMs?
I removed Everon from the patch. The only thing that is still there is the new configs for adding the pilot helmets to the arsenal.
We do not have a public roadmap despite having some interesting things planned for the future. Might have to change that 🙂
Minigun emplacements in GM in something I don't think we've even considered but also wouldn't be too hard to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

Which heli were you using when you got these errors? I think this has to do with the exhaust particles management. But I thought we had already fixed the components for this...

Is it possible to make free look RB, because it is hard to look around during flight with the current control scheme.
I think it is; I haven't been testing on controller for a long time because I need to get a new one. Mine has horrible stick drift issues and one of the triggers doesn't work. But the bumpers work so I should go back and try changing it.
Ive noticed the backhawk can be heard from a very long way away?
With controller you have to hold the thumbstick down like the old free look mechanic used to be, so it is easy to both damage your controller but also crash whichever helicopter you are flying lol
No seriously, my right analog is starting to give out because of it. Having to freelook with such a binded control is very much a pain involving keesters

BTW, I had another look at this part of the code on Friday before I left for the week. I forgot how kludgy that part of our code is. Honestly, part of me just wants to remove freelook on controller entirely, because there's nothing we can do about the key we use or the fact that you don't relinquish control with the right stick to my knowledge.
No fix coming for this, but I bet when official helis come out there will be a much better freelook solution for controller.
I suppose this is a good time to mention in this channel that per the experimental patch notes, support for helis may be temporarily broken next patch and there is likely nothing we can do about it. This is part of Reforger this early on, and I ask for your patience with us and with the actual devs as they work on the engine side of helis.
With that said, there will be other reasons to use R3D_CORE on its own! We are working on an emplaced version of the mounted weapons and I hope to make them purchasable with supplies in the campaign. There are also yet-unannounced (or just teased) additions and improvements to the R3D arsenal and equipment that will be coming soon.
Hope to put some more info in here when it becomes possible 😉

You can take a look at the code in Core and start working on an F22. 😛 We are not working on one. And the fixed wing stuff isn't complete. It's very rudimentary at the moment.
Why would you even want an F-22 the base map is so small you would fly over it in seconds
I don't like the A-10 that much but that and the Vark are the only planes that would make sense rn especially considering the lack of anything to shoot for a fighter like the F-22

Yes, wait and see. There are always limitations and issues that come up, so nothing in stone. Adam and Ralian want a flight model that's more physics based than arcady, but scripting things in does require some faking of things. Working radar, guided munitions (laser/radar). and some base anti air weapons. Then leave it up to the community to use based off Core.

Well the way I've usually done it since they first came out (with my left stick cause I'm mainly on controller) we're the controls changed? I've just been led to assume the mod(s) were broken since the new arma update
gotta hold rb+y and push one of the sticks up for a little bit and the rotors will spin up, however the broken part to them is apparently in mp the rotors don’t spin for others as wells as there’s no audio at the moment.

When using the SP-4 helmet, if you save your kit and respawn when you remove the helmet there is zero outside noise.
Hey Redline Team, i really do like the A10 you've integrated. One of the things that REALLY caught me eye was the ability to freelook using RB (right bumper) for internal controls. Is that something that will be introduced into the helicopter control scheme in the future?
i thought the same thing but on every heli except for the UH-60 Rb toggles the weapon/rocket pod that the pilot has selected

Good question, I'm glad you like how I did it for the A10. I was able to do it that way because we made the Airplane input context completely from scratch. To my knowledge, I don't think we can do this with the helicopters since the input for the right stick would still be read by the VehicleHelicopterSimulation. So, nothing we can do about it until official helis come out. I hope they implement something similar to what I did for planes though 🙂

Regarding R3D_CORE: We have made the decision to open source this mod on Github! You can find the source here: https://github.com/ralian/R3D_CORE
Note that for practical reasons, some of the art asset sources (meaning the blend files and uncompressed textures) are not in this repo. Also, none of our other mods will be going on github, due to similar practicality constraints.
The #1 reason we are doing this is so the community can open issues for us, but Please read CONTRIBUTING.md BEFORE creating an issue!
Let us know if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns. Fire away at that issues board. I created one or two simple issues that we know about to kick things off.

