just update the m4 it should pull the things as dependencies
on the m4 you can have up to 3 attachments of this type, so you can run 3 lasers if you want
or more commonly laser + flashlight
I will try as soon as I get home... I'll tell the boys of my group to start testing
dope, these attachments will work on other guns if modders have setup the slots for them (I didn't invent the slots, I just made items that use the slots)

Ehi @cunning crag , my boys are checking out the mod right now and testing everything... The laser and taclight work just fine on your m4, they're trying to mount them on other weapons but so far only works on your m4... Will run more tests
they will work on guns that have ris attachments setup, it's up to modders to add them
they just need to press a button in workbench

it works, I've just left a server with like 25 xbox players all using it
there are a few more bugs though but seems usable
Awesome. I hope the laser works. I know that was one of the big problems with other mods that have laser pointer. Was it didn’t work on console.

I’m loving the m4a1 block 2 so far just wondering if you’d be able to make it where I can run the optics from the modern optics pack on your m4

Ok I’ll see what I can do, I know that the suppressor that we use on the m4 comes from the 416 mod I believe but I’m not sure if there’s an individual mod for a suppressor
I was working on one last week, maybe I'll revisit it in a few days
the ones I've seen so far only modify the sound, they don't change AI reactions for example

Lol I was confused too I thought it was your mod at first
it's a different model but the gun is the same so... understandable to look similar
issues with lasers and flashlights I've already fixed yesterday:
- on/off state was not synchronized for streamed entites and join-in-progress players (fixed now)
- item was on by default inside an arsenal (fixed)
- lenses of items were not synchronized with their state (fixed)
- laser artifact bugs because of fake volumetric light (fixed by disabling vol light)
issues with lasers and flashlights to fix this week: - can toggle it on and off on a gun that's on the ground
- when taking it off the gun (in the inventory ui, not in inspect mode) the light doesn't turn off
- when picking it up into a clothing storage like pants, chest etc inside the inventory UI the light does not turn off, leading to funny artifacts
Makes mine obsolete, one less I need to update I reckon. Maybe lol.
you have an UGL though, is there a way we could work together in making the UGL a generic attachment to be able to be put on any gun that has a generic RIS underbarrel attachment configured?
I'm using generic RIS rail attachment classes for the lasers, I think we can use the RIS rail UGL attachment class to make an UGL that fits any weapon that has this kind of slot
your m4 looks great, I think it deserves to be on the workshop forever

I honestly wouldn't have any idea how to do something like that, I originally had it set up as an attachment, but it stopped functioning and you couldn't aim down the sight of the launcher unless it was a fixed model component etc.
I do need to make it compatible with the RIS attachment compat mod, that will likely be a priority now, especially with your laser/flashlight system and how it works on consoles too.
I'll give it a shot once I deal with some of the issues with the lights
only thing I may need later is a ris ugl model
there is a special attachment type in the attachments compatibility mod called attachment ris ugl (or ugl ris i dont remember) that would be a good candidate
I bought the model itself, then made my own mount bracket to attach it to the block ii as there wasn't one natively in the model of the ugl. I will be doing a full rework of the attachment system soon, new handguard options, barrel lengths etc so will be curious if I can get it functioning using one of those methods to get it working as an attachment instead of fixed.
No idea yet, but people like you give me hope of ways around limitations and the devs still keep dropping us bits that can come in handy even in ways that they don't expect.

not all of them have 4 rails
That is something I don't know about. I may just have each model as a separate gun, then do the attachment points individually, so for instance, the giesele handguard won't allow the launcher model due to the fact that I don't have a mounting bracket for an MLOK system made. I also then need to remember that the attachment compat mod, doesn't have MLOK specific rails, only RIS so that will be another issue I can foresee.
Lots of ideas, not sure how much time it will take to bring any to fruition.
since the weapon attachment slots are managed by the weapon component the only sensible thing that comes to mind is to have predefined attachment slots for all 4 sides and turn them on / off from within the handguard when it is attached to / removed from the weapon
maybe also change their positions/offsets if allowed in script
but separate weapon with a permanently attached handguard is definitely an option 😄 pretty much what I did with the m4 since I wouldn't want floating attachments for now

I don't expect people to spend a lot of time changing handguards to be honest, but then again I gave them 2 laser pointers and now they spend twice as long to decide on gear at an arsenal
just because they come in 2 colors
if the MLOK rails attachments can be managed similarly then we can try making a feature request for it in attachments compatibility, it might be just a class name

Yeah it would be if I get the time to change my attachment system to the RIS attachment mod, which is how his mod is set up for rail positions.
I'm hoping relying on this attachments compatibility mod makes it easily applicable
since this mod is pretty much always downloaded as a dependency for something
I have got a question though, is your laser and flashlight system able to be used on say, my PEQ15 or my DBAL model? Or does it only function on your own models?
it doesn't rely on the model so you can inherit it, swap your model, change position and cone angles of the light, and so on
the only place where it talks to the model is it changes emissive texture color to match the desired light color
but if your materials have no emission then that part just does nothing
the only thing to keep in mind for the model is alignment of the scene root so that it actually sits connected to the rail (we're assuming that everyone has correct scales for the rails on the guns and the rail clamps on the attachment, right?... right...? 😨 )
you'll figure it out really quickly when you open the prefab
light intensity and color are in a component on the attachment entity, light cone angles, light textures are in a child entity of the attachment
in the future when/if we get official NVGs the same component could manage something like a IR laser (or in general multiple lights within the same attachment)
dang it keeps putting ugl of attachment class AttachmentRISUnderBarrel into an AttachmentShortRIS slot 😐 weird