Oh yeah, if you're curious about why I didn't push the history of the git repo to github, I wanted to. However, we accidentally included some .layer files in the history tree that were larger than 100MB, so without doing a bunch of history rewriting, we couldn't include the history.
Also, copy-pasting the Q/A I put on github to clear some questions up here:
Q: Why are you making R3D_CORE (or just "core") open source?
We want the community to be able to contribute features to Core directly, and have a convenient way to open issues. Although we try and check every bit of our work for performance, stability, and compatibility issues, on occasion a bug (script crash, inefficient code, floating building, etc…) has slipped by. In the past users would have to contact us directly, or submit a patch mod on top of R3D_CORE. This is not optimal, and we'd like to do better as Core grows.
Q: If the source for Core was already public and visible (through Workbench), why wasn't Core open source before?
Practical reasons. Actually, R3D_CORE didn't exist when we started project redline and released the UH-60, our first real mod. The issue with storing an entire mod on a git server is mainly size - textures and source models contribute greatly to consumed space, and premium github/gitlab accounts are expensive. There are ways to work around this, but hosting an art drive or self hosting an entire git server just isn't a practical use of our team's time.
Originally we used gitlab because its pricing scheme is slightly more generous than Github. However, once our art repos grew in size, we had to look for other alternatives, and settled on AWS CodeCommit for a git host due to its very practical pricing scheme. Unfortunately, CodeCommit is not as user friendly and its complexity doesn't make bringing new users in to work on it very easy. So, all our art and mod repos will remain closed source - except for Core, which is now open source on Github.

I already did it and I changed the class, and I put the property in the soundmanagercomponent of SceneeRoot on Head and it still doesn't work, but which class are you referring to, I'll see if I change the class elsewhere

Is there a potential roadmap for introducing structural / mechanical failures that can happen to helicopter? Such as the rear rotor failing due to damage, or limited collective due to damage to the rotor and other things like that?
Also; potentially allowing the co-pilot to “gain controls” with the pilots permission, or some other system? Would love to see the copilot be able to do something in the aircraft and be able to control it in some way.
No, everything is on hold until we see what BI do with vehicle damage and helicopters. No need to re-invent the wheel.

Part of the arming is being attached to a pylon irl, they aren't meant to be dropped in GM like that

Some people I’ve talked with have asked about the miniguns having some spread. Rn you gotta be laser accurate with them to hit targets, would it be possible to add some wider groupings/spread to the rounds?
I like the idea of a small spread... but I also think they could use one of the oversized eotechs and it'd be easier to hit targets, even with the current "laser" accuracy
The above suggestion was geared more towards fixed miniguns like on a littlebird or DAP Blackhawk. It was a pain to hit people back when the first littlebird was on the WS. (Shoulda elaborated more, my bad)

Will the M134 eventually receive a sound overhaul for interior and exterior? I’ve noticed it doesn’t really make a sound for people on the ground when a helicopter flying over is firing them in game. And the current sounds are pretty off compared to videos online from both outside and inside the vehicles perspective

Was a common tactic in Vietnam to drop frags out of homemade grenade tubes or by hand on top targets while flying low. As well as hand dropped Smokes to mark targets for gunships or planes

Right now the volume decrease for game sounds is hardcoded. I'll get with Zelik this weekend and see about getting it exposed for users to adjust.
To create a helmet using the R3D helmets as a base, you will need to change the class of your helmet to
ZEL_PilotHelmet```
you need to do this in a text editor after creating your helmet prefab. The change of class will then take and use our code for muting game volume. If you want to know HOW we are doing it, BI uses 5 categories to define game audio in the AudioSystem.

We take category 0 and turn the volume down to 0.1. I could be wrong, but I believe this is on a scale of 0-1. There are some checks and variables set for returning volume to previous levels when removed, and checking that it only affects the player wearing the helmet, but that's the gyst of it.
I see, ty a lot for explaining that. I'm using RHS's helmets as a base in order to use their night vision systems. I was kinda hoping it had something to do with the sound components.

Using a description for your mod to try to alter the reputation of the original mod creator is not only incredibly disrespectful but, I'm pretty sure it breaks EU copyright laws regarding Moral Rights(I may be wrong on this). Don't know if I'm posting it right but there is a hitzone error in UH60 preventing slot entities from spawning. It was fixed by disabling the "SCR_DamageManagerComponent".

@summer pollen Trying to take a look at how your Minigun workspace is set up to try and mimic a similar setup on my own experimental build heli, however loading the .aw into workbench results in hard crashing to desktop. Is there something I might be doing wrong/missing? I tried on stable tools as well as experimental, with a downloaded mod version from workshop, as well as your source from github and both result in instant crash when I attempt to open the .aw in the Animation Editor.

Has anyone running the UH-60 mod on a server ever have issues with Xbox Series S players constantly either crashing or DCing when more than 4 people get inside of the UH-60 heli? It seems to be consistent when doing so inside of safe zones.
It’s not a mod issue it’s a hardware issue
I tested it with only this heli running on the server, compared to having 115 active mods of people getting into the vanilla Mi8. The same issue is also present with some Darkgru SOAR helis also
The difference between vanilla and modded is the point in question, I personally have no issues usually on series x, however some of the other pilots in the server I’m in crash when they are in modded helis on series s, it’s less powerful overall

Im not sure what but I think your rocket pod prefabs Do not stay attached to vehicles at all server side, but local game instances they stay attached. No idea why.

Bro what are you on about? Project redline is a TEAM of very well known modders. And most of them are pretty active in this and the modding discord. As far as my knowledge is they have NEVER had a MD500 on arma reforger.

This heli hasn't been reuploaded since the workshop version changed to 1.0 which is why it doesn't show up in game or when searching directly for it in workshop. If you google search for it you will find the workshop link for it as well as a forum page listing all their reforger projects from the past like the mi-24 hind

I'm putting this here as a bit of an advertisement considering how hidden "Creators Recruiting" can be.
As many of you know, we have been working on a C130 project for some time. We had an amazing 3D artist working with us initially. He created an awesome high poly for us that's partially complete. We have the exterior, and much of the cockpit. Due to a conflict of interested with the work involved, we have had to find another artist to finish the project. This has turned into a tougher task than hoped. With our latest contact falling through, we have decided to reach back out to the community the project is intended for in case a talented artist is looking for a new project. The project is paid, but I'm not going to give dollar value here. 3D and texturing only, no workbench involved.

as long as it isnt 400k vertices then its fine, when you go past that enfusion either completely shuts itself down when you try to export it or u get lucky but will have textures and pieces of the model missing sometimes
At further inspection this model seems to be a high fidelity model that will require a bake onto a lower poly mesh. Especially given it will be a fast moving air asset, having a high poly count flying around constantly will impact player and server performance a lot.
hmmm all the servers that run the F4 Phantom havent complained once and its sitting at like 350k 🤷♂️ if anything they have praised it
This model would be over 1mil verts in just the cockpit alone.
That Phantom would likely have LOD’s setup properly if it isn’t causing any issues. This model doesn’t show any LODs, the primary model is still WIP and would need a modeler to bake as well as create multiple LODs for it to be game ready.

you can always separate the cockpit and interior like how every single vanilla vehicle does. you don't need to show the interior of the plane at 100m out so you can reduce the lods. it's not really impossible to optimize.
Folks, we appriciate the interest, but we understand what needs to be done here. These pictures are of the unfinished HIGH POLY version. It was created with extreme detail in mind as the model was meant for our use as well as a project for the original artist outside of Reforger. The extreme amount of detail you see will be reduced appropriately when the LOW POLY version is created. The LOW POLY version is the one that we utilize for reforger. We know the engine limitations, we understand what needs to be done to optimize the performance and quality. No need to worry about that at the moment. We just felt it was important to share the current state of the asset so anyone interested in continuing the art with us could see the amount of work still needed to be done.

I know that asset would have to be optimized as its also in a high poly, non game ready form, I've not read a whole lot into the Reforger model making process but whats the texture pipeline like? Are these PBR models we have in Reforger?

That model would not work without a lot of work. Model isn't a low poly version, it's the high poly meant for rendering. Same with textures, way too big for reforger.
Also, the C17 is comically large. C130 is already pushing it for big planes in arma, C17 is an absolute monster

Yes, multiple. But all have backed out for one reason or another. Thing appear to be back on with one of the better hopefull artists, just in line behind other projects. Should be our project up next. Fingers crossed.

Not sure if with fixing "Actions" you mean this bug I am about to show. But my report is a little bit iffy. Thing being, when we use redline + WCS armament mods on our servers (might also be RHS, but I think it's WCS) there comes this action error all the time in the logs which I've marked.
Now that wouldn't be a big problem but the server starts to freeze after a time, which made me look for scripting issues. And once I removed redline, the error line disappeared and vehicles didn't blow up servers anymore and no freezes happened anymore.
Will be fixed soon. We have a solution I believe

It depends on what you mean by compatibility
The tricky thing is the state of WCS is always changing compared to our stuff. Not a bad thing, just a fact that makes it hard to make them interoperable.
You can run them together right now, and there's only one issue that I know of, it has to do with our looped audio script

Wrong thread. But, that is actually broken on our end. The only way I was able to fix it, it broke the pylon weapons. It's a tricky one to solve.

Will redline ever consider making a V-22 osprey mod?
Probably not as he is working on some other unannounced stuff to my knowledge, but it may be possible with their new redline core code for fixed wing simulation but somehow get it to still function at low speeds like a helicopter
Based on my limited knowledge(none) I imagine it would take a new script entirely, which switches between the two based on the position of the rotors
More like an extension to his script im thinking, not too sure yet
A rotor is a spinning wing 😉 no switching needed, just if speed is low you wont have much lift generated by the wings
A v22 is easily possible with the fixed wing sim, just need to rotate the thrust vector. I may write some code for it eventually but hasnt been a priority

probably the windage system causing the issue, just dont understand how WCS Armaments shags it up, such a weird conflict. Just sucks because my blender skill has finally gotten good enough to make the goofy stuff in my head and they all need Redline Core😆

Ig PR will need to remake from scratch the whole planes core things etc ( I dont even know how is it called lmao ) and that's why is it taking that long for them to fix it, ig same as the other PR ( Project Realism ) or ekudmada
OHHH, that makes sense. That really sucks. Is there any less good fixed wing mods out there that does currently work, even if not as good as PR:C? I'm fine with using a different underpinning during the prototyping stage, as long as it has ailerons and forward thrust. I have two ideas cooking and they both need it, and now that 1.6 brought moving platforms, they're both doable
Nope afaik, even something like the WW2 Gliders need both PR and the A-10 to work

would make what I'm doing somewhat workable, still needs rear thruster and dont even get me started on how to get rotation to work without a rear rotor, I was going to try using thrust vectoring, or engine steering, like a skid steer.
I guess I could try going swamp boat style with rudders behind the thrust

Not sure honestly only know this from the PR team since they are having issues with the two since they are both dependencies for their core mod
if you're friendly with any of them, get them to give me a poke, I have a rework of their scripts that seem promising, but I dont have a model to run them in to test, and I have no clue on how to set up a plane model to test myself. I'm more than happy doing the leg work and report back, I just need something that worked with PRC posted up to workshop with the PRC dependencies removed and I can back fill with my scripts and the stuff from the Redline GitHub.

sweet, so the WCS/PRC crash, I think I isolated out the script causing the issue, the Atmosphere script. The guys on the 1stMDiv modteam and my self's little brain thought is that the new windage/atmosphere system is competing with your atmosphere script, and the WCS rocketry is stalling with not knowing how to react to both.
My current impasse to confirming is, IDK how to rig a plane to work in Reforger. I was about ready to strap wings and an engine to the Sample Car from the BI GitHub and see what happens
and like I said above, I'm more than willing to do all the leg work and testing, if someone can toss something confirmed to work with PRC, with PRC stripped out into the workshop for me to use as a test chassis. Best I got was a SU25 that teeters back and forth on an invisible post when I load it into the game.

no no no matter the mods use conflict or GM when I install the project redline core mods is the A-10 thunderbolt II we can no longer find the servers in the multiplayer even though it is open

The flight sim has been fixed for a while but it wont work well with WCS
Thats why a team im in is bringing back jets but with their own armaments which would solve the issue
Why when I download Redline it’s a error message like I had it with the Canadian Huey and it said error then I deleted redline then it worked
If you had any other vehicle using wcs armaments then that could be the case
I didn’t the Canadian Huey required redline mod and it didn’t work and I deleted but I can check again the marine Huey I downloaded does not require it but anything redline seems to do and error message
An update to redline couldve messed it up not sure, but redline is fixed, If wcs were to fix thier mod then it will be ok but for the Project Realism tean it will be better off to make our own armaments
And in the future not to throw any shade to Redline we will make our flight sim and possibly make it even better than redline.

just found this thread. was trying to test out some of these aircraft mods but they all seem to depend on Project Realism CORE, but when I add that mod, server crashes on start. The Project Redline - Core mod works fine for me. Even the A-10A Thunderbolt II works. But soon as I add Project Realism CORE, it just crashes 😩 These are the only 3 mods im running:

From what i'm gathering here, the issue resides in the `WCS_Armaments` mod, is that correct?
That core mod by project realism isnt fixed, one if the devs files got corrupted and he was the one that posted that one so it will need to be re-uploaded
Right now we just got them to fly so now we are just working on getting them to our liking and we will release

Core has been updated to 1.2.10. No changelog, just pushed update for 1.6.0
Let me know if you are still having crashing issues. No errors found in scripts, and warnings are all basic "update to new functionality but still works" types of warnings.

it comes up with aload of base game stuff, an r3d math on the error logs

sounds like they didn't write the code good enough to interact with this.
especially now that its been updated so its not on Project redlines end I think.
These issues first started popping up when everyone started running WCS with PR when PR was already running fine for a long time before WCS.

We really only released it becuase we were working on our own helicopter flight model, then we got our hands on the one in the engine. Decided to use it and put it out so people could use it to make their own. But now that it's vanilla, it's kinda served it purpose. We were going to add more systems to the vanilla rotary wing aircraft, but when the deal with the Louis happened we just decided to drop it and focus on the fixed wing stuff.

Yeah i was running into this issue, the Project Redline Core was causing issues loading up just the A-10, All other mods disabled besides those dependent for it, Ill admit @summer pollen I dont have logs because it was in offline mode.
Virtually all the crashes I've been told redline core caused were really crashes from WCS or some other mod. Still, it's not impossible since I haven't looked at any of the engine changes in the past few months.
And, you do have logs even in offline mode, you just have to find them 🙂

I don't think this error is related to anything we override in Core but I could be wrong
A full crash log would be more helpful. You can read how to provide that online, but you can find it in your profiles folder after a crash 🙂

Well both WCS and Redline are doing some funny things that corrupt the VM when combined
We got it all figured out. Maybe redline sees this and lets us put out our patch

last I checked Fixed Wing Aviation mods didn't have a problem until BI breaks the code again or WCS was introduced
oh okay. it seemed like project realism was the issue, at least back when I was testing, but maybe im misinterpreting? I was able to run a server with the WCS_Armaments mod, Project Redline - Core mod, and even the A-10 mod, but soon as I added the Project Realism CORE mod, server would crash on start. It seemed like Project Realism CORE was a dependency for 99% of the fixed-wing aircraft mods, so that's why i thought it was the issue. MoJo[Fire] mentioned that the PR mod wasnt fixed, something about files getting corrupted, in previous comments above: #1106406416287272970 message

Brand new fixed wing script + f-18
Basically, the flight physics are much better and from now on modders who use RiverX scripts won't need to add an entire aircraft as a dependency to create their own aircraft, just the Core
Most importantly, the mod doesn't conflict with WCS_Armaments and will be updated regularly

Well, the OH-58D uses RVX Core and WCS_Armaments and there is no issues at all so its pretty safe to say there is no issues
Well the OH-58d is also an helli also RVX- core is dependent on WCS Armaments which would explain why they don’t clash together

It was probably banned as the creator of that mod was using our mods * Project Realism * stuff and as he said he just used a bunch of scripts which is against our licenses to do so.
Maybe someone will either fix the problem the right way , or just create their own stuff instead of using other modders stuff without permission
